They're recommending avoid large groups and be prepared to spend time isolated. Specifically stock up on games to entertain yourselves during two weeks of self isolation.
That's right folks the CDC is saying the budget for games is officially increased! Tell anyone saying you have too many you need games as badly as hand sanitizer and beans!

Any player types zombie games you'd recommend?
Meh not really. I don't play them really that much. It was more of a joke.

I have played Zombicide, Zombicide Black Plague, Zombies!!!, Student Bodies and zombie dice
Black plague I probably liked best but Student Bodies had a nice feel to it.

Oops, was not really meant as a serious request! Just wanted to respond to your joke.

I think I may avoid apocalyptic games for the time being.

I dunno how bad it’s going to get, but the general assumption that things will just blow over hasn’t really happened yet.

Yup, the hysteria is just starting to slowly hit Australia now...

I'm going to do my part by sitting in the dark, listening to Warren Zevon, and designing more levels in Mario Maker 2 for those poor quarantine victims in Asia!

I'm at the epicenter of the US outbreak. Wife has gone full prepper. Personally I think we have a new slightly worse flu going around the particularly hits the elderly and ill. That's my parents so I'm a bit concerned. My dad is in New Zealand(Nelson) for three weeks so I'm hoping the healthcare system down there is better than ours. Fortunately other than being old and a little back/knee issues he's in great health.

It's going to sound horrible all the news coming out of the Seattle area for a while. We only have enough tests to test the obviously sick right now. We know it's infected an old folks home so the ratio of known sick to dying is artificially high. Yesterday it was 18 confirmed cases to 6 dead. As more testing gets out it will show much lower general lethality but for now grocery stores look very busy with whole aisles empty. God help you if you don't already have toilet paper.

But deaths and rates of new infection in China are dropping so I draw comfort in that.

The healthcare system is free and fairly good but suffers from a persistent brain drain overseas due to underfunding and NZ's fabulously over-spec tertiary education system. If he has travel insurance he should be OK. Nelson used to be full of hippies (and is top-notch weed growing country) but cheap flights have put it in Wellington's commuter belt so it's gentrifying now.

NZ is highly paranoid about biosecurity[1] so they have tight border controls.

But The CCP says deaths and rates of new infection in China are dropping so I draw comfort in that.
There. FTFY.

Regarding (1) I the left all those with Mom so no worries there

Re CCP statements. I take them with a grain of salt but I think the massive quarantining worked to drop rates. Honestly I think China was the worst place for an outbreak and everywhere else will see better results. Lots of old men who smoke leading to lots of deaths.

To say nothing of shitty air quality.

Yeah. We just got a nursing home hit here in Kirkland. I'm personally not very worried about it (particularly as compared to all the other shit floating around out there), and the wife I'm pretty sure is more-or-less blissfully unaware as she avoids any form of news like a (the?) plague. In any case, there's really not a whole lot we could currently do in terms of prepping anyway. The reality is that now we just have to try *extra* hard to avoid Costco and the local stores because they have been fucking nightmares lately. The panic is out of hand, and the sensationalism of the news cycle isn't helping. Certainly not Y2K levels but it reeks a bit similar what with the mask prices, water bottle race, etc.

Anyway, it's mostly just sort of annoying that it's all anyone ever wants to talk about currently. Particularly as I work in the healthcare sector, so all I do all day is absorb the bombardment of cross-talk and phone calls about it for 8 hours before I can finally go drink my migraine away.

I knew there was a good reason I bought two supplements for Four Against Darkness yesterday! One of them adds a wider variety of minions, and the other allows for shorter games.

Don't forget The Fantasy Trip in your prepper purchasing; it is certified fresh, hot off the presses, and specifically engineered for solo play and drawing in reluctant new players!
I keep forgetting I own this box! I've been using it as a temporary playstation stand in lieu of hanging an actual shelf in our new apartment... :errr:
Tons of great stuff in there though! I did at least unwrap everything and drool over the components.

We’re lucky in that SARS-2 doesn’t seem to be as deadly as SARS or MERS and so far is killing people with underlying conditions mainly.

Influenza viruses seem to have waves, where the first wave isn’t bad, but that’s frequently followed by a second wave that hits harder once the virus mutates a bit. I don’t know if the coronaviruses have that tendency or not. I kind of hope that if I’m going to get it, I get it early.

My wife is guzzling the news. My pantry is stocked. Meds good to go! Let me know what the world looks in six months when I leave the house. Maybe we could meet up and play TFT

That would be cool! Or at least, once your wife clears you to unseal the bunker. There are a decent few of us around here running local games. I am aware of at least one group of fairly high-visibility forumites that gather at some gaming club weekly over in Ballard to chuck bones, though unfortunately due to transportation and timing issues I have yet been unable to join.

Ballard is in the Deep Seattle. I used to live there and commute to Kirkland. Not a pleasant work drive for sure.

I live on the far North Eastern edge of the US and I currently have 53 email threads since February with "Corona Virus" as the topics. We're definitely ready to get ready to have a plan.

I work in grocery for a living and watching people grab shit off the shelves that they never usually buy is something to behold. For instance, powdered milk sells about one or two cases a year in stores around here. Coronavirus on the way...blown out.

All I can say is that people must think wrapping oneself head-to-toe in toilet paper will be an effective preventive measure

Toilet paper supplies are gutted from the grocery shelves here

On the other hand, Kleenix must be having all-time record sales. So if you want to find opportunity in crisis, there's a new business venture for you heh heh

I might have mentioned it but we went into Costco on Friday morning. My wife arrived before it opened. Long line and she wondered"is this normal?". Nope. She went in and incidentally grabbed a big bottle of hand sanitizer off the pallet of them. Her friend who arrived 5 minutes after waited 15 minutes to park and when she got in it was all gone.

Wife's gone full crazy. If we are put in self isolation for some reason only one if us may come out

MMmmmmm, powdered milk

Yeah, ugh. Or even on a Friday night when people flood in for bar hopping, restaurants, shopping, etc.
People are definitely stockpiling supplies, it’s getting crazy. I wonder if people are stockpiling ammo as well.
I don't know if I would consider it "stockpiling," but I'm sitting pretty on my little stash.

Unrelated, the corona virus craze has officially smashed into my work. There are now flyers being posted everywhere, I just got out of a three hour meeting on safety procedures and alternate supplier sourcing to reduce our reliance on Chinese imports, and they are now doing a cleaning sweep from building to building (and now it's going to be mandatory to wipe down all of our desks twice daily with some sort of caustic chemical requiring nitrile gloves, lol). They are also telling us to report employees we believe could have the virus which is, uh, interesting but I suppose understandable given the circumstances.

Your address again and hours you work were???
