OOC: Would Tandy know if the tailor shop is normally open or closed on Saturdays?

OOC: Would Tandy know if the tailor shop is normally open or closed on Saturdays?
Mrs. Zandofsky had her radio on, so you know she's not Orthodox and you're pretty sure they'd be open every day but Sunday since Saturdays accommodate customers unable to make it to the shop during the working week.

"...huh." Maybe the store had just been lucky, not being directly adjacent to the mass of rioters, and whoever was manning the shop had perhaps just closed the drapes and hoped for the best. She then looked at the stores near the tailor shop, to see if the liquor store and the newsstand had suffered any damage, when she stopped.

Fisk, she thought bitterly to herself, when she noticed the small warehouse for his spice trade. Most honest people, if they knew of him at all, simply thought of him as 'a humble dealer in spices'. Tandy knew better, even if she had never encountered the man personally, having once been drawn into a conflict between the Kingpin and his rival Silvermane.

Moving past the liquor store, she will work her way up the abandoned storefront next to it, and then make her way to the roof of the tailor shop, where she can view the shared alleyway that connected the back entrances both Mrs. Zandofsky's shop and the spice warehouse.

Sensing Spiderman nearby I call out ‘Should we let him go?’

Sensing Spiderman nearby I call out ‘Should we let him go?’

"Yeah, let him slink back into the sewers," Spider-Man says, trying to will his eyes to adjust to the darkness. "Vermy, try to stay out of trouble for at least a few days, okay?"

Spidey starts back towards the light coming through the front windows and door. "C'mon, DD. We need to make sure Scorpion and Sabretooth are secure and that we can get them safely on their way to Rykers."

I wave to Vermin to go and once he's far enough away I backflip and follow Spidey.

The liquor store and newsstand both appear to have been left alone, or at least there is no visible damage to either of them. In fact, none of the businesses sharing the block with the Fisk Spices Warehouse seem to have suffered much in the rioting. Perhaps it's merely happenstance or perhaps they were deliberately left alone...or protected.

Looking down now from the rooftop to the alley behind, you find it unlike others in the area: no overflowing garbage and accompanying stench--very odd given the striking sanitation workers. Someone would have to have a private crew or a powerful hold on the union. As you watch, a pair of burly men in coveralls exit the rear of the Fisk Spices Warehouse and lean against a parked delivery van. One man is swarthy and the other is pale as a hardboiled egg. The swarthy one lights a cigar and appears to be listening to the other, nodding his head in agreement.

"I'm the not the one who thinks fur is in fashion, fangface, you're in a costume too, and at least mine isn't accessorized with a fur boa." He says then paused before continuing. "Now play nice, and tell me who sent you, maybe just maybe if you do, I can make sure you get the nicest supercell at Ryker's."
"I can do Ryker's standing on my head...and while I remember your insults I'll think of all the different ways I can disembowel you. Or maybe I'll do the girl first and make you watch, tough guy."

Vermin runs off, followed by numerous rats, and disappears through a manhole, the cover of which closes behind him with a metallic clang.

Outside, Spider-Man and Daredevil find Sabretooth and Moon Knight exchanging barbs. The feral hired killer seems unfazed by his capture, and too confident by half given his circumstances.

You read his heart and pulse rates and lack of perspiration or other signs of stress to indicate he hasn't a care in the world, as though he fully anticipates escaping or being rescued in due course and figured there's no reason to exert any extra effort at anything more than taunting and goading Moon Knight.

The Scorpion is still securely affixed to the masonry atop Crum Apartments, though you're not certain how you'll get him down while the webbing lasts--or, if you wait for the webbing to dissolve, whether you'll be able to get him down at all. He looks angry as a hornet whose nest you've smashed apart with a baseball bat. He's muttering to himself, but you're too far away to make out anything more than his tone.

'Something is up,' I tell the others. 'Sabretooth is far too relaxed for a prisoner.' I reach out with my senses to see if I can detect anything.

"Yeah, he knows something's bigger is coming, but I wouldn't smile too much fangface, I might use you as a shield, Cap has one. I figure you can't be as useful if you don't talk, so might as well put you between me and harm's way. You ever think all the blood on your claws would ever come back to haunt you? " He pauses then says "Boo." with a very low voice as an obvious threat. While fingering a sharp-edged scarab dart.

Spider-Man swings up and lands near Scorpion. "You might as well take a chill pill, buddy. You're not going anywhere. Even if you do manage to free yourself again, I have plenty more webbing to snare you over and over again. You're heading to Rykers, I hear they already have a nice comfy bed for you. If you don't stop struggling, I might be forced to clobber you a few times until you stop. I don't wanna do that, so play nice and relax. We'll have you on your way to your new digs shortly."

While trying not to be seen from her vantage point on top of the roof, Dagger concentrates on trying to hear what the two men are saying.

You get a faint whiff of a vaguely familiar scent, like a ghost from the past, of someone you haven't encountered in a long while...as if Vermin, Sabretooth, and the Scorpion were recently all in contact with the same person...but it's like a worm wriggling in the back of your mind, frustrating you as you can't quite place it...

"I ain't scared of you craven super-types. You'd never hurt me now that I'm surrendered and helpless," laughs Sabretooth.

Sabretooth's unlikely use of the word "craven" makes you suddenly realize: you've scented Kraven the Hunter, with whom you and Black Widow tangled long ago* when you were living in San Francisco.

While trying not to be seen from her vantage point on top of the roof, Dagger concentrates on trying to hear what the two men are saying.
They're too far away and your angle looking down at them makes it impossible to read their lips. Whatever it is that they're discussing, they're just about done as the swarthy one has just reached into his pocket and is now jangling the keys to the delivery van. They look like they're about to drive away.

"Khonshu is not a god of mercy, Fangface. He is a god of vengeance," he walks around behind Sabertooth, "I am his knight, remember you've no idea how much blood a man may have had on his hands in the name of vengeance." He stays behind Sabretooth and has pulled out his Ankh, keeping watch on the prisoner, while watching for danger. "You can stand and walk to the police now, or I can simply drag you, your choice," he says to Sabretooth. Though he stays wary.

Blast it all! thought Dagger to herself ruefully. While these two were probably dirty, it was also possible that they were just a couple of guys employed by one of Fisk's legitimate business fronts. She didn't want to attack them without a better confirmation of them being involved in something illicit. More so, something big was brewing, and she didn't want to get separated from Spider-Man and the others. She knew it would probably be best to get back soon to where they were before they headed off in God knows what direction.

She'll take a moment to make a mental note of the model and color of the van, and if the angle from the rooftop permits, she'll try to get a good look at the license plate number and memorize it. After the van has left, she'll go down to the alley below and take a quick look around, looking for any possible clues and perhaps sneaking a peek through the back windows of the buildings that had managed to avoid being damaged by the rioting.

If there's nothing int he area that demands further action, she will then make her way back to the fight with Sabretooth, Scorpion , and Vermin occurred.

'Deep in to who?' I ask Scorpion.

Sorry, I would have posted sooner but I didn't get alerts on any of the PBPs that there were new posts.
'Deep in to who?' I ask Scorpion.
"Why should I tell you anything, horn-head?" sneers the Scorpion. "Did your redheaded Russkie girlfriend tell you how I thrashed her a while back?* She's lucky she's still breathing."

"Maybe you're a tough guy, but even if I believed you," says Sabretooth, "Spider-Man and Daredevil are a couple o' goody two-shoes and would never let you hurt a defenseless captive." However, he stands up with a shrug indicating he'll voluntarily surrender to the police as instructed.

Before the van drives away and turns out of the alley, you mentally take down the blue-on-orange New York license plate number 77-QDL and note that the van is a white Ford Econoline, probably an '83 or '84.

Dropping down to the now-deserted alley, you see a barred window high up on the rear of the Fisk Spices Warehouse, next to the door the two men exited. It's too high for you to see through without a boost, but fortunately there's a pile of wooden crates nearby, only some of which are broken. Using one of the crates, you can see through the barred rear window that the warehouse interior is dark except for a light burning in the office space overlooking the warehouse floor from the opposite side. You can see the silhouettes of two figures in the office, a man and a woman judging by their shapes, and they appear to be arguing based on their respective stances and gesticulations.

"I would count yourself blessed then." He says as he directs the bestial man towards the police. Keeping an eye on the Ankh. "For too few men have such guardians to watch over them. You and I have spilled blood...but it profits us very little if you knew the wisdom of that, then perhaps you would walk a better path." He dwells upon the blood he has spilled and spent. Knowing he wouldn't again in the service of profit.

Spider-Man does his best to antagonize Scorpion into spilling more details.

"Oh, come on Gargan. What fun are evil plans if they aren't shared with the class? Who are you jokers working for? Brag a little for us! Tell us how great your plan is! I bet there isn't anyone else, just you three, and you're pretty mad about the fact that we busted up your little party. If I'm wrong, let's hear it!"

Spider-Man makes sure that Scorpion is nicely bound up in webs, and will reinforce any areas that looks suspect. After that, he will prepare to carry him to the police.

Dagger will watch the figures in silhouette briefly, but unless their argument turns violent, she will eventually leave the alleyway and head back to where Spider-Man and the others are. Without knowing for certain if this tied in somehow to the appearance of the various supervillains at the riot, she was unsure if spending time investigating what was going on here might not be the best play. She had a feeling that whatever had triggered the riot, and brought Scorpion, Vermin and Sabretooth into the mix probably had a time limit in which things might be resolved for the best. As for Fisk, it wasn't like he was going to stop being a scumbag crimelord any time soon...

Once Voros Voros tells us what Daredevil does, I'll post another update.

'There is some devious schemer behind all this,' DD says. 'Scorpion, who has brought you and Sabertooth together and to what end?'

Before I post the next update, does Spider-Man want to hold off on departing with the Scorpion or does Daredevil want to go with Spider-Man?

As you imparts your hard-won wisdom to the captive Sabretooth, you sees Daredevil use the swingline built into his trademark billy club and swing up and across the street to where Spider-Man is securing his own captive, the Scorpion.

As you escort Sabretooth to the police, he squints at you and frowns, saying, "You really believe that nonsense?" Then he laughs and says, "Tell you what, it won't do you any good anyway so I'll tell you who hired me: Sergei Kravinoff, a Russian cat you may know better under his work name Kraven the Hunter. But who he's working for I don't know and I didn't ask."

As the police handcuff him and put him the rear of a patrol car, he laughs again and says, "I'll be out in a few hours. Better watch your six, 'cause I'm gonna track you down and take my pound of flesh."

Daredevil swings up to the apartment rooftop via his trademark billy club, where he finds Spider-Man taunting the Scorpion, who's been secured and bound with a fresh layer of webbing.

"You're the jokers if you think you can stop the boss!" spits the Scorpion. "Next time we meet I'm gonna crush you! You wanna know who hired me? Your old buddy Kraven the Hunter, that's who! He's not foolin' around, neither! We ain't the only one he's got on the payroll!"

Looking at the newly arrived Daredevil, the Scorpion adds, "You guys made a doozy of a mistake letting Vermin run wild. He's gonna make a beeline to Kraven and clue him in on your meddling super-team! Not only that, who do you think arranged for all those rats to be doped up with Kraven's experimental formula?" Then he lets loose with a malevolent laugh, resisting the whole way as you take him to a waiting patrol car.

As he's placed in the backseat he smiles and asks, "How long d'you think a cell will hold me once your webbing melts away?"

The argument in silhouette subsides without violence and the female figure exits the office and disappears into the darkness of the warehouse floor.

When you return to where you left the others, you see Moon Knight handing off a bound and chatty Sabretooth to one police unit while Spider-Man and Daredevil turn the Scorpion over to another police unit. The Scorpion is laughing loudly, but not with humor.

The rioting and looting seems to have subsided for the most part, almost as if something in the system of the rioters and looters has run its course. The police are out in force in the street, making arrests here and there but only taking the worst offenders as there are just too many people to deal with and it's nigh impossible to confirm who's done what outside of crimes that took place in sight of the officers.

Just to orient everyone, the police you've turned the captives over to are at the north edge of the map between Joe's Garage and Swill's Liquors.

After they take away Scorpion I head back to where I last saw Vermin and see if I can use my sense of smell to track him through the sewers.

"Well, keep walking until then, and thank you for the information. If you don't get out then, maybe, just maybe I'll talk to your lawyer about you being cooperative and compliant." Moon Knight laughs "but with the blood on your hands they may laugh me out faster than you." He says. Before passing him off.

"Hey Spider-Man, Daredevil, young lady who's a name I don't know yet--hang up a minute, I've got some information!"

"Hey Spider-Man, Daredevil, young lady who's a name I don't know yet--hang up a minute, I've got some information!"
"The name's Dagger," the young woman responded. "Spider-Man knows me. I also have some information, although it may be unrelated to whatever the Animal Brigade was up to here."

In a lower voice, where only the other nearby heroes can hear her, she adds, "It involves Wilson Fisk. I know Spider-Man knows that Fisk is actually a major crime lord, but I don't know if either of you have had dealings with him," she says to Moon Knight and Daredevil.

OOC: sorry, I just find the idea of Dagger asking DD "Hey, did you know Wilson Fisk is actually the Kingpin?" kind of hilarious. But it's not like she would know their history.

"I'm Moon Knight. Dagger, that is good to know. Sabretooth said someone brought in Kraven the Hunter, and he's involved in all this--if Fisk is a crime lord? Then he may be the money behind all of this, but I don't wish to rush headlong into assumptions."

DD chuckles, 'Oh I know Fisk...a bit. Let me see if I can track Vermin maybe he'll lead us to Fisk or whoever else is working for him.'

Once Scorpion is hauled off to jail, Spider-Man follows DD and the others to try to track Vermin down, feeling sheepish that he let the villain go in the first place. Of course, Sabertooth and Scorpion were the heavy hitters in this mess so far and he couldn't help but wonder if Scorpion was telling the truth about how deep Vermin was involved. After all, Vermin never impressed him as the smartest bulb on the strand. If Kraven was really calling the shots, all bets were off though.

"So Scorpion says Kraven is behind whatever this is," Spidey tells the others who might not have heard Scorpion's proclamation. "He says Vermin is probably heading straight to Kraven to report our involvement. You think you can track Vermin down, DD?"

DD chuckles, 'Oh I know Fisk...a bit. Let me see if I can track Vermin maybe he'll lead us to Fisk or whoever else is working for him.'
Moon Knight, Spider-Man, and Dagger see Daredevil make a beeline to where Vermin was last seen, stopping at a manhole cover. Daredevil easily removes the cover and descends into the darkness without hesitation. The other three see his red form merge with the blackness after only a few rungs down the ladder in the narrow shaft. It's curious that he didn't even stop to get a flashlight or ask Dagger to shine a light down the shaft for him.

You retrace your steps to where Vermin fled and remove the manhole cover. Climbing down the maintenance ladder, the darkness of course is no concern, and the lower temperature is, if anything, a relief from the blazing summer heat, but the torrent of foulodors is almost overwhelming. The sewer itself is about twenty feet below street level and runs northeast to southwest and there is a light trickle of water running southwest. Finding tufts of rat fur points you southwest as well, though you can't be certain how long the trail will hold given other creatures and smells are likely to be found down here as well.

Are you continuing solo or alerting the others to your findings?

"Huh, he must have really good night vision," Dagger says regarding Daredevil to Spider-Man and Moon Knight in a low voice. She then continues. "I have a friend who works at a shop not far from here, went to see if they were okay. Saw several people on the way, unconscious or pretty close to it, with what looked like bite marks from rats. We probably have out friend Vermin to thank for that."

"The part I'm not certain if it's related or not involves the shop in question and the ones adjoining it in the same building. A liquor store, a clothing shop, a newsstand... and a spice warehouse owned by Wilson Fisk. Even though they were pretty close to the rioting, none of those shops suffered any damage. Also, despite the garbage strike, there wasn't the overflow of garbage in the back of the building like we've all seen pretty much everywhere else in the city."

"A pair of big burly guys left the spice warehouse in a delivery van - a white Ford Econoline , recent model, license number 77 dash QDL. There was a couple inside the warehouse, a man and a woman, arguing about something, but I couldn't hear what."

"Like I said, I have no idea if it's any way related to the riot and the super-villain team-up of ugly, uglier, and ugliest. It might be completely unrelated. I'm no detective, but I wanted to hang out and see if I could find out anything else... but I also didn't want to lose track of you guys, especially since I don't have any way of contacting you."

I return to the others. ‘Vermin headed southwest,’ I say. ‘Dagger, which direction did the van you saw go? We should also check out this spice warehouse.’

"It started to head Westward once it pulled out of the back alley, but from where I was at I quickly lost sight of it," Dagger responds. "And hey, you've got good ears, as well."

OOC: edited to reflect further information being clarified.

"We may need to follow Vermin, and see if there is a connection. Though I don't think he's the most useful of the three."

He then looks to Dagger "Though it is very odd that those buildings were untouched--perhaps they were paid off to avoid those structures?" Moon Knight says then pauses when Daredevil sticks his head out.

"You know other people might be concerned that a horn-headed devil man sticking his head out of the sewers, but this is New York." as he looks over at the red-masked hero."How well can you follow his trail?"

He then looks to Dagger "Though it is very odd that those buildings were untouched--perhaps they were paid off to avoid those structures?" Moon Knight says then pauses when Daredevil sticks his head out.
"Yeah, that was my thought," Dagger admitted. "Also, with the lack of garbage piling up during the current strike, either someone paid a fair penny for private contractors to clean it up... or maybe someone with enough power and influence with the unions to have someone do it anyways." She doesn't mention Fisk directly by name, but then, she probably doesn't have to.

DD smiles at Moon Knight's joke and reminds himself to not giveaway too much to his fellow supes yet by reacting to their conversation when he is out of conventional earshot. 'In the sewers I'm likely to lose his trail...I suggest we check the warehouse and then search southwest of here if we don't find anything of interest in the warehouse.'

"Sounds like a plan, though, with Vermin's rat-allies, the sewer may be where he is most comfortable."
