My employer issued new COVID guidelines yesterday. Fully-vaccinated people (including me) no longer have to wear masks at work. I’m happy about that, though since it’s getting warmer here the problem with fogging glasses had largely stopped anyway.

Now that you don't have a mask will you be able to hide that you're a giant robot head from Pluto?

I've been suggesting at my work that would be a good way to stimulate people to get vaccinated, but they won't have any of it yet: still masks for everybody.

Long story short, I made a large purchase as a birthday gift to myself, only for the items not to be shipped, along with contradictory e-mails on whether or not they were even packed up. After two weeks of no responses to my request for a tracking number, I started a chargeback. Amazingly, the items were shipped the same morning I put that in, and theyarrived two days later..

In the time between me initiating the chargeback, me getting the items, and my removing the chargeback the seller found the time to send me many, many e-mails, to the point I haven’t finished reading them all yet.

From what I have read, I’m again amazed that people feel you should be good with receiving terrible customer service, but once you work to get your money back suddenly they are the victim and the customer is a terrible person for wanting what they paid for.

8 mile run today. Felt great and maintained a very even pace throughout - 13 second difference between my fastest and slowest mile.
I've had some knee problems in the past so I'm spending extra time doing some stretching with resistance bands and that seems to be helping a lot. I'm very fortunate that my work provides physical therapists to help with training and rehab plans.

Got my vaccination dates set:

22-6 15:55 first shot
27-7 18:40 second shot

I'm getting Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna.
With that length of time I would guess Moderna. If given the option Pfizer has a week less of a pause period between doses.

No idea. There have been tests with longer pauses between shots.

hmm my wife and I when we got the Pfizer shots had basically a two week window between the first shot and the second.

Edit: Yep, I checked our cards. Pfizer 03/15/21 for the first shot and 04/05/21 for the second one.

So, the good news is the raccoons are OK. They finally showed up again last night. The bigger female seems just fine, fit and healthy. The male isn't imping anymore.

I'm with you here. At this point if Mrs. Bunch passed away and I felt the need for female companionship I'd stay in GenX. She's seven years younger and that already has some background gaps that annoy me (why the hell can't the kids walk to school? I walked down a 45mph main arterial to kindergarten). Trying to deal with someone younger than that would be more trouble than it's worth.
Heh, I have a 17 year difference... The rough part for me is I'll be hitting 70 around the time my youngest graduates from high school... But yea, the references she misses...

And we just got our 2nd dose of Pfizer today.

School is almost done, and we're glad. We've had a bad experience with this school, off to a new one next year for the girls, switching from private ($$$) to public charter (no $), now at least if we don't have such a great experience with the school, we won't be paying through the nose for it and will have some money to spend on tutors or whatever to supplement...

Just got back from the beach a few days ago, got two more trips scheduled for the summer (the no $ for school really helps the travel budget).

Yep, that’s dead on 3 weeks. That’s what it is supposed to be. 6-22 to 7-27 is more like 4+

My family-in-law all seem to have managed to get at least their first vaccine shot. They're in Mexico, so that is really good news.

My mother-in-law got Pfizer. My oldest sister-in-law got AstraZeneca. My younger sister-in-law got some Chinese vaccine. Now I can finally say I know someone who got a Chinese vaccine :goof:.

I don't know which vaccine my father-in-law got. He is in Costa Rica and, from what I hear, basically went begging for a shot repeatedly until they gave him one. :quiet:

I am aware but there's nothing I can do about it. Most people getting vaccinated here at the moment are getting Pfizer, so I expect it will be Pfizer for me as well. As per the invitation I got it might also be Moderna. We don't get to choose, though people who declined AstraZeneca or Janssen in the past can now apply for a mRNA vaccine, either Pfizer or Moderna.

Does anyone know which Chinese vaccines are used in Mexico?

Today was warm enough that I set up a fan in the living room. I also cleaned it for what appears to be the first time since I got it at least 10 years ago. There was quite a lot of dust and gunge on it.

I’ve been having some difficulties with my desktop at work. The I.T. Department sent someone over a while back to look at it and decided they would need to take it back to the shop for some work. They picked it up last Tuesday and I’ve not got it back or heard from them since.

I realize they are fairly busy and have been losing employees left and right over the last couple of months. But if I haven’t heard anything by tomorrow morning I think I will ask them to return it and let me know when they actually can get around to working on it. If it is going to be sitting gathering dust over there, I might as well get some use out of it.

Learned I definitely need to tie my hair back before holding my friend's baby. As soon as the kid was on my shoulder, the kid immediately grabbed two handfuls of hair and kept a deathgrip on them for the next 20 minutes.

Yep, you learn quickly that hair, glasses, jewelry etc are faster than you can respond grabs for babies or the beaks of parrots. (mutters something about his military macaw almost taking an earlobe off once due to "oh shiny!")

I've heard that, pretty much from the moment they're born, babies have enough grip strength to support themselves. Do you concur?

Just had my second jab (Astra Zeneca). Waiting for either the mind control instructions from Bill Gates or the blood clots. Whichever gets me a day off work, really.
OBEY THE HYPNO-BORIS. THE FNORDS ARE NOT REAL. THERE IS NO FUZZ GROWING ON YOUR TEETH.
After I got mine I had a strange, irresistible urge to start reading the Daily Mail.

I always kindly refuse to hold a baby when offered or asked. I usually claim that I'm "afraid I might drop it".

"This thing is going to suck all the money, sleep and joy out of your life for the next twenty years. I'm afraid to meet its cold, dead eyes to be honest."
We've learned it is best to not speak the truth on certain subjects.

The same goes for family meetings you don't feel like attending: make something up or you'll be guilt-tripped into attending anyway and the whole family will know about it.

Do these abilities stack? I'm thinking "baby" class with race "parrot" has like +6 DEX. Ultra OP bro.
Nature hates powergamer as much as most DMs. It tends to either not let things stack or viciously applies any listed penalties.

I feel like Australia might be that other kind of DM who just says "Screw it! Let's see what happens!"
