When you utterly fail at running your own business, the natural thing to do is to work for other people. I understand people being upset about the Kickstarter, but it seems a little disproportionate to insist that he never be allowed to work again.
Not sure that's what's happening.

Look, I don't want the guy to starve in the gutter. However there's a lot of people who could benefit from a shot at writing content in the industry and they don't have the responsibility of a shitshow kickstarter to contend with. So there will always be choices as to who to hire and who to pass over when it comes to work. When Modipihius knowingly hires someone who's current form is highly suspect I have to assume that it's a) friendship/b) name recognition. However the latter makes little sense in the context of his handling of his own kickstarter (and, tbf, his attitudein general from what I've seen). Now Modiphius are free to hire whomever they like I guess, but they are also free to accept the consequences of that oncscious decision - especially whent hey knowingly obfuscate. They hid Skarka's name from the credits of STA.

Stuff like this makes me so want to like Savage Worlds. I would have been all over that kickstarter, never even heard about it. At least it looks like everything is available from PEG.

Very classy that they recognized the film and got someone from the cast involved.

Well I have my Father's day gift suggestion. :hehe:

You know, I am not personally a fan of the savage worlds system, but they do have top notch products with great settings. Their editing is generally solid, though sometimes their revisions to the rules are a bit controversial. You can tell the folks care about trying to get it right.

Even though I am one of those people that isn't happy with all the revisions over the years, Pinnacle does a good job of maintaining broad compatibility over editions. It isn't hard getting my 2005 copy of Explorer's Edition to work with new supplements. I choose to view all the variations between editions as modular options.

I agree that their settings are strong. In general, they write settings with strong hooks that are complete and ready to use, with no expectation of endless additional supplements to flesh them out. Pinnacle learned a lesson from Deadlands, with its endless supplements, each teasing you about the next supplement to come in typical '90s style. With Savage Worlds, they have done a good job of making sure each book you buy give you all you need to run it.

Yeah, I've got a few of their settings, and the Explorer's edition. I like their work, Weird War is awesome, and many of their other settings are right up my alley, but for reason's I can't even articulate, I just don't "get" Savage Worlds.

I find that I really love the game when I play it live at a table. I still like it fine played via video chat or with a VTT, but just not at the same level.

Really don't want to get into GMS here. I had an intense personal dislike for the man before Kickstarter.

Gonna answer the original question instead:
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • He-Man and the Masters of the Universe / She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
  • Super Mario Brothers
  • Brütal Legend

. ONly problem: designing superpowers is a giant bitch

Quoted for truth. Holy crap the weeks and weeks I've spent on power write ups for Phaserip. And even culling it so it's all "useful" powers, I'm atill working with a list 5 times that of The Ultimate Powers handbook

Flash Gordon was on TV at 6 PM tonight and I’ve never seen it before. I figured I would give it a shot because of how beloved it is by many Pubbers. I made it to about the 45 minute mark before I turned on the baseball game.

I think the idea here is for a game based on the film rather than the comic strip.

They aren't different enough for it to matter really. The film was pretty damm faithful, just condensed the story

It may be one of those things you had to grow up with to really appreciate

Ok where is the link to the cool image mashup engine again? because I think I should start trying to get into the act.

I mostly use this: https://pixlr.com/editor/

But sometimes there are effects I need to do elsewhere before porting in, googling "free online photo editor" brings up a ton of sites

My Art teacher played that for us, back in Junior High, circa 1982.

I have it on CD and digital. "Come on Thunder Child!"
