Hopefully Bishop rings for directions sooner rather than later...

Smith Smith
Bishop sighs and waits ten minutes before he calls, making sure anyone would be bored with him washing up by now. He buzzes "Hi, do I need to make any more doctor visits today, if I do just give me where." explicitly coding his speech to his perceived role, for anyone trying to overhear.

Once in the alley I duck behind a dumpster and grab the top of a garbage can to whack my pursuer if they follow me out back.

Your PRETERNATURAL ability gives you the ability to leap down from the roof.

Make a RISKY SCRAMBLE roll with STANDARD effect for the leap.

In addition, make a RISKY SKULK roll with STANDARD effect to see how quiet you were. As an alternative, you can take a DEVIL's BARGAIN, forgoing stealth, to add 1D to the SCRAMBLE roll. Alternatively, you have a gambit in hand, or could take a push.
OOC:
6 for the Scramble roll and 6 for the SKULK roll! Didn't take the Devil's Bargin.

Yoster gives him the location. "Hope the lying your face off bit went well for you bud, you need practice with that end of the job anyway." he adds with a laugh. "Come do your bones thing, I'll get some grub and a drink ready for you."

"Good, I could use both. Very much so. I'll head out soon, just give me a place and time." He says with a gentle sigh. "I do my best with that stuff, but it's not first in my list of useful skills."

This manages to distract your follower briefly, allowing ...

OOC:
6 for the Scramble roll and 6 for the SKULK roll! Didn't take the Devil's Bargin.

6, 6 = Success, Success +1 gambit.
With a perfect three-point landing you drop behind the goon as he's temporarily distracted looking for where Lola disappeared to.

You've got the drop on him. You can make an attack as CONTROLLED or DESPERATE with increased effect.

Fortune roll: (3,2) Not so good.

Gideon's condition is deteriorating. Between you, you can summon one die for teamwork in an attempt to stabilise him before Bishop arrives.

Teamwork it is. Yoster swears under his breath and cuts the red wire, or whatever the surgical equivalent is.

You get a die to roll. You could take a push (short rest rules pending) if you want an extra die.

Stress is a problem right now. Is there a devil's bargain here?

You passed a medical centre on the way here, maybe 15 minutes drive back. You could take him there at the cost of bringing some extra HEAT. You're out in the countryside here and a large chunk of Kelley Forest is a reserve. Maybe you could spin a cock-and-bull story about a shooting accident or some such.

Let's do that, Yoster doesn't have any faith in his medical acumen. Unless someone has a better idea?

Fenris-77 Fenris-77 , Smith Smith -

You load Gideon back into the van and drive him to the medical centre - it's a small practice on the outskirts of a town a little off the main road.

There's an unpaved ground car park in front of the building and a flitter pad next to the car park. The building itself looks like it's of concrete tilt-slab construction and looks like it's about 30 or 40 years old - not run down by any means but it could have been better maintained. Fairly typical of buildings outside the major towns here. Although the Kelley Forest area is quite gentrified these days - especially since the maglev went in about 40 years ago - there's still a major income disparity and a lot of relatively poor farmers and other folks in the region.

The sign out the front says Alexis medical centre. There is also a pharmacy next to it in the complex.

What's your plan?

Silverlion Silverlion - You're currently en-route to the safe house.

I'll head into the clinic, leaving the others in the car. When I get in I'll start in with a professional but slightly panicked monologue. "Hello? Hey, we have an emergency here! We have a man with a gunshot wound that needs immediate attention. Do you have a gurney? He's out in the car and he's bleeding pretty bad. We tried to patch him up but it hasn't helped. We were out on a company retreat and ... jesus this is bad ... he went out without a vest and ... shit, just get a gurney would you? He's bleeding out..." As the staff move into action I'll keep up a steady stream of bullshit to keep them from thinking to hard about the circumstances. (roll sway perhaps...)

Make a SWAY roll. This is a DESPERATE roll with STANDARD effect. Add a die for the Devil's Bargain.

Smith Smith -

Silverlion Silverlion - you're still en route.

I'll add stress to add to the roll.
You can assist for an extra die without adding stress.

OOC: I'll go with CONTROLLED. Roll was 3

You've not quite landed where you wanted - the follower has heard you but is slow to react. You can make another attempt to attack as RISKY.

Voros Voros ^^^^

Séadna Séadna -

Voros Voros has added another die from assisting (total 2). You can re-roll. You could take 2 stress and add a die, or use a gambit, of which it looks like you have one in reserve. The roll is now RISKY with STANDARD effect.

Sorry, fucked up the die roller. It was 6,3,1
Smith Smith -

6 = Success - the whole place swings into action without thinking to question anythingg.

The nurse at the reception pages a doctor on the P.A. with the emergency, and somebody appears less than a minute later, rushing out to the van with you. Another couple of people arrive shortly after that. They rush Gideon into the clinic on a gurney.

The clinic doesn't have an A&E - it's not a hospital so much as a small medical practice. However, the doctors seem to be doing a competent job of stabilising Gideon and they set up an automed. They start work on stabilising Gideon and one of the doctors observes that the first-aid work seems very competently done but doesn't otherwise seem to think anything is out of place. After about 15 minutes or so they say he looks stable but needs to be transferred to a hospital.

They're pretty distracted, but the nurse comes up and asks you to fill out an incident form. You note that they haven't looked for Gideon's wallet or any other identification documents.

Took the gambit. Result was a 6.

6 = success.

Lola rushes the assailant, who is distracted long enough for Espa to get the drop on him. This allows you to immobilise or incapacitate the assailant.

Espa will have the assailant pinned to the ground by the neck after tying up their hands and legs.

"Take it easy and answer my friend here's questions and there'll be no issues"

OOC: What do they look like now that Espa is up close?

The assailant has the look you've come to recognise in the Komagane thugs. Sharp suit, some tattoos evident and a sort of swagger in his mannerisms. He keeps up his machismo when he replies "Whaddya think? The Oyabun wants to know who he's doing business with." He has a pretty thick Cimmerian accent and it comes out like 'Oibin'. He pretty clearly seems to think you wouldn't dare hurt him.

OOC: He's right - you might get away with tying him up and losing him but if you did anything more than that you'd be risking an escalating conflict.

I'll fill out the forms with fake names all round and pocket Gideon's wallet when I get a chance. I'll tell the staff we can handle the transfer ourselves (for insurance reasons of course) and that our in-house doctor should be here any minute. I'll get them make out a bill to B&C Capital Management Inc. and I'll assure them that our people will be in touch by the end of the day to arrange payment. I'll ring Bishop when I need a convincing break in the flow of bullshit "Let me just ring our Doc and see how far out he is..."

"Where the heck did they take him, he still needs a doctor...' says to himself with exasperation as he looks around the place. "Yeah?" he says as he gets a call.

"Doctor, good to finally reach you. I'm here with the clinic staff. They've managed to get ... Mr. Dermott .. stabilized but he will still need a hospital. Can you come to us or should we come pick you up on the way?" asks Yoster.

Fenris-77 Fenris-77 - You fill out the form in a barely decipherable scrawl and manage to nab Gideon's wallet (this could have also been a zero-cost flashback on the way to the clinic). The call to Bishop informs him of the situation, and you manage to tie up the reception staff for another few minutes.

Gideon is set up in an automed now, although nicking a hospital-grade automed is getting into grand theft territory and would almost certainly attract attention if you tried to wheel it out through reception. It's just set up in a clinic room - the centre doesn't have a proper A&E or inpatient facilities but does have a small outpatient clinic.

While you're filling out the forms, one of the doctors comes up and tells you that Gideon will probably be OK but needs to be transferred to a hospital ward for recovery, and that you'll need to arrange that transfer in the next few hours.. He excuses himself as he has other patients that need attending to.

Silverlion Silverlion, you open the taps on the bike to get to the clinic. If you want to get there faster you can take a push for two stress and/or a devil's bargain for a 2 CRED speeding fine, additional HEAT or having to ditch the bike at a convenient point, losing it. Note that you have no HELM skill so you'll need one or both to avoid an unskilled roll (2D6, taking the lowest die),

I'll put this off on our own Doc (quietly, during the phone call). "Bishop, he's hooked up to an automed. Can we disconnect him to move him or are we going to have to steal the fucking thing?"

Silverlion Silverlion

'Any plans to doublecross us?' I ask.

"Above my pay grade but Mr. Nazarovo is a business man. All he said was find out who these people are and where they're based out of. If I was you I'd just meet with him. We're all business men here."

Silverlion Silverlion -

OOC: He's in bad enough condition that he'll need an automed or constant intensive care monitoring for at least another few days. It might be possible to pull a few strings and source a portable automed or at least vital signs monitoring kit but it's going to take at least a few hours to rustle that up.

Can we make with the rustling to have that set up somewhere in the city and move him there? I don't want to kill the guy, but the exposure here is making me itchy.

Silverlion Silverlion - OOC - you can maybe pull some strings and get hold of an automed. It might take a little while to get it but there are folks who can get that sort of kit on a no-questions-asked basis.

If you want to speed matters up you can hint that it's urgent and take a devil's bargain, starting to tick a clock as someone starts to learn some interesting details about, or that you owe a favour to someone you might not want to be beholden to.

"Alright. Sensible enough from your end, but understandably we get a bit uneasy when somebody tails us"

She looks toward Lola.

"I think we should let him up" she says while still keeping a hold on him and awaiting Lola's confirmation.

I nod. 'Let you're boss know we're not to be messed with, strictly business.'
