"Ooh boy! I promise to shine'm real good so you kin see your face n'everything" Tybalt says as he goes to one knee and starts to pull off Ollie's shoes. Tybalt checks for hidden messages tucked in the shoe. " You boys can sleep soundly knowing old Tyb is a hard atta work cleaning your shoes all pretty like". Tybalt tucks Ollie's shoes under his arm and starts for the barn door.

Tybalt finds that the two outlaws' boots are fairly new but apparently seldom cleaned as they are caked with dried mud, twigs, bits of grass, dust, vomit, and animal excrement. They smell awful. There are no messages hidden in them.

"I'll go see if Wayne's back yet."
The response to MacRegan's inquiries of the Big J's hands reveals that Big Jim Wayne is currently down at the Lazy K Ranch with a few picked men and expected to pass the night at the Western Star Hotel in Saguaro, where he'll load up on supplies before returning to the Big J sometime tomorrow.

OOC: Ok, MacRegan will head back to the barn and look for Tybalt. Once he finds him he will tell him what's going on, and saddle one of the other RDP horses. Before riding out he will tell Cisco what's transpired and let him know that he and Tybalt will be in Saguaro tonight and plan to ride back with Big Jim tomorrow. They can find him at the Western Star if they need to get a hold of him.

'Well, apparently I just stole the boots off a man destined for the noose, that is a thing that happened' Tybalt thinks as he stands outside the barn staring at the acquired objects with a bemused inentisty.

Is anyone else riding with MacRegan and Tybalt?

If not, what are you doing while you're at the Big J?

Corbin heads out of the mess hall and glances around hoping none of the rest of the gang see him.

"Just a quick jaunt into Saguaro. Others probably won't head out till the morning, just gotta be quick" he thinks to himself.

He looks for his horse.

Corbin sneaks out of the mess hall and finds his horse has been well groomed and fed by Hernández. However, he also finds MacRegan and Tybalt in the barn, where they seem to be preparing their horses as well. Ollie and Chet Randazzo are still bound prisoners, but now they're barefoot and it appears Tybalt is stealing their filthy, dung-covered boots for reasons you can only begin to imagine.

"Well hey fellas, just out for a walk and notice the pair of you"

He glances at the prisoners and Tybalt.

"So any news?"

"News?! We got news!" says Ollie. "This 'un"-- nodding at MacRegan--"threatened to beat us with that whip!"

"An' the other done stole our boots!" adds Chet.

"Quiet you two Couillon! I'm talking to the two gentlemen, you two are hardly up to anything interesting"

" Yep, looks like a second bunch outlaws 'Blue Bandana Gang' has moved into town. Took out the bank and the assayer office at the same time. We think it might be a bit suspicious two outfits this organized operating in the same area and them be unrelated so their heading into town and seeing if we can find anything" Tybalt says then looks up at Corbin and says "Free boots?" offering the boots he's holding.

"Well if you don't mind Mr. Crenshaw certainly. Awefully kind of you" Corbin says taking the boots.

"I was about to ride into town on a personal matter, we could head in together"

"What the hell is this? Why you givin' this boy our boots?" says Ollie.

"Why'n't you take us into town and put us in jail?" says Chet. "It's better 'n gettin' whipped by this mean-eyed bastard!"

"Hush you" Tybalt says to Ollie.

"Smartest thing I've heard all day" Tybalt says to Chet.

"This will give us a chance to inspect the Sherieff's office and see if anything is going on beyond a sheriff that likes his nap time" Tybalt says to Corbin as he hands over the boots.

OOC: Tybalt is ready to leave at MacRegan's say so. Also is it day or night?

MacRegan looks at Tybalt and Corbin. "I am ready to go now, but I think I'll leave these two right here under Cisco's care until we return. Something's not right, and I am starting get a twinge in my right knee, which usually means trouble. A Sioux Medicine man once told me it was my guardian spirit, but I don't know if he just was funning me, or if he was liquored up. Either way, it's starting to twinge, and I hope that what I think is going on, aint. I'd rather not get bushwhacked by those fellows mates while we three are on the trail. We'll come back tomorrow, and all of us will take the prisoners in.
Saddle up boys, and lets ride. I want to get to town before sundown."
MacRegan glances at Corbin's prize before swinging up into the saddle. "Those fine boots you got there Corbin. That was nice of Crenshaw to give 'em to you."

"I'll go with you, if you've got no objections," Lars says.

He hurries out to get his horse. Best for him not to linger here too long, anyway.

Corbin pauses when hears MacRegan's remark.

"I hope it's alright that I took them Inspector" he says searching MacRegan's expression as he gets up on his horse.

"I don't see why not. Clean them up a bit and they'll look fine on you." MacRegan chuckles as he saunters over to mess tent, dismounts, ties off his horse, and goes in to look for Cisco.

I believe Black Vulmea Black Vulmea is on vacation in Idaho for the nonce, so we'd best move along without him until he returns.
The trail back to Saguaro is hot and dusty as ever, but your ride is uneventful until you reach the place where the road forks north to Tucson and south to Saguaro. At that point, just a couple of miles outside of town, you hear numerous hoofbeats on the southbound trail and when the dust clears you coincidentally meet Álvaro Álvarez de Chacón riding alongside two heavily armed Mexican men and two buckboards, each pulled by two horses. In the back of the first buckboard you see Álvaro's uncle, Lázaro Chacón de Muñoz, lying across blankets and hay placed there to make him as comfortable as possible after the beating he took yesterday at the hands of bandidos. In the back of the second buckboard you see a plain coffin, inside of which you have no doubt lies the charros' deceased rifleman.

ooc last I knew, Eugene was looking for the bunkhouse to get his shoulder seen to. I'm not getting impatient, just wanted to explain my radio silence. I've not been part of the unfolding drama (unless I missed something), so I've just been chillin'.

Sorry, I must have somehow missed that. We'll assume you found Rucker at the bunkhouse and this happened about 30 minutes ago:

Rucker, almost wordlessly, peels off your makeshift bandage and scowls at your wound before, without warning, pouring túlapai from a clay jug to disinfect it. If you've been stung worse, you don't remember when. He does the same to a small knife, which he then uses to dig out the slug, heedless of any pain he causes you. He drops the misshapen slug to the floor and uses a needle and thread to sew your wound closed. "You're lucky," he says. "You won't die if you keep cleaning it with alcohol until it heals."

"Much obliged, sir. How much do I owe ya?"

Rucker looks at you with dark, inscrutable, almost angry eyes and responds, "When I take a bullet, you cut it out of me and we'll be square."

Y'got y'self a deal", Eugene says, extending a hand. "As I said before, my name's Eugene. Ain't got no last name. I work for Tybalt Crenshaw, and I ain't never had a debt I failed to repay. Now, whereabouts can I get a bottle to treat this with?"

Rucker sullenly reaches under the blanket on his bunk and hands you a small bottle. "The bottle says whiskey, but I refilled it with túlapai. Whiskey is the white man's medicine, not mine."

"Thank you, friend. I'd better get back to the posse." Eugene pockets the bottle of Apache spirits gratefully, and goes to meet the rest of the party.

Corbin rides forward a bit to greet Álvaro.

"Monsieur, we keep meeting. How is your uncle?"

When Eugene returns to the mess hall, he finds Tybalt, Lars, MacRegan, and Corbin are nowhere to be found. Juan, Quinn, and Cisco are still on the ranch, though.
Corbin rides forward a bit to greet Álvaro.

"Monsieur, we keep meeting. How is your uncle?"
Álvaro Álvarez de Chacón replies, "He will live, and we will have our vengeance...in time. For now we return to Saguaro where he will rest before we return to Hermosillo. I fear he would not survive the journey through the desert in his current condition."

Eugene approaches the three.

"Howdy. Where are the other men? Are we riding back out soon?"

" I'm sorry for your loss. My name is MacRegan, Inspector MacRegan out of Fort Garry." He shows them his badge. " I am not from these parts, and just recently rode into town. Who, exactly, attacked you? How many were there? Have you seen them before?"

"No, señor," says Álvaro. "They were a group of perhaps six bandidos wearing red sashes and black sombreros. We were traveling to introduce ourselves to Big Jim Wayne, un gran ranchero, when these puercos came upon us out of the brush alongside the roadway como los coyotes. They stole our gold and killed mi vaquero Joaquín for no purpose, for they already had the gold and we made little resistance for fear they would shoot my uncle. Still they beat my uncle como salvajes sanguinarios. We have been to Tucson to see a doctor and acquire un ataúd para Joaquín. Now we head to this town Saguaro, which I spit upon for it has brought us nothing but misfortune."

"Mind if we ride with you Monsieur? Conversation can make a journey much shorter"

Álvaro nods and replies, "A larger group of armed men is not unwise in this dangerous place and time. Perhaps it will discourage those who might try to rob what they cannot earn."

Eugene approaches the three.

"Howdy. Where are the other men? Are we riding back out soon?"
Lucky Joe, now seated across from Redford, observes, "Yo' Mexican friend's either sleepin' or playin' possum. That Swede cook we done hired is sure doin' his best t' avoid workin' or bein' seen. I can't figger whether he's a wanted man or jus' lazy. I didn't see where yo' fancy-talkin' lawyer friend got off to. Why don't you set with us an' tell us what happened las' night? Looks like you took one in yo' shoulder."

Juan finally wakes up, and frowns on people talking over him during his sleep.

Eugene takes a seat near the man, and looks about for any whisky, readying himself to tell the tale of the previous night's events...

Juan also looks around. For tequilla.
"Did someone say my name, or was I just dreaming?", he yawns.
