Had to look him up. I forgot he was in The Tudors. Good actor but worst Superman ever due to the scripts and direction he received.

Cavill posted about his love of Games Workshop and 'plastic crack' minis and painting on Instagram, causing a collective Nergasm on the net.

Poor bastard. He's going to have to take a ton of parts to pay for the habit. I swear getting into single malt scotch is cheaper (but then a bottle lasts me over a year).

Check out the film version of Man from U.N.C.L.E. where I found him charming and dryly witty. I don't recall the series very well but the film is a fun tribute to the slightly campy spy films and tv series of the 60s and 70s.

He was great in that. But his Superman did suffer from outside issues.

I had some problems with the film, but Cavill's performance wasn't one of them.

I think Cavill could have been a legitimately great Superman, if he had been given better scripts and a director who actually understood the character.

How's his stint as the witcher going?

I was skeptical at first, but he sold me by the end of the first episode, and frankly carried that series.

I really liked his Superman in Man of Steel for about 3/4 of the film. It's a shame he wasn't given longer to breathe in that role.

I just binged it the other day. He worked pretty well as Geralt and was engaging enough as a protagonist. Anya Chalotra (the woman who played Yennefer) did a passably good job as well. My main criticisms of The Witcher came down to its monster-of-the-week-ishness[1], and the dialogue was a bit crap in places. Plus, the fanservice was rather laid on with a trowel, to the point where it got in the way of the story a bit. I think the writing was the series's weak point; it was pretty well acted.

Now, having said this, I haven't read the books or played the video games, so this is really just an assessment of the series as a Swords-and-Sorcery fantasy.

Yeah, there’s two sides to the Witcher stories - the short stories, which are very much Monster of the Week, and the Ciri Novels. Mixing them can be weird, because Yennefer is much older than Geralt, and Geralt is much older than Jaskier and Ciri.

There was a news story from years back where Peter Jackson had placed a credit card order with a miniatures shop, and the owner then used his credit card to spend nearly $200,000 to keep his business afloat..

Didn't Schilling buy Advanced Squad Leader from Amazon?

Avalon Hill I meant instead of Amazon. Blame that on autocorrect.

Maybe? I only know about these form forum/facebook group posts. I don't actually follow after celebrity gaming habits

Also Stephen Colbert, Deborah Ann Woll, Joe Maganiello are all former and current D&D nerds. Colbert's a huge Tolkien nerd as well. Many, many authors too and not just fantasy authors.
