Eloise sets course for the Class C Starport, scanning for any other ships or space debris along the way.

Volodimir just goes back to the ship, after the others. Hopefully they'd have nice drinks on that planet!

Eloise punches in the yacht's new course for Włocławek Six, but piloting also requires manual control due to the damaged port maneuver drive.

Krovopuskov remarks, "We should probably announce ourselves. They may not be expecting us, or happy to see us for that matter, but it's common courtesy out here to let anyone use the facilities as long as they're peaceable. You never know when you'll be in distress and need a stranger's hospitality." The old man narrows his eyes and adds, "But don't act too curious or ask too many questions about their business. And if they ask about ours, we should have a story ready."

"I get it that "we're honest pirates" wouldn't do?", Volodimir observes. "So what else could we be? Can we set you up as royalty in exile from a very distant planet...without paying a surcharge on the repair, I mean? If not, any other ideas?"

As the Stella Maris approaches the planet under Eloise's guidance, Krovopuskov transmits a standard greeting but shakes his head in confusion and says, "There's no reply at all. I don't understand. They should at least have an automated response."

"Could whatever hit us have hit the planet too?" Trip asks.

If I can scan the location from our postion I do so to see what I can determine.

There is a landing tarmac exposed to the elements, with what is obviously a small control tower with numerous antennae and sensory equipment mounted atop its exterior, as well as what looks to be a platform for descent into the station below ground. There is a large freighter sitting on the tarmac close to the platform. Nothing appears to be damaged but there is no apparent activity, which strikes you as unusual for a commercial enterprise even if most of its operations take place underground. Red and green landing safety lights on either edge of the tarmac blink regularly, indicating no lack of power or maintenance at the starport.

If we still get no response I bring the ship in for a landing.

'Something isn't right, we need a cover story and some guns for backup.'

Trip heads for the weapons locker and gears up. Concealed weapons if it appears someone is coming out to greet them and an assault rifle by the hatch should things be deserted or hostile. He grabs some extra water packs and energy bars to eat. A backpack with extra ammo sits next to the rifle

Volodimir follows Trip's example almost exactly, without being aware of it.

Nils simply stands back from the airlock and takes a look outside via the ship's windows to get an impression of what kind of planet Włocławek Six is.

As there is no response, Eloise begins your descent to the starport. As your damaged craft makes its approach you see a wide expanse of craggy volcanic rock jutting up irregularly to immense heights--the smallest being perhaps the kilometers--all around the tarmac, and a heavy wind that sprays tiny particles of rock against the hull of the Stella Maris. The atmosphere is dominated by dense pale yellow clouds of sulfur. There are no visible bodies of water and no visible foliage on the surface: you imagine any significant activity and resources must be located below ground. As you are near to touchdown, you the starport appears abandoned.

Volodimir just waits to see whether anyone is planning to contact them, and for some reason is thinking that if you stare at the sulfurous clouds, they look like a combination of shadow and flame.
Shadow and flame? What bullshit! He needs a strong drink, clearly...but now ain't the time.
"I'd recommend that we treat it as a place that requires quarantine", he says on the internal comm system.

"Bleak" Nils begins "A mining world?"

He turns to Krovopuskov.

"Assuming we get repaired, what jump distance are we from your alien ship?"
"One jump," replies the old man. "But we need to obtain sufficient fuel to get there and back. We should be able to--" his voice cracks and he breaks off into a nasty hacking off before finishing the thought "--get it here."

Voros Voros: since there is no homing beacon or ground control to assist you in landing, and your yacht is rather beat-up, let's have a Pilot roll (no modifiers) from Eloise just to make sure nothing goes awry.

Sorry for the delay: I had to get out my Traveller box where I stored the 3x5 cards with all the PC write-ups to verify what level Eloise's Pilot skill is.

The Stella Maris at first seems to touch down gently, but then due to the damaged port maneuver drive goes into a spinout on the tarmac, pivoting at its center of gravity and turning counterclockwise over and over too many times to count until the yacht dips to the left and you can feel the port side of the vessel scrape against the ground at a speed approaching sonic; then the front end dips dangerously close to the tarmac before you skid to a halt only feet away from colliding with the small control tower. The good news is that you've successfully landed at the starport on Włocławek Six; the bad news is that your yacht may have sustained even worse damage than it already had.

Let's have everyone roll 2d6 vs. Endurance: you want to roll under your Endurance or else you vomit all over yourself and anyone nearby. Anyone who was in a safety restraint gets -2 to his roll.

Roll = 6 (Endurance 7) Didn't refer to a safety restraint so make of that what one will.

'Yee-hah Gentlemen!' I yell upon landing. Laughing at the fact we're still alive.

"Oh crap. We're still alive", Volodimir says on the phone after his stomach calms down.
"Err, I mean, I'm glad we're still alive", he clarifies.

OOC: I rolled a 4.

Trips stomach churns as they spin. Turning several shades of green he looks Volodimir straight in the eye before emptying the contents of his stomach all over V's chest, pants and shoes.

"Sorry" he says sheepishly.

"Correction: everyone is alive but Trips. And I need to remove biotraces from my clothes", Volodimir announces on the internal speaker system.
Then he rises up and goes to clean his clothes without a word more.

Nils tries hard to keep his food down, but hurls up everything he has eaten over the last few days in a violent stream.

He shivers when it is over.

OOC: Nils has Endurance 2 and I got an 11

I'll be updating this on Monday. Sorry for the delay but I'm currently occupied with some unforeseen issues and won't be online at all until then.

Krovopuskov not only vomits across the navigation station, but also begins to struggle to breathe afterwards due to a hacking cough. He wipes a bit of dribbled blood and spit on his sleeve and remarks, "I hope they have the parts and fuel we need."

Outside the tarmac is pockmarked and barren, and beyond its black edges the ground is rocky and inhospitable. The entrance to the small control tower is the only visible access point to the starport and whatever facilities lie below ground. The atmosphere requires the use of vacc suits or other self-contained breathing apparatus.

Trip cleans himself off and begins putting on a vacc suit.

"Control tower I assume?" He asks on the comms.

Nils likewise gets himself ready into a vacc suit and nods to Trip's control tower idea.

'You go ahead and I will stay here with the old man, and start on repairs,' Eloise proposes, 'in case anything goes wrong.'

Volodimir shall finish cleaning himself up before putting a vacc-suit on.

"They should have a repair crew here," Krovopuskov replies. "And spare parts."

Anyone who wants to clean himself/herself can be assumed to have done so.

Trip, Nils, and Volodimir descend the functional but shaky ramp down to the tarmac and are immediately buffeted by the strong wind and tiny particles of yellow matter making little tic-tic-tic sounds as they strike their vacc suits. As you approach the main entrance of the control tower, there is still no sign of life or activity. Looking around, you also see off to the left an adjoining hangar with sliding doors wide enough to accommodate a mid-sized starship's entry and exit, as well as cargo. Near the sealed hangar doors is a forklift that has obviously been left exposed to the elements for some time: you can tell it was painted a bright orange to make it easy to see through the haze, but most of the paint has now been stripped away and the forklift is largely just a dull grey. Surveying your surroundings, visibility is very poor at more than a hundred feet or so and the world appears mainly as a thick yellow haze with the vague shapes of volcanic rock outcroppings here and there beyond the edge of the starport.

I say to the old man. 'Let's wait for them to check and make sure everything is safe and they'll send the repair crew...if there is one, something doesn't feel right.' I check the condition of the ship to see if we can get airborne in case we need to beat a retreat

Trip checks to see if the forklift will run.

Nils will slowly move along the perimeter of the control tower looking for a personnel entrance.
