It doesn’t work that well. The guy that played Han in Solo has his own tics that don’t look right when Harrison is laid over his acting. It’s one of the reasons I’m not really a fan of doing this unless the actor is going for an exact re-enactment. Even Guy Henry wasn’t trying to be an exact match of Peter Cushing in Rogue One, but Peter’s family gave their blessing when asked so it was OK from that point.

Youtube's algorithm must have actually been working today, as it said I might like this, which I did!

It's got a lot of the deleted or unfinished scenes from the original movie, plus some stuff I bet was in the script but was cut before filming. I really like the stuff with Luke on Tattooine early on.

I used to have the book adapting this. It was some great stuff.

We have finally got access to Disney+ here in Sweden.

And there is only the first two episodes of the Mandalorian available. I mean, it wasn't as they decided to add Sweden last week and hadn't had time yet to create subtitles (which a lot of us don't need anyway). So to sum up my opinion on that, as mildly as I can; they can go fuck themselves.

My brother sent me this knowing what my reaction would be...

Must ... resist ...

Lego was very much a formative part of my childhood - I grew up with Lego from about 3 years of age (this was before Duplo came out). At one point I gave my Lego to a friend's kid, who was maybe 6 or so at the time. Every now and then I consider whether I want to get back into Lego.

One year (maybe 1978) I entered a Lego competition at our local community fair with an X-wing and TIE fighter and came second. This was about 20 years before Lego started producing licensed Star Wars IP, and a few years before the first Space Lego sets were available in New Zealand.

I think that's the approach that a lot of streaming services are taking now, though. Many of them have less tolerance for the netflix way of doing things, dropping all episodes at once, and are starting to stagger releases.

I can accept that they do it with new seasons as they get released. But this is for an already existing season that's been out for months FFS. They haven't done it for say Agents of Shield (which I've been watching on another streaming provider, but dropped somewhere during season 5).

That's more likely because they know they don't really have anything else most of us are willing to pay for, so they're probably afraid we would just pay for one month, binge the season, then cancel the account.

From a marketing perspective, it is the better approach. It's much harder to maintain online buzz when you dump a show all at once. When you have weekly episodes, the buzz is spread over a few months. Plus, people can actually talk about each episode online, also getting into speculation about the next one. When you dump a show all at once, you have people who binged it all in one day and people who are watching one or two a night. Any online discussion is tricky. It's something I noticed over the last five years. Game of Thrones, with its weekly episodes, always got far more attention online than geeky Netflix shows like Stranger Things or the Marvel shows, simply because people were synchronized in watching them. Disney paid attention, and The Mandalorian ruled the Internet for a while.

Another benefit is that you squeeze more than a month out of people who subscribe just to watch one show and then cancel. I'm guessing that's why Lundgren is why they are doing it in Sweden too.

Well, in the case of Sweden, I think by the time all the episodes come out, you'll be in sync and if the release is world-wide, you end the first season and then next week join the rest of us in Enjoying season 2 all together.

That makes me think of this TV spot for Episode I. Always liked it for some reason:
Seeing the phrase 'TV Sp...' gave me horrifying flashbacks to the Star Wars Holiday Special, which TVNZ unironically subjected me to at the tender age of 8. I don't think I ever recovered fully from that.
Could be worse. Could be Song of the South, I suppose.

It didn't air in Austalia until December 1979, and I left the country earlier that year, so I never had to be subjected to it as a child.

I got two tickets for The Empire Strikes Back next Friday. I will be taking my daughter to see it; it’s her favorite Star Wars movie. I haven’t seen it since the 1997 release. I’m excited.

They just announced the 40th anniversary showings. I bought the tickets, $5 each, which is a bargain for a 7 PM show.

A very good deal. Last time I went to the theatre (I think for Into the Spiderverse) it was $18 each for me and my SO

It’s always the Special Edition.
Is that the 25th Anniversary Edition or yet another special edition?

So, I take it no old Anakin Jedi ghost... Well, apart from that, the special edition of Empire didn't bother me that much; the added wampa scenes were actually fun.
