Ballsy

Someone raising money for their comic featuring fan fiction stories for settings created by other people (Gremlins, Die Hard and Lost Boys, based on the art and campaign page), and using a title that I'm pretty sure Marvel/Disney have trademarked.

Why the fuck am I bothering trying to create original stories and characters and settings and trying to sell people on them?

There are currently no FAQs...someone should make the first question "How much of the money you raise are you earmarking toward legal fees when you are sued by the trademark and copyright owners of the intellectual properties you are using without permission, and how much of your own money have you set aside since whatever you raise won't be nearly enough?"

It looks like he self financed the first two issues, which is probably how he flew under the radar...but then went the Kickstarter route for issue 3, which opens up the revenue stream...and the eyeballs of more people. Especially when Kickstarter starts seeding it into people's recommendations.

It'll probably be reported to Kickstarter and taken down. I would have informed them but I have no account there.

Is it parody? Parody is the protected copyright loophole that allowed Mad Magazine to exist.

I've been guilty of a few fanfic myself but I'd never ask for money. I don't own that stuff really. Mostly I get silly conversations between characters in my head. Aragorn and Conan discussing the art of ruling for example.
