The packaged Combat Styles definitely showed up in the MRQ2 Compendium. I don't know if they made it in to Legend.

And yet... MRQII/Legend is where we first introduced Combat Styles... ;)
yeah my memory is getting fuzzy here, as I think I was running alot of BGB around the same time as running MRQ2,
I do remember duo-packages like Sword & Shield, Mace & Shield, but then I remember stuff like Swordfighting covering all swords, or Archery covering all bows...in hindsight it may have been just how we were running it...maybe the BGB is getting morphed with MRQ2 in my memory, we probably played some type of Frankenstein version of both games...now I'm suspecting it's probably something like this...

My mistake Loz!

Congratulations! Can you tell us anything about it? Lots of Mythras fans here!
It's called Rooms with a View, and it's a collection of 12 locations that you can drop into existing campaigns. I was a big fan of the Mythic Places and More Mythic Places books for Ars Magica back in the day, and I wanted to do the same sort of thing with different kinds of locations. These are not designed as combat encounters (though combat could certainly result from the actions of the players), but instead as interesting places where the characters can interact with NPCs and hopefully find interesting things to do related to them. Ideally useful in a sandbox game where the campaign is driven by the characters and their interests.

Since it's more about the locations than the mechanics, I'm putting this out both for Mythras/Classic Fantasy and for D&D 5E.

Also, I published an adventure for Mythras/Classic Fantasy called Betrayal at Shadewood Keep, and the print version was only available through Amazon. I'm also launching the POD on DriveThru at the same time to make it easier for people to get the print & PDF together. So I'm waiting on the print proofs for all three books.

Here's the cover:

Oh go on then (even though I'm a bit focused on OQ at the moment).

At the moment it's, a very streamlined D100 Fantasy system that I wrote last year, bundled together as Zero Edition and released via Kickstarters 2020's ZineQuest.

You can grab it here in pdf:

It's currently in development, with a much fuller game coming out later this year or early next year.

Here's the cover by Peter Frain:

Further on there's the Sci-fi game Blasters and Lazers, which uses the same base D100 system, funded by this year's ZineQuest, coming out in Zero Edition later this year.

Newt Newport Newt Newport been reading the QS this morning. That's a very smart iteration of the core system. I like the mix of older and newer rules elements.

You say the full rulebook is out this year?

Yes it's very imminent. The pre-order is about to go live, either next week or the week after, and then it should be on general release sometime in May.

Hannu has collected and shared well over 300 combat styles for Mythras:

The Hyborean styles are drawn from Ranger Dan's examples, he also came up with a "Combat Style Creator" for those wanting more customisation during a campaign:

While this all looks genuinely well and good, I also noted Skyraiders of the Floating Realms. You should toot a bit about that.
Oh, something added to my want list. I'd have snagged it as soon as I read it but I already reached my $500.00 gaming limit for the month this month. (mutter)

Perfect for my needs, greatly appreciated !!!

Hey does anyone have some form-fillable Mythras character sheets that are NOT yet available on TDM website?

In particular I am after the character sheet from the Character Creation Workbook, it just seems slightly less cluttered than the previous version.
I also love the character sheet from the most recent version of Mythras Imperative - it's far less cluttered, and suits pretty much how I like character sheets these days - it'll be my Mythras character sheet of preference.

Would really appreciate if anyone has form-fillable versions of these character sheets to either post here or to PM me

When I finally started diving into Mythras about a year ago, I messed about with a form-fillable Mythras sheet, but I got sidetracked by life (it's similar to the form-fillable Magic World sheet with all of the javascript calculations I created and uploaded to BRP Central and here in the content section). I probably should get around to finishing that up . . . Anyway, I'll try to remember to PM you when I finally get it done. Go ahead and pester me from time to time to stop being a lazy bum and that might jar me out of my torpor.

this sheet I and a few other folks collaborated on is the best i have. there is a form fillable one out there, but there are errors in the autocalculation, and it's for RQ6

I never found a form-fillable sheet I found particular satisfactory. If I had software that could do them I'd have probably done my own.

Do you change daily?

Sometimes. Mainly because I couldn't work out how to edit the first post and people asked about other games.

Which edition of Call of Cthulhu are you referring to?

No idea. I know I bought first edition when it came out, but haven't bought any other edition, so probably first edition.

What about Elric of Melniboné? Where is Elfworld?
I have never bought, seen or played Elf World. Elric is just another version of Stormbringer, isn't it? Mongoose brought out a version of Elric that I found completely unreadable.
soltakss soltakss , I loved your work explaining how Heroquests work.
Thanks!

Yes, and they were an excellent addition to the D100 complex.

By the way, Loz, don't get me wrong, I think that Mythras is a really good game, full of excellent stuff. I just, personally, prefer Legend, for various reasons.

In my opinion, people should buy both sets of rules, plus Revolution, to compare and contrast, taking the best bits from all of them. That's what I have done, in PDF at least.

I really love how the skills are done in RD100, very clean and simple

This is probably not as simple as you want, but here is a Mythras character sheet that I created in the form fillable PDF version.

Do tell...?
I dont have the book here to check, so I'll go from my patchy memory.

I may have the game terminology wrong, but I do remember the general gist of it:

The skill list is small, and conceptually is closer to broad RQ Skill Categories ( with % chances calulated by Characteristic + Characteristic).

You can specify a few skill specialties, and receive a moderate or major bonus to the prexisting skill chances

Nice and clean, not fiddily

It means the character sheet isn't cluttered with a long list of skills, yet no capabilities are lost.
You can easily see at a glance which skills a character is prominent in.

It's my favourite thing about RD100

It’s the best thing about RD100. Others would do well to emulate it.

I don't think that RD100 is OGL, though, so emulating it might be problematic.
A close version is seen in Millennium's End IIRC, and Art of Wuxia.
In the former, you have a skill which is closer to "skill categories", and then you have a specialty within the skill which is added to it.
In AoW, you have a total of 10 skills, with a base determined by half your attribute. After that you add 10% per skill level (skills are 1-6). Also very simple and yet allows for as much differentiation as is desired.
I was considering adding a specialisation on the skills at a lower price, but decided against it.

there used to ne a rev d100 srd, but the links i've found are dead.

revd100 has a skill list very close to Mythras standard skills. a pretty short list of agility, close combat, communication concentration craft, drive, knowledge, operate, perception, perform, pilot, ranged combat, ride, stealth, and survival. it adds in traits, which function like specialties. So you might have Perception (Hearing) or Agility (jump). You can have multiple of then on a skill. It also includes a table for difficulty modifiers that takes into account traits - so if you have multiple traits that could apply, you can get automatic success if it is an easy roll.

the structure of the traits informed a lot of how i think about Mythras skills. Traits can be quite flexible, incorporating things like followers, cybernetics, or a loyal animal companion. it's pretty ingenious

It's actually OGL, here is a link to the SRD

Correction accepted:grin:! I'll admit that being a KS backer/early adopter* I've never needed to use the SRD! Hence me not even rememberingit exists.

*Laugh if you must but I'm not sure which one I ended up being:shade:! Though I think a backer?

I like that - a lot!

There is a lot to like about RD100, the way how it handles magic systems is superb, I just wish the game would get a revised edition checked by an English-speaking editor .
I mean, there is an srd. Seems like fans could get on that!

See the attached Revolution D100 character sheet for perusal
Anyone who knows BRP games will see what I'm talking about regarding the Skills

15 broad skills, with spaces below for specialities ('traits'). I cannot remember how many specialities you have, but it's not too many, so you can easily see what your prominent skill specialities are. From memory you can have more than one speciality for each skill if you want.

The specialities give a flat % bonus to the standard Skill chance, kinda like a Profficiency Bonus in D&D 5E.
also

There are a range of standardardised default names for specialities ('traits') in the book. However you could come up with your own to help portray your setting, or you could even use more pulpy-style names that feel more like Feats rather than standard skills, it will still work.

For example, you have the Skill Close Combat, which covers any situation involving hand-to-hand melee combat.
You might feel that your character is a bit of a skilled swordsman, and want to portray this on the character sheet.
Regarding game mechanics, you want a numerical % bonus to your Close Combat rolls when using swords.
Pretty typical thing to do with a character.

So in the blank box associated with your Close Combat skill, you decide to add a speciality/trait called 'Sword', which is one of the defaults from the core book - it's called Weapon [Type], so 'Sword' it is in this case.
You might be fine with 'Sword', but you also might want something that feels less bland, so you could perhaps rename that specialty/trait something like 'Swordmanship'. You could go further with this, perhaps renaming it something like 'Florentine Blade Fighter', or even "Mark of the Scarlet Blade", depending on how you want to play the game.

It's quite a good way to portray abilities with alot of flavour. Additionally, the character sheet doesn't feel bloated with skills, as you only have a few skill traits to highlight your specialities or more prominent abilities.

Although my go-to generic BRP systems are Mythras and OpenQuest, and unlikely to change for a long while, I also quite like the approach to Skills presented here in Revolution D100.

An "International Edition" to clean up the text and make things more accessible in general is in the works, but has apparently been slowed a bit by the writer/publisher being busy with the Mazinger Z RPG. Now that that's launched, maybe there will be movement on RD100.

Has anyone heard any new information on the "Rivers of London" rpg work? I know we first heard confirmation last August I think it was. Since then I've not noted any new information, though eight or so months later might be too early in the process to expect any news updates. One can be hopeful.
