Monolith try their hardest to make this KS as difficult as possible to understand but the essence is that they are KS a new skirmish game using the Conan system and existing minis across all their lines.

The KS starts on 6 Jan and runs only 7 days.

There is also a campaign book and box of the new sculpt minis for fans of the existing game.

you are right, they did make it as hard as possible to understand. I'm very happy with my conan stuff from them, but I would still like the promised app. it's not critical, but... well, it's part of it

Most details are out now and it got mire and more confusing the more they tried to accomodate every customer complaint

So I need to buy a 24 euro base box and one of the 45 euro expansions?

Fuck me, you weren’t kidding, this thing is ridiculously complex.

I wish Monolith and Cmon would just sell their game miniatures instead of coming up with these ridiculous Limited Time kickstarters. It’s like they open the floodgates whenever the owners want another vacation.

Hm, one of those expansions has the most awesome painting of a figure on the cover, and none of the minis included look ANYthing like it.

IT's like a box having a wicked painting of Boba Fett on the cover, but all you get are IG-88s and Stormtroopers

Depends what you want and what you have got already.

It’s a pain. This is Monolith trying to fix their business model by creating a skirmish mode that uses all the minis they already have for which no scenario was written for. At this point, I think they would have been better off just repackaging it all and saying that’s it, rather than trying to appease all of its previous backers.

There is so much here that is about dealing with their high maintenance backers. Which, I kind of understand, since Monolith Kickstarters can be upwards of $300. I would tell them to kick rocks though.

This is also the fix for saying certain things were Kickstarter Exclusive. That's why they are remaking so many of the miniatures, is they are launching a webstore where you will be able to buy these things a la cart, so the new stuff is no longer exclusive, even though it implements the same content. They basically have fallen into every kickstarter promise trap, and unlike other kickstarter companies, they aren't really making a clean break or just going "sorry, not sorry" where the business side becomes to difficult or unsustainable to keep their kickstarter promises.

If they’re opening a webstore and let me pick minis instead of teams, they’ll make a lot more money from me in the long run.

They are, starting with the Batman GCC season 2 stuff.

The discount e-mail just about finished me, and the Kickstarter preview makes things worse. Just let me buy some frickin' minis!

It now starts on the 13th of January, while they bring in some high-dimensional topological mathematicians to untangle everything.

Okay, first point my group loved their Batman game and went in on the season 2 wave because we enjoyed playing so much. Second point has anyone played their Conan game and what they thought of the gameplay and replay-ability value? Additionally, do you have to fill out the loyalty form before the start of the Kickstarter or can you wait and debate the pros and cons till the last days?

I don't own a copy, but I have played Conan a couple times. I do own Batman though.

Conan is Batman but with simpler scenarios. Also, it is mostly focused on combat, rather than other objectives. Rules wise they are mostly the same.

Speaking of not owning Conan: if someone here bought into the OG Conan kickstarter, but is not buying into the new one, I would happily take a sponsored discount

I picked up the Conan base game when MiniatureMarket was selling it for $42 shipped. I haven't played it but I like the minis. I'm tempted on some of the scenarios they are selling. I

I have played both quite a bit though I only own Conan now. I think Conan is a better game. It has a few rough edges that were smoothed over in Batman, but the gameplay in Conan is just quicker and more fun. There is a greater emphasis on action and combat in Conan which we found suited the system better than the more task oriented scenarios in Batman.

As to replayability, both games suffer a little in this regard IME, which is one reason why Monolith is looking at a VS system. However, there are lot of scenarios that have been released for Conan so this hasn’t been an issue for us, though it might if it saw more heavier use.

Wow. The KS comments section seems to be turning into a dumpster fire

It seems like "lets make a system for all the minis we have so we don't have to make many more injection moulds, but so we can sell minis and backstock." not that that is bad per se, but also seems like they could just sell minis and backstock without this overly complex business.

Yeah, Batman "Season 2" was equally a wtf moment. I don't know who is in charge of Monolith's marketing dept, but I think they need a lot of help.

I have some of the minis and I'd be up for more. They take paint well, and are nicely detailed.

This fustercluck isn't happening though, and I'm just not paying for all that cardboard.

same. i have the geomorphs. they are not appropriate size for the minis, and I regret buying them. I got the big Conan one, and haven't painted most of them yet - looking over the list, i'd rather just buy individual minis. They are good minis

What do people think are the best minis? I am tempted by the one with the black dragons minis.

I have some Black Dragons that I use in my Middle-Earth Easterling force, and I'd say all the Aquilonian stuff is great. The animals and monsters are also great.

Some of the finer-detailed figures looked a bit poor - Belit for example - but on the whole they're good minis.

I think that's pretty subjective. For me, it's less about artistic quality (though they are all good), and more about usefulness in the game. Thus, I've painted crossbowmen, skeletons, and picts. I've not used the pirates because I have a mess of D&D pirates, but I like the conan ones quite a bit. Thog and the winged demon are good, and so is the tentacle monster thing i forget the name of. While the sculpting on the protagonist minis is good, they aren't unique enough for me to really think about - big man with sword, big man with armor and hammer, etc. Not bad for PCs, but not generally my side of the table.

I read that as "Monolith and Crom", FYI:grin:!

Looks like I'll do the Legacy Box to catch up on Conan. After that, maybe piecemeal. Can't do anything crazy like the $350 pledge now, so I'll go small and stay home.

There seems a very real chance this may not actually fund in any case.

And its now dead. Fred Henry sounds defeated, but seems to understand that Adventure Mode is where its at. A smaller Conan KS focussed on AM is promised but I am not holding my breath.

I guess I am not very surprised. Their concept didn’t make sense to me.

The guy sure was forthright in saying he was good and wrong about thibgs

So Monolith are doing a KS next month with all the new sculpts from the Legacy Pledge, some new minis to round out the box, the Tome of Skelos, and the Temple map. This will make it effectively a deluxe expansion to the core box.

There is also talk of another KS to allow old add-ons to be repurchased later on.

Not much in regard to the VS Mode yet, though some comments that it hasn’t gone away.

Sweet, more Conan minis and maps, what every Conan player wanted, without having to pay a PvP box with no minis.

Snapped up one of the last European King Conquerors, but still on the fence. It's a massive set of figures.

If I think about dropping the pledge, I'll post here to co-ordinate with anyone who's interested.

As promised, I don't really want or need into this.

If anyone wants a King Conqueror (Europe) pledge, drop me a line to co-ordinate.

For people following along, the KS now has two Add-Ons - a pirate campaign with two dual level ship boards and a Kull set of miniatures with scenarios.

There is also 4 large monster minis released as SGs from Monoliths other games.

There is a new add-on with two secret room tiles and 2 scenarios. I have always thought that the real value add-ons are scenarios as they add more playability to the game. As such, I am pleased with this.

Fingers crossed that we have Brule as a SG for the Shadow Kingdom Add-On.

And completed. A successful campaign, especially in light of the BtM hiccup. Sounds like Monolith will also be reprinting some of the hard to find KS exclusives for sale in the PM.

The pledge manager has proved to be another mess. It’s really hard to work out how Monolith can do better with backers who don’t read the updates and like to vocally blame any failure on Monolith. I found the process to be relatively smooth myself, though the location locked items are an annoyance.
