Rare for a non-D&D game to get mainstream press attention
I'm honestly happy he is writing again. I did take a look on the Blue Hall of Illumination and was surprised to see him on the podcast and behind the Excellent Travelling Volume zine, and always wondered why he wasn't putting up articles on grognardia anymore. And was just surprised as everyone else when my blog feed showed a new article.Mork Borg even got JMal to revive Grognardia after how long (?) of a break to post a review. I wonder if this means he'll return to semi-regular posting again.
REVIEW: Mörk Borg
What did I just read? That was my immediate thought after attempting – and failing – to read Free League ’s apocalyptic fantasy roleplaying ...grognardia.blogspot.com
James went on an eight year hiatus. Too bad he doesn't allow new comments. I don't think there would be many people slagging him.
All of them. That's pretty exciting. The real question though is how many effing fonts do I need to match the look of the rule book...
If you want your game to look like a death metal 'zine, I suppose, although I get the impression that was sort of the idea with Mörk Borg.I'm going to start messing about with some layouts tonight I think.
I bought the game as much for the art and design as i did for the rules. If you want your game to look like a death metal 'zine, I suppose, although I get the impression that was sort of the idea with Mörk Borg.
Yeah just waiting for it to show up on Amazon.ca again so I can get it without paying crazy extra for shipping. I showed it to my wife who isn't really a gamer, and she was impressed by the style.Don't think, just buy the hard copy. I buy vanishingly few books in hard copy, but I've never had any reason to regret shelling out for MB. Just do it!

For what it's worth, I don't really care too much about the system itself (I've got so many OSR-inspired games, like Black Hack, White Hack, Into the Odd etc...) but because it is so EASY to use with those other systems, it is on my radar.
Well, there’s a location that strongly reminds me of a themed Candlemass album called King of the Grey Islands...I was into doom metal back in the day: does anyone know how the game connects to doom metal (is it in the aesthetics or is there some other tie in to it?)
Ha! Ordered it on Amazon.ca. Will be back in stock Nov 2. 45$ CAD (free shipping) isn't too bad, actually.
Has anyone here played, and have a review of it?
I personally don't have any OSR in my RPG collection but something about this calls to me, even though I'm not a metal fan.
The Armor rules are interesting. They subtract from damage (roll an armor die). I would like to see how this sort of thing could be applied to other OSR games, honestly.
That's true too: the heavier your armor is, the easier others hit you.I prefer systems (like Mork Borg, and Symbaroum) where armor makes you easier to hit but harder to hurt.
