The upside to coronovirus!

Italy is now under complete lockdown countrywide.

All travel is forbidden, unless necessary for work or emergency reasons. Any public gathering is likewise forbidden. All sports have been stopped at the national level. Bars and restaurants must close at 18:00. All schools are closed, alongside museums, gyms, pools, theatres, cinemas, pubs, discos etc. etc.

I need to move between three municipalities for work. Hopefully I won't have troubles tomorrow...

I was thinking the other day about what would happen if there was an actual apocalypse with the way people behave under the current conditions. The other day a fellow who works in one of the stores I visit said that two ladies spent ten minutes fighting over a container of wipes.
Reminds me of The Postman (The book, not the Kevin Costner... thing). It wasn't the bioweapons or the nuclear war that destroyed society. It was the rabid survivalist and anti-government folks attacking the food reserves and emergency personal that destroyed society.

Here in France, things haven't changed much (notwithstanding the shortage of masks, of hand wipes, of honesty and decency in our political class, etc.) except people are not supposed to give one another pecks on the cheeks when meeting. We French love our pecks on the cheeks - this virus won't do at all, cher ami !

And our president said there should not be gatherings of more than a thousand people - I think (I don't listen to him anyway: he's an unsufferable little c...nt).

Jesus Wept. Good luck.

But hang on - don't you have any virus protection on your electronic device?
Wouldn't that stop it, or is the coronavirus so recent that the antivirus software makers not have an update for this yet?
Jebzuz! Haven't you been paying attention! IT'S NOVEL!!

Technically, Covid-19 is a zero-day exploit and the world is struggling to patch their OS install base. But that 14-day reboot period is the real pain in the ass...
And you have to get each program to agree to a patch. There's billions of programs. Almost none of them have auto update options

Someone posted this on RPG.net before the mods shut the whole thing down because nothing is allowed to be in any way fun if it was ever serious for any reason.

I work in local government, and we're starting to think about it. Not enough remote connections for home workers by a factor of ten, so our service company is rubbing its proverbial hands with glee. I may get drafted to help with Fire and Rescue, which I do a lot of work for, or emergency planning as an IT techy.

I'm over 50, have lifelong asthma and I'm currently taking immuno-suppressant drugs, so I'm hoping they'll tell me to go home and play goddamn games for a while. I have an unfinished online campaign in Fields of Glory 2, another in Arma and none of us is allowed to die until they're finished.

Also 400 unpainted minis... what more life insurance do I need?

Downside is I'll probably pass on the Hammerhead games show on Saturday

While there had been a couple of confirmed cases here in Georgia, today it was announced that there has been another confirmed case, this time of a Waffle House employee in the metro Atlanta area.

Anyone who knows anything about the South will understand that this means we are most likely fucked.

It was nice knowing you guys...

Speaking as a Texan, I have never set foot in a Waffle House

Damn! Wafflehouse? Whole state is gone.

You sir are not a southerner. Your a God damn Texan.

As an Arizonan by birth, who has lived in Texas for over a decade now, I am saddened by the knowledge that Texas natives will never truly accept me as one of their own. This they cannot help, it is a part of their unconscious mind. My sadness however, is ameliorated by the knowledge that I was born in the greatest state ever to exist in any of the known universes or timelines.

I was born in Michigan too!

Good gracious! Local businesses are going to get hit hard!

I am supposed to go to my first con in May... may not happen, more like. We'll see. I'm scheduled to run a couple of one-shots. But who knows...

Have you considered Fantasy Grounds, out Lord and Savior?

382 cases, 4 deaths. Utrecht: 14. Houten: 13.

Most cases in the southern cities of Breda (27) and Tilburg (29).

We're adviced to stop shaking hands...

So the greatest state ever to exist - Arizona? Michigan?

Y'all have funny ways of spelling "Scotland" :hehe:

Bless.

Your.

Heart.
I can't remember. Is that southern for "go screw yourself" or actually a compliment or either depending on the encounter. I'm not southern only related so I lose some of the nuances.

It’s usually a passive aggressive put down, yes. I find it incredibly entertaining.

The NCAA announced that they are going to play their basketball tournaments without any fans in attendance.

Welp. Not even 48 hours, and thus no way of checking whether the previous decree had any effect, and we already got a new one: now everything is closed, including pubs and restaurants. The only stores allowed to stay open are the vital ones like pharmacies and food stores. And you can be stopped by the police even while "traveling" on foot.

Only thing left at this point is military-enforced 24/7 curfew for Italy to officially become a chinese-like dictatorship.

First confirmed case on a north sea rig this morning, along with a few onshore ones, so that'll spread through Aberdeen in the next week or so. Half my office has been told to work from home if they can, the other half of us are still going in. A couple of my team members are old and not terribly fit guys, so I'm kinda hoping they stay home for their own sake, but they've been in the last few days so the damage is probably already done.

My daughter is terrified of it, despite the nice doctors from kid's TV explaining the actual danger level pretty well.

Not much we can really do other than hunker down and wait for it to run it's course. I'm well stocked for toilet roll, at least.

Here is the perfect protection wear, for all of you.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules here.

City of Chicago cancelled the St. Patrick's Day Parade & river dyeing. I have no particular feelings about the parade, as I find parades pretty boring, but I do enjoy the river dyeing.

A lot of my friends are being told to, or at least given the option of, working from home, but that's not possible in my line of work.

I have tickets to two events that will involve medium-sized gatherings in the next couple of weeks, so I'm hoping those don't get cancelled. Specifically, a film festival and an indie pro-wrestling show, each of which would draw a few hundred people.

I think this is going to freak my wife out enough my game nights going to be cancelled for a while.

Might be able to try running some FG game Tuesday 8-11pm Pacific time.

See if you can get a refund now my Friend. If you were in Seattle those would now be against the law.
