Like it says in the title, I was given an air fryer for Christmas. It came with a cookbook and I intend to check out some of those recipes, but I'm also curious, what have y'all made in air fryers? How? What was good?

So far the only thing I've cooked in it was some Italian sausage links with chopped onions. They came out nicely, and I was really happy with how easy it was to clean the thing.

I cut up wonton wrappers into chip sized pieces, brush with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic powder, and put in for a couple of minutes (watch them, it moves fast). When they look like they have bumps all over, mostly done. Pull out, let cool, wonton chips. Good with soy sauce.

Biscuits and rolls -- trust me on this.

Otherwise, French fries turn out well, and I use mine for heating up frozen vegetables a lot too.

Okay you guys are selling me on this air fryer thing, I found one at Costco and am gonna buy it.

Using mine right now for warming up taquitos we made last night. Want the tortilla crisp for this and the microwave doesn’t do that (though I am a proponent of microwave cookery. I make some good eggs in there)

so, for toast, they are slower than a toaster, but for small things they are faster than an oven, and do certain things better than a microwave. I believe it is partially due to less space to heat, though there is also the convection aspect.

small frozen pizzas take about 1/3 the time.

The Ninja Foodi 6 in 1? That is what I got, and it came from Costco. Their price was very good at the time. I've only had it about a month but I'm happy with it and you get a lot of functions in addition to the air fryer.

Yea that's the one; we saw it last week and thought it was too good to be true (multifunction items have a tendency to do many things mediocre or poorly instead of one thing really well) but I am now convinced it's a good buy

I've had a Ninja blender for several years and I've found the brand is good quality. That blender is crazy, I could probably make a granite smoothy.

I have the same, from Costco of course; a friend who is a professional chef recommended the brand. I love that place. My only problem is that almost every time I shop there I go way over budget.

I saw an ad on Yahoo that Ninja Foodi was having a sale on different pressure cookers/air fryers, so I bought one. $59.99 for one that normally costs 199.99 and free shipping. Granted, it takes 7 days to process the order, and 1-2 weeks for it to ship and arrive, but a lot cheaper than the ones I was eyeing on Amazon (and more versatile)

Wow that is a deal, probably the same one Costco had for $149.

I have a feeling there are some warehouses getting freed up for new products. I had my eye on a pair of Klipsch speakers for my shop and over the past month they have gone from $189 and not available until March, to $139 and then today dropped again to $119. I've seen some other things suddenly getting 25% or more price drops recently as well.

I was looking for it, and it wasn't actually from the Ninja site, but this one. I linked to the one I just bought. I wouldn't doubt it could be a clearance sale, overstock, or something like that.

My stepdaughter has one and swears by it. She makes a lit of health conscious food.

So it appears the site I ordered mine from might not be legit. After two weeks of no info on my fryer shipping. I went to paypal. There's shipping info available under the transaction, and the tracking info claims it was delivered today. Except it was in California, not Portland where I live. Needless to say I called PayPal and disputed the transaction. They told me to escalate the dispute if I don't hear anything in the next 4 days. They said it won't be a problem getting the refund, but it's annoying to say the least. Oh well, guess once I get the refund, I'll see what's on Amazon. Looks like the megacorp gets my money again

I gotta say, as mega Corp as Amazon is, there are advantages. Every single time I’ve used aliexpress I’ve had my credit card stolen. Every single time. Don’t use it, it never happens.

Tracking across the board regardless of shipper has been atrocious since Covid started. I've had numerous items show up where the tracking continued to the the shipper had not even received the item yet. Hopefully just crappy tracking.

I had an awkward situation with ebay. I had exactly that tracking showing the seller made a tag, but the shipper was still waiting for it. About 5 days after the expected delivery I contacted the seller, just to make sure things were normal. I had bought from them before so not too worried, just wanted to let them know. About a week later the item showed but but ebay had refunded my money without my even asking simply because I had asked the seller a question. Ended up working in the sellers favor, as I was able to PP them, so only ebay lost out on their fees.

I know people who love Banggood and Aliexpress for the prices, but there are also a lot of horror stories so I've never used them.

I can't remember the vendor but there is one I use that sells a lot of inexpensive import stuff, but they are not the cheapest out there. They have something on their website to the effect of "our prices are not the lowest, but we speak English and answer the telephone when you call." Clearly aimed at certain ebay sellers, Banggood and Aliexpress.

So far, the only issue I've had is stuff taking longer to arrive (like my Hostile books, and that's partly due to Snowpacalypse 2021). The thing is, the site claims you get an email when the item ships (with tracking info). I never got one. I checked my account, and my info is all correct. The shipping receipt only shows up in paypal, even though they are supposed to email it to you. The fact it was the wrong address in the wrong state just made me really suspicious. I also forgot to add that the fryer shipped from China, which makes me wonder if it's a knockoff and not a real Ninja. If I don't hear back from them by Monday, I'm going to escalate it as per PayPal's suggestion. I can just redirect that money towards buying one on Amazon.

The thick pork chops from my local grocer have been coming out really well in the air fryer.
I like the sound of that (even though I am partial to cast iron pan-searing). Time and temperature? Oil rub?

I find doing Sweet Potato/Yams in mine makes them come out really delicious. And the recipe I found online was easy. All you do is poke holes in the skin all over, air fry it on 375 for about 35 minutes, and voila! Works best with small to medium sized ones. I did a larger one, and it wasn't as soft (so you likely need to adjust the time).

My wife has asked for a really good air-fryer. What would y’all recommend!

Been happy with the Ninja we bought last year, my son actually cooks (if corndogs, fish sticks and such count as cooking) with it. Other than the air fryer his "cooking" is PB&J, cup of noodles / ramen or mac & cheese.

Ours can also be used as a pressure cooker or slow cooker.

I think it is this one, Costco had them at a good price last year, not sure if they still carry them.

Thanks. We are Costco members and she was specifically looking at this brand.

In general I'm not a huge fam of multi-function appliances but in this case these things do take up some space, so kind of nice to be able to use it for a variety of things. If my wife did not already have a crockpot and Magic pot when we bought this one, it would have saved some space in the kitchen.

There are some with more of a toaster oven layout so think about which style might work best for whatever you plan to do with it. I'm quite happy with the pot style, but can see where the front loading type might be handy.

Also I see some who claim these are just convection ovens. Technically that may be true, but they are different. We have a convection oven in our stove and the air fryer does have a different more fried effect on food, whether that is due to higher efficiency in the small pot, reaching high temps faster or something else I have no idea, but it is different.

Tried a "recipe" for air fried hot dogs. Literally takes about 6 minutes tops. I didn't get regular buns, but am using some Brioche ones

My ex wife uses hers for everything. It's like my Instantpot to my current wife. Magical gizmos that they each swear by.

I almost ordered one on Prime Days this week, but ended up passing. Hadn't seen this thread before, so...dang.

I was lazy yesterday and ordered out from some Middle Eastern place. Got some fries, so I had leftovers. Put half in the air fryer with some hot dogs. Fries came out crisper than when I got them yesterday. Very delicious!

I can only add the things my wife captured on Pinterest (Here for direct link)

She has a lot of other food items on that account. The Instapot replaced the airfryer, so that section has more.
