A close friend of mine rented a server for Conan Exiles, we had a lot of fun playing almost every night for a good while. The wife really enjoyed it too.

FF Tactics was a great game. My only complaint is that it was too short.

I adored FFT back in the day. I used to regard it as one of the best TRPGs of all time. I played the heck out of it. I even wore out a disc I played it so much.

But nowadays whenever I try to play it again... It's just a clunky mess that I don't have the patience for. It just feels old and put together in a poor and overcomplicated way. Or maybe I just played it so much that I got completely sick of it.

I don't feel quite the same about Front Mission 3. I still think that one is a really good game. It just requires a bit more investment than I'm willing to give it nowadays.

Just started Witcher 2, very clunky feeling compared to Witcher 3.

Titanfall 2 is still a lot of fun.

True story. My Legion titan kept telling me to eject because we were outnumbered and hull integrity had been compromised. He sounded so sincere, so I ejected and kept fighting via the rooftops with my rocket launcher. I fell down off an awning and landed between two smaller robots and I thought I was dead, but my legion (who I thought had blown up) came ripping through, on fire, and saved me. I love you, too, Legion.

My wife finished Darkstalkers: Resurrection and Lapis Labyrinth and started playing Bloodstained which looks cool.

She's into the niche genre of visual novels as well and on her PS Vita she's playing something called Nurse Love Addiction. It's pretty hilarious so far.

I had to check what forum I was on for a second (I work for the company that published Nurse Love Addiction in English). There is also another game in that series called Nurse Love Syndrome.

I'm currently waiting on Dragon Quest Builders 2 to be delivered by UPS today. I loved the first game, and the sequel looks like a straight upgrade.

Back to Nocturne. This time I'll go for the true ending. Wish me luck.

So my copy of Dragon Quest Builders 2 came at like 7pm yesterday by UPS, so I just played all night and didn't sleep. /genius.

I bought that for the Xbox recently because I wanted a mech piloting game. Instead the beginning is some kind of Call of Duty wall running sniping game. When does the mech part kick in?!?

I never played the single player "story mode," I went right into multiplayer. They have two basic multiplayer modes, PVP (which is chaotic) and Defense (where up to 4 players fight waves of bots). I think in all three modes you start out as pilot. In Defense, the first round you're out of the titan and then the next four you are in it. But you can set it to do things with you running around.

Nocturne is good, but it has oppressive levels of random encounters. Like they are way too high (mostly because SMT battles are not fast if you are playing them efficiently, so every one takes a bit of time), and there are zero safe spaces in the game (even walking around "town" type areas have them.

I enjoyed my time with it in the past, but I doubt I'll ever play it again.

There's a skill that reduces the encounters rate. Don't know what demons have it, but I'm sure it's easy to find in wikis. Also, the emulator allows speeding up the game. I used it 10% faster in my 1st playthrough and it was spot on to me.

Yep. Have you played it? Great game. Addicting combat, impressive visuals and atmosphere for a PS2 game.
I have seen it being played. By my wife, obviously. It looked cool. She says she liked it a lot but she never finished it. She's a major SMT and Persona fan.

Finishing Detroit Become Human again, with a friend this time. Amazing how this game manages to be so brilliant and so shitty at the same time. It's branching decision-tree structure is a marvel, it's themes are nice and the atmosphere amazing. Yet the actual story goes downhill midway and never recovers, hurting the whole experience.

The first sign of this to me is Markus finding the resistence hideout, which scenes are full of cheap jumpscares and cliche. Then, when Kara finds the Monsters House it goes full corny territory and make me lose the capability to take it seriously.

Oh nice to hear that.... not. :irritated:

:hehe:

Having found Nocturne only last year, I'm amazed at how great it's atmosphere and visuals are. It even has some of that Dark Souls eerie minimalism that enriches its atmosphere. And its combat is the best in the series for me. I've finished Persona 5 and played 3 and 4 (3 is my favorite), and I think they went overboard with the visual novel aspect, too much reading on the screen. But they're all great games regardless.

Honestly I prefer the Digital Devil Saga games over Nocturne. They are wild LSD trips of stories though.

Heard good things about those. Do they run on PS2 emulator too? And would suggest playing both or is 2 clearly better to the point one should skip 1 entirely?

Gonna play Detroit soon since it is on PS Plus. Every game by Quantic Dream is a mix of the good and the amazingly bad. At this point it is part of the charm. For me the best parts of the games is when I can play a kid messing with their toys or Ellen Page showering and putting on a dress. Those weird everyday scenes are somehow more engaging than the ‘action scenes.’

2 is a direct sequel to 1 (same characters and everything), To understand the story at all, you really need to play 1.

My wife finished Bloodstained. She started playing Wizard of Legend and Dragon Quest Builders 1. As a videogame spectator I'm not entirely sold on Dragon Quest Builders 1 but Wizard of Legend looks cool.

Oh, she's also still playing Nurse Love Addiction. She read somewhere that this game turns really dark at a certain point...

Mechanics-wise I meant. Some series are notorious for giving a leap in quality between entries. Witcher, for eg. - I only recommend folks Witcher 3, as I find the continuity in story or lore is not worth the pain of enduring 1 and 2.

DQB1 was a lot of fun to me, but 2 is improved in pretty much every way. No more weapon degradation, weapon and hammer use different buttons and don't have to be switched between. Villagers are actually useful and do stuff (you can even drop a blueprint in your main island and put a chest with the materials nearby and they'll build it themselves), Town level system is no longer based on just what you build but on keeping the villagers happy (place to sleep/eat/stuff to do/etc.). Way more villagers per town (I have like 30 something in my home isle at the moment, plus 7 chickens and 8 dogs, and no where near maxing out). The chapters are now integrated into the home isle bit, rather than being a separate game mode, so it doesn't reset after every place you visit. You gain experience which causes you to gain levels (raises your hp, and you learn more weapon/armor recipes as you level). You have a travelling partner, and can bring more people along with you. Farming was made way more interesting and villagers can do it for you if you set up everything for it. Instead of separate parts for corners and such for things like roof tiles or cart track pieces they autoadjust to nearby pieces.

DQB2 makes 1 look like a tech demo.

Mechanics wise they are near identical. If there are changes I don't remember them. They both use the press turn battle system from Nocturne, the character growth stuff is just different as you are customizing a party rather than catching demons. Pretty sure they run on emulators fine.

I have got Nier Automata Become as Gods edition on Xbone One since it had a serious discout (33 % and all the game DLC). I have only played it one hour but so far so good.

And of course, 2B is becoming my waifu

It's in my top 5 favorite video games of all time. Such a fantastic game. I still like the story from the original NieR slightly more, but Automata's story and characters are still absolutely top tier for video game writing, and the mechanics are way better than the fist one.

I've found the game overstays it's welcome considerably, but if you endure it, the story is really great.

My wife counts Nier Automata among her absolute favourites.

I would recommand to play DDS 1 before playing DDS 2 since the story of DDS 2 would make little sense without playing DDS 1. And there is some loot and a secret character that would transfer from DDS 1 to DDS 2 (it is quite a minor thing but if your are completionist, I might be important for you).

I've been playing a lot of Slay the Spire, a deckbuilding rogue-like where you fight your way up The Spire, a dream-like tower full of monsters.

Really don't get what you mean, the main story is only like 20ish hours, it isn't a very long game at all.

I've found the second arc with 9S repetitive, due to both repeating partially the first route and to its hacking mini-game, which gets old fast. But as I said, it's worth it in the end. That final sequence (the tower ascension onward, including credits ) is amazing.

Btw, funny thing I always expected some spin-off games to come along, showing other sides of the war. But they never did. A shame, as this universe is so good.

Replayed Jedi Academy. Some things should be left in nostalgic memory. Dreadful voice acting and story and the combat was trivial.

Been replaying it lately myself. Not gotten past Vader's place 'cause it always crashes.

Out of curiosity what happens exactly? Quake III and other ID engines are a bit of a hobby of mine.

Goes into the cutscene after you kick the annoying guy's ass (Rosh? Roach?) and crashes to desktop at the end of it.

Old issue possibly where the engine works badly with modern hardware acceleration. Easy solution first go to the GameData folder and find jasp.exe and get it to run in XP compatibility mode. You might have already done this.

The Lamentation...

I'm a *ginormous* fan of the Battlefield franchise. Been playing it since the very beginning (BF1942), all the way to Battlefield 1 - which I played pretty heavily. My squad were all Division 1 players (top 3% in the world) in BF3 and BF4... and I missed those editions terribly. BFV - never picked it up. (DICE's politicization of the game completely removed me from playing). And it did make me a little sad (but I had other games to play... but deep down I really missed BF).

In the meantime - I've been looking for an FPS replacement. Nothing quite caught my fancy. So on a whim... I discovered that BF4 is currently the highest population in the Battlefield franchise. my old friend BF4 and I immediately became wistful.

The Realization...
I watched a couple of jackfrags vids, and he was having the best time. So I relented, and reloaded. Sweet Jeebus! And just like that - I'm back in the saddle again. Instant visceral awesomesauce slathered all over me like gun-oil. I barely have any rust. Within the day, four of my old squadmates fired it back up with a few more on the way. "Smell the Glove" (our squad) rides again!
