Those conversations always wig me the f out. You're sitting there, trying to nod along like you're interested, when all you're thinking is "Get the F to the number, already!"
LOL I have struggled all my life dealing with people who can't get to the point or handle straight talk. Many opportunities have been denied to me because of this. At this point in life I've accepted that cowardice and obfuscation is the norm for a great deal of humanity. As for me, I live by the Russian proverb, "Better to be slapped with the truth than kissed with a lie."

Today was my graduation ceremony/luncheon for my Culinary Program. I still technically have one last day of class and need to turn in a small assignment, but I de-facto now have a Associates degree in culinary arts. I'm kinda sad to be finished, as I will miss several of my instructors. But holy Karakorum am I glad to be done with homework, at least until September when I register for the Bakery certification program, which is shorter, but involves a lot of early mornings.
Monday I've got my final day of class, followed by a promising interview for a position at a local school district's prep kitchen.

Hey man, I know we don't know each other in RL but I have known you for a couple years on the Pub and have been rooting for you on every step of your journey. I am fucking stoked that you persevered through all the bullshit life threw at you and got your AA in the middle of a pandemic.

"So, hey, employees, remember how back it in September, it was super urgent and important that you move your stuff out of Basement Workroom # 1 to Basement Workroom # 2 because of the impending construction in Basement Workroom # 1? Yeah, never mind that it's been six months and none of that construction actually happened. It's now super urgent and important that you move your stuff from Basement Workroom # 2 back to Basement Workroom # 1."

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a fuckin' Dilbert comic.

I saw him this morning and he's talking. He's not making much sense, talking about seeing people time travelling and time travelling when you have seizures. But he'll respond to simple commands and, with some patience, I was able to get him to eat some breakfast.

How old is he David?

He's 23 going on 24 in May. He had his first seizure when he was 12. He's probably autistic. I've thought he had Aspergers but the various psychiatrists and psychologists he saw while in school thought the notion was laughable. The last two months I've had emergency doctors and psychiatrists saying "You know? He might be autistic!" As my younger son said, " ythink?"

The just called to say he's out of the intensive care unit and back in the recovery wing.

Autism really just isn't diagnosed as often as it should be. Like lots more people are on the autism spectrum that doctors just kind of ignore. My older brother has, I'm fairly certain, high functioning autism but never diagnosed. I would imagine my dad does too, but he's like 80 so definitely no one was identifying that back then.

I suspect moving the line exponentially increases the number of cases under the curve as it were. That's probably why they're so resistant to widening the definition.

Thank you for your kind comment.
It has been a turbulent few years for me. 3 years ago I was a college drop out cast adrift on a sea of uncertainty, not knowing where I was heading or what I was doing. I'll admit that I was in a dark place, nothing really mattered to me beyond eating sleeping and distracting myself from the perceived bleak reality I was living in. I finally started to leave that rock bottom when I realized that I needed to do something with my life. This was around the time that I started to rekindle my interests in TTRPG's. Because I was living in a rural area at the time with no real local friends to speak of, I turned to the internet to see if there were any forums where I could find like-minded individuals. 3 popped up at the top of the google result, the first one I looked into was RPGnet, and their rules section sent up a million red flags, so I passed them by. The next was theRPGSite, which I made an account for as they didn't seem like as crazy as RPGnet. They seemed to me however to have a lot of Internet drama and dragging political crap into discussions, stuff that was partially responsible for my failure at a bachelors degree.
Then I found the Pub, where people actually talk about RPG's, and not just D&D! Other stuff as well. To this day the pub is probably the website I spend the most time on.
Eventually I found myself in a confident enough place to get a job, working as a cook at a ski resort. The first month was very difficult, I had been in a near total isolation from other people for about a year. But, in part thanks to the Pub and a liberal dosage of Johnny Cash, I was able to power through the hardship and prove to myself that I could do something.
The Ski season ended and but my desire to take control of my life did not. I enrolled in the culinary arts program at a local community college and moved to the big city. Boy howdy was that a change! I remember reading about culture shock when I was attempting my bachelors in Anthropology, and never really understanding what that meant.
Being surrounded by so much noise and so many people quickly taught me the meaning. All while I was adjust, falling down and picking myself back up, I was regularly logging back into the Pub. I think the friendly atmosphere is what kept me around. It was around this time that a certain weirdo with a haircut was banned, somewhat amusingly I was learning about narcissists in a human relations class, and he gave me an excellent real life example of what they're like!
Since then I've had my fair share of ups, such as when I made a truly killer Yellow Bell Pepper Ketchup, and downs, I think the single handily worst was a week in February 2020, when not only did my dog pass away, and tensions were running high in my classes, but I also had a medical scare that resulted in a colonoscopy on Valentines Day (Single handily the worst valentines date I have ever had).
But, like all things the pain passed and with the turning of the seasons I grew, and still continue to grow as a person.
I'm glad that you guys were there along the journey, I learned a lot about RPG's and life from y'all.

I've had a colonoscopy, comedian Dave Barry had a good line about the Pico Salex prep. "Whatever that stuff is, we must not allow it to fall into the hands of our enemies!"
I think the worst part out of the whole thing for me was the week leading up to it. We were going through dry heat cooking in school that week, and I wasn't able to sample any of the food we made. The day before the procedure was called "Fry Day" becasue that's when we deep fried hand made onion rings and made tartar sauce. Being in the same room as frying food, while hungry and not being able to eat it is absolute torture.

I finally looked into paying someone to do our laundry and can't believe I've never done this before. I always imagined it would be wastefully expensive but it turned out to be surprisingly inexpensive; growing up in poverty can fill one's head with silly notions that are "penny-wise and pound-foolish". Anyway, I fucking HATE doing laundry and so does Bunny- it's a little embarrassing to admit that eliminating this tedious task from our life is a bump to our quality of life. Next step: find someone to deep clean the place once or twice a month.

We were actually talking about laundry service this morning. I don't mind it so much, but it is my wife's absolute most hated chore (which is why we've been together 12 years and still do our laundry separate). We have house cleaners come twice a month, but for some reason offloading my laundry feels like I'd be admitting some new level of laziness. No idea why I think that way.

I get you man but try to look at it as a time thing. I am fully capable of changing my own oil but it's more cost effective to pay someone else to do it.
My wife and I are both bad about laundry. Like the laundry gets done, but then it sits in baskets and takes 9 years for someone to fold it.
Our laundry sat in the bedroom for literally 2 months before Bunny folded and put it away this morning. I had to do something, we couldn't continue living like that.

See my problem is that where we fold clothes is on the gaming table, because our game room is right next to the laundry room. The number of times I've had to move all the laid out clothes to the coffee table in the living room so I could play a board game with my wife and/or the kids...

Like at some point when the world opens back up and I can do in person RPGs again I have to fix this problem.

My wife does the laundry. She seems to hate it but absolutely refuses to let me outsource it. Her claim is 90% of the work is sorting and putting it away(6 people's worth of clothes). I feel like that should be solvable but I cab only do so much.

We used to have house cleaners and gardenera pre Covid. I'm pushing to get the gardeners back because I hate gardening and she wants the housecleaner back because she doesn't like housecleaning. I do the bathrooms and kitchen and vacuum ao I'm not entirely sure why she wants to do the housecleaner first but whatever

I do my own laundry. She does hers. I only have a few changes of clothes, so it can't build up. I get that from my grandad, he had one plate, one cup, one saucer and a knife and fork etc. Never had any dishes build up. Now, if I was to launder my rpg collection, that would be a whole different story

My wife has always been very organized about laundry. I wasn't, when I lived alone as a bachelor, but she's slowly won me over in that regard. It helped that, for years, we lived in apartments and did not have our own machines. So we were using the complex's laundry room or going to laundromats. Doing the latter more-or-less forces you into planning your laundry and dealing with it methodically. That hung on, even though we've had our own house and machines for years now.

So every Sunday is laundry day and it runs pretty much like clockwork. Our main failing is clothes that need special treatment. Those can build up for weeks until we have enough pieces that demand the same settings on the machines, or are the same colors.

Now dusting, that's a whole other story...

I managed to navigate the gordian nightmare (knotmare?) of making appointments for the COVID vaccine. Woooo. Will get my first shot tomorrow and the second on April 13th.

Just got mine today, get the second one on April 5th. (three weeks). My wife gets her's later on today. Was surprised at how many folks in the Krogers weren't wearing masks and of course Krogers isn't enforcing it. The employees were which was nice.

my insurance agent took a personal facebook post looking for an electrician he could see from his account as indication that they should put my information into a local business networking group database upon which I promptly got a call about solar which I don't need (I have it already).

Coincidentally, I also started receiving spam calls at an unprecedented volume since I got the original call. I've not shown a linkage yet, but I'm so incensed that I'm having to walk it off

I just read on another thread that you're in the tri-cities area. heh. I used to live in Selah/Yakima. Move from there almost seven years ago. I still get spam calls from the area. lol

Well you were in the area when I was. My folks still live up there and my cousin as well. None of us are natives. I’ve been out here for 20 years

Not a native myself. Lived there from 2002 through 2014. Fond of the Cascades and Pacific Northwest in general. Miss it now that I'm down in TN.

Wrapping up at work in the next two weeks and then starting my new job.

At today's team meeting we had some time aside to talk about work culture and I spoke my mind haha.

At the end of the day one of my coworkers came and said they appreciated me talking honestly on my way out since so many others can't/won't.

Ah, wonderful. Even with some recent rains, the pollen is really starting to kick in locally.

That yellow on the pavement? That's washed-up tree pollen (or as a friend once referred to it, 'tree bukkake').
