(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

You're right that OSE does not state it so plainly, but it's a very common interpretation (even OSE suggests it in its in-house magazine). Part of the appeal of running OSE is getting away from skill systems, but I think for simplicity's sake there are still some abilities that are obscure...

(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

It's a bit more martial than I'm looking for, and I don't really associate the word "swashbucker" with lockpicking for instance. Oh, that's a good idea. Hmm, how about if... it's more about the easy lies and greasy charm of the conman?

(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

What @Fenris-77 said. I'll admit, I am torn about giving chain to a class with lower attack bonuses, but it's not that dissimilar to the cleric's situation I guess? I'll give the minimum ability score more thought too...

(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

Thank you for your thoughts @saskganesh You wouldn't, this is intended as a replacement for both those classes in a game that only uses four classes (fighter, magic-user, cleric, outlaw) EDIT: Ooops, pressed post instead of quote. I have more to say @saskganesh, next post...

(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

Oh, that's just how OSE words things. Humans you 'encounter' are treated as 'monsters' regardless of how you actually interact with them. Actually, this campaign is for some players who share my recent qualms about violence against intelligent creatures, so they are willing to play along...

(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

That's great. You've expanded my vocabulary with something I really need in my professional and personal life. Good point. I'm actually experimenting with a different alignment lineup for this campaign: Mercy - Neutrality - Cruelty.

(OSE) Critique my homebrew outlaw class?

Here's a rough draft of a class I intend to use in Old School Essentials. I'd like some opinions to help improve it. Context: - This is a replacement for the thief that incorporates elements from it and the ranger (or more specifically OSE's Warden class, non-magical ranger). - I intend to...

Good OSR class name for combination thief/ranger?

I feel that one has a little too much real-world baggage now. Of the wrong kind.

Good OSR class name for combination thief/ranger?

What I'm doing is using OSE for a mini-campaign. I want to stick to 4 classes but replace the thief with something that can cover the themes and functions of both the thief and/or the ranger depending on the player's choices.

Good OSR class name for combination thief/ranger?

Ooh, I think we have a winner here. I realize now it evokes Robin Hood, the right blend of thief and ranger.

Good OSR class name for combination thief/ranger?

I dunno, scout doesn't really encapsulate stuff like pick-pocketing and lock-picking in my mind.

Good OSR class name for combination thief/ranger?

If you were designing a class that could cover the themes of the thief or the ranger, according to player preference, what would you name it? Basically, something that encapsulates "person who is good at navigating the urban jungle or the actual jungle".

    No Art Game

These days I mostly buy PDFs and print them surreptitiously at work. Art and watermarks make it easier for me to get caught, so their absence is appreciated.
