Did I mention Mythras?!?
Mythic Britain!!!

I actually haven't played Mythras yet though I likely will this year. I play Magic World, Stormbringer and I am currently leaning Aquelarre. I also have Dark Streets but have yet to look at it.

Oooh I forgot... I also play Call of Cthulhu.

Not actively playing anything these days, but I was in an RQ campaign back in the 90s. Right now if I were to run a BRP-like it would probably be Elric!/Magic World or Pendragon/Paladin, for simplicity in prep and play. RQ II/III are also attractive due to the classic prewritten material.

BRP, RQ3, MRQ2/RQ6/Mythras, CoC, Delta Green, Clockwork & Chivalry, Dark Streets, Renaissance, Deus Vult, Stormbringer/Elric, Dragon Lines, Celestial Empire, Revolution, Aquelarre - tons of supplements for all of the above.

It's all fodder for my personal Mythras Monstrosity.

I made a setting for Big Gold Book a few years ago. This was RIGHT before Legend came out, so I missed out on using that OGL.
The BGB is super useful! What settings have you developed. I have a low magic fantasy setting and a blade runner type setting built out.

That is a little unusual but definitely counts!
Yea, according to Rick Meints I may be the only one running a regular RQ1 campaign, though among all the boards, I have seen one or two others who express some level of preference for the original.

Yep.

Call of Cthulhu 5e/6e. Delta Green: the Rpg, MRQII/Legend. I've run them quite a bit of the past 10 years.
Going back 20 years, I've run some campaigns with the Big Gold Book, RuneQuest 3E, and with Elric!

I own plenty more BRP variants, but haven't gotten use out of them at the table.

BRP is my main go to. The last game I ran was a LotFP thing... TYW historical with added weirdness.
I'm currently playing in a Magic World campaign. Good group, good GM... except for this one guy.
You have to watch Texans! They are all troublemakers!

15 years ago I played in an excellent CoC campaign called "Beyond the Mountains of Madness". Great times.

37 years ago I was an happy Stormbringer (Chaos ?) Master. And a damn good one too, according to my players.

So it's been 15 years that I haven't touched a BRP game, but I've got the feeling that BRP is like bicycles : once you've learned to ride one, you never forget how to do it. I think the staying power of the 1d100 roll is the mystical strength behind the BRP paradigm :-).

Intrigued by the Mythras talk in this very forum, I'm currently rigging a pre-Elric times adventure that I will master with this scion of BRP.

Life is a wheel of fortune : good or ill, roll the dice, and let's (n)ever fudge !

Me, late to the party as usual, but I've played CoC (of course), BRP (BGB) for a space campaign), RQ1 and 2 as well as RQG, MGP RQI and II plus Legend, Mythras (am about to start a Mythic Constantinople campaign on-line).

I own a lot of the books tbh, but have not run a pure game in years. As a whole my games are online so not everyone has all the books, so my games tend to fall into free form nowadays as a result.

Plus crunchy games online tend to not run too well.....people have things on, lose interest etc. So keeping it rules light tends to help.

Currently running Delta Green and playing in CoC. If I were trying out a new setting and didn't have a system which was better geared for the setting features, genre tropes, or narrative structures I wanted to go with, I'd probably use some flavour of BRP on it.

I ran a lot of CoC back in the day, and some Elric/Stormbringer (and a little of the old Worlds of Wonder mini-games). Currently, I own Dark Streets 1st edition, Renaissance (the generic version of), OpenQuest 2nd and Delta Green. I sadly haven't run any of them, but I have played DG back in 2019. I think I also own a pocket edition of Mongoose's 1st edition, and maybe a hardcover of Legend

BRP has been my main game since my teens in the 1980s.
I certainly play lots of other systems, but BRP remains one of my favourites.

As a teen I played the crap out of RQ2 and RQ3, then SB a bit later on.
I think the most useful book I have is the BGB, and I have played this version the most - mainly using many of the options consistent with RQ3 - with a few of my own here and there. I also love some of the BGB supplements such as Mythic Iceland, and the Alephtar books for Psuedo-Fantasy Earth (Stupor Mundi, Crusaders of the Amber Coast, Merrie England, ROME).
Also played heaps of CoC 3E to 6E, and now CoC 7E.
I have MW - it was good to see the SB rules out there again, but MW was very unde-rated, I think it needed much better marketing
I have the most recent DG, I haven't played it but it looks great
I have RD100, it looks really great, but I find it a hard read at times - otherwise it may have superceded the BGB for me, but I just struggle with it at times.

I have RQ2 and RQ3, and of course the new RQG - I have a love/hate with this one - RQG is certainly is the most realised version of Glorantha I have seen, and I love the lifepath char gen as well. However I really wish it had moved on a bit further, much of the RQ2/3 mainframe remains intact for RQG, and it sometimes feels a bit clunky by today's standards.

I have some Pendragon 4E books, plus recently bought the latest edition of Pendragon, and also Paladin. It doesn't use D100% as the core mechanic, but it's kinda BRP in lots of other ways, so I include it here. Never had a group wanting to play it, but I really want to.

I quite like Mythras, it feels like a more realised RQ3, and I think RQG may have done better using it.
Love some of the Mythras products as well, especially their Mythic Earth series - Mythis Britain, Mythis Rome, Mythic Constanople, - I'm eagerly awaiting Mythic Greece. Also love Book of Quests, Monster Island, Thenela, and one day will get Lyonesse as well. I also have some MRQ2 stuff that is 95% compatible with Mythras, such as earlier Thenela stuff, Spider-God's Bride (very Hyborian Age), Lhankmar, Elric of Melinbone, etc
Mythras may potentially superceed the BGB for me in regards to utility, although I think my current players will find it easier running stuff that I hobble together from the BGB. But I do like Mythras, as I think it's a great version of BRP that is looking forward, not backward.

I'm one of the few that liked the repackaging of MRQ2 into LEGEND. The text in the books was pretty much the same, but the core range of books were published in handy little digest-format, which was great at the gaming table, and also made it feel like a lighter system.
In some ways I may prefer it to Mythras, as LEGEND feels a tad simplier and easier to plug in to your own settings.
Mythras superceeded LEGEND, but in some ways I wished Mythras Imperative had been marketed like LEGEND in digest books, with a lighter vibe to them.
I still think that the best version of D&D is the LEGEND core book

I also quite like OQ - it's very simple and quick. Lots of utility, and very under-rated. Just hums along nicely without much bloat.
I also have the Renaissance version of it, it's perfect for Black Powder era, and River of Heaven makes for a nice sci-fi game.
I would of loved if Chaosium had used something like OQ for RQG - just add Runes, Passions, and a simplier version of Hit Locations, and that would of been my sweet spot for RQG.

I have mixed views over some of the rules amendments for CoC 7E, but I really love the production values of the new books.
Same goes for RQG, these books are beautiful

BRP is in my blood, and I find that it is one of the most logical systems to run and play.
It's a broad family of games, and I'm a big fan of pretty much all of them!

I've been playing various D100 games since the days of RQ II--I now wish I'd held on to my hardcover of that book. I did a fair amount with the Avalon Hill RQ III, more in Mythic Earth and other settings (Middle Earth, Tekumel) than in Glorantha, with which I have a like/dislike relationship. I also played and ran some Call of Cthulhu back in the day (mainly 2nd-3rd editions) though I haven't really kept up with it since. I even played around with Ringworld for a time.

I followed Runequest's revival under Mongoose and purchased a fair amount of that line, particularly when they lost the license and were selling .PDFs for a dollar. I also picked up the BGB, though so far I think I have used it more as a source of alternate rules to drop into other games. I like Clockwork & Chivalry and the various historical/mythic supplements for RQ and Mythras. I'm impressed by the Mythras ruleset, but the combat is often a bit more complex and detailed than I'm looking for. Of course, you can always strip elements out, or use Mythras Imperative or Runequest 6 Essentials. I purchased Aquelarre and Lyonesse last summer, but because of the pandemic I've not had a chance to do more than read them.

I've been resisting picking up the new Chaosium RQ, because I'm not all that keen on Glorantha. Also, a couple of years back I finally sold off all of my RQ III Glorantha material, and so I'd feel foolish for following that siren call again. But I will likely succumb someday.

Running a Laundry campaign, so BRP based, slowly modified to look more like Openquest with Delta Green's options sprinkled out (mainly rules concerning combat and automatic weapons). Zero interest in Mythras which is way too fiddly for my taste (do I need to state that it's not a complaint but simply a matter of taste? Well i'ts the internet so I guess I'd better do it and Mythic Britain is an awesome book). I may look at Revolution d100, I hear good things about it. Renaissance was a good read. Even if it isn't a BRP game I have a lot of love for Gangbusters (and Star Frontiers).

About to run a Pulp Cthulhu campaign (A cold fire within), I wondered about using another system but... I'm lazy and my Laundry campaign showed me how the BRP is simple to customize to suit your own campaign. One of my players' character became the Eater of Souls and another one a Deep One hybrid and all it took was one sentence on their character sheet to make it happen, no questions about balance, XPs or the like.

I often found the BRP to be too bland and was snobbish about it but whenever I run it, it just, well, runs in the background, bending to my will and not the other way around and always leads to great adventures/campaigns. The fact that it's still around 40+ years is a testament to the fact that it does something right.

For me, the BRP (and its extended family) is the AK-47 of rpg systems. It may not be sexy but it's versatile, reliable and efficient.

I reckon I've played more BRP than any other game system, though rarely straight from any published book. Mostly derived from RQ2, RQ3, Call of Cthulhu, and Worlds of Wonder.

Hmmm... I haven’t run any BRP for a while but thinking back I’ve run: Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest 3, Elric!/Stormbringer 5, a fantasy BGB BRP using the Magic and Psionic metaphysics systems, MRQ2 and a Mythras game. I have been pondering a Classic Fantasy Mythras Game, a straight Mythras game and a RQG game but keep being distracted by other things (I’ve just started running a new Forbidden Lands game).

No need for the statement, and we still think you're awesome!

(says the guy who wrote Mythic Britain).

(says the guy who wrote Mythic Britain).

Then you SIr, are awesome too and so are those who wrote Monster Island and Luther Arkwright.

And I must buy Lyonesse as well.

I’ve noticed we seem to have a lot of Mythras players and a reasonable sprinkling of other BRP variants too (Especially Call of Cthulhu). How many of you play a variant of BRP?
@RonnieStanford What counts as a variant of BRP and what is a different d100?
Is it still BRP variant if it has different attributes, for example?
