Remember this? It was a Pepsi product back in the 90s. It tasted like flat Sprite. I was working in that soft drink business back then and it was a total dud.

The problem there is at the bottom of the can and likely has nothing to do with the contents.

I remember getting some Star Wars POS from the Pepsi guy I was friends with during the Episode I lead up. This was also when the stores would let us build massive displays.

I like that you used POS with not further explanation. If you know, you know.

Most people would say “piece of shit”? It’s “point of sale” in the retail world. One of the things I should have kept was the Darth Maul stand-up.

Oh, I know what it is my man, I did my time in purgatory. I scored a couple of cardboard standups from my local comic store at one point, which I still have somewhere. A McFarlane Hobgoblin and a Buscema Wolverine. Sun-faded a bit, but very cool. They had pride of place in my room until I moved out for uni.

I used to hear the first few bars of this song constantly during the 80s because it was used in an anti drink-driving advert on TV. The song faded away to the sight of a man in ICU struggling to live. Even without those visuals, it's impactful.

POS is “Point of Service” in the medical world.

and I still have my KB Toys Episode I store banners and signage.

A GI Joe / Alf crossover with caber tossing wouldn't even look out of place on the TV show. Really, it's shocking that there isn't a kilt wearing joe from the late eighties that comes with a real wooden caber and bagpipes.

I got this from somewhere when the 25th Anniversary Editions were in the cinemas. I still have it sitting over the stairs. I can't actually reach it without some kind of ladder.

My brother sold our Battle Beasts for 150 euros! It was the complete first series of 18 figures, near-mint and complete with weapons.

edit: We're not sad. 150 euros is a very good price and they were gathering dust and eventually going to disintegrate in his attic. Now we each got 75 euros out of them and the buyer probably has a better purpose for them than we.

It's like watching your parents put on a school play
I've never seen that, so I wouldn't know. I've seen a part my own school play once*. That was quite horrifying, but this was way worse.

* I'm so glad that back then it wasn't so common to film everything. Also, fortunately, that particular video recording was already deteriorating and not in the possession of any of my relatives. Also, school reunions, never a good idea.

I didn't know there were Crystal Light aerobics competitions. Well, I didn't know there were national aerobics competitions at all...I'm not at all horrified though since that was pretty much middle of the road for 80s television. On, the other hand I did cringe at Alan Thicke's jokes. Those were terrible.

Come on folks! Who here has ever hopped on an airplane with either a hard drive or a bag full of disks to transfer a large amount of data because the whole round trip would actually be appreciably fast than using whatever "internet" method was currently available?

We had a whole network going, using bicycles.

Hehe I'm reading this from a U.S. perspective where your statement sort of implies you're talking about your childhood but recalling you're not from here and probably equally likely to be talking about college or a professional environment.

The bicycle is a very common and practical means of transport here for all ages. Our group of friends exchanged illegal copies of videogames and other data on floppydisks travelling on our bicycles. We communicated by txt-files on one of the floppies.
I was once stopped by the police while delivering a pack of floppies to a friend in the middle of the night. They only asked what was in the box I was carrying and why my light wasn't on. When I told them it was floppies they allowed me to continue my trip. I'd expected them to give me more trouble about my light not working.
This must've been in the early nineties. Most if not all of us were potheads. I was probably stoned while doing that particular delivery. Good times.

The Hendersen Kids...a very crappy cheaply made Australian TV childrens drama early 1980s, totally 'godawful' by today's standards. I also didn't think it was much back then.
However note one of the last frames at 0:31 (and this is also the shot in the thumbnail) - the 'bully kids' - that's Ben Mendelsohn in the top left corner, and Kylie Minogue in the bottom right corner...

This is the second time in 24 hours I’ve heard this expression, bringing the total count to two.

is this a meme I missed?
Nah just collective reminiscing about the late 90's-early 2000's.

I recall work having me jump on a plane with a bag of hard drives to bring a newly aquired companys data to corporate HQ. The internet transfer would have taken weeks.

Silent Mobius would have made a cool concept for an RPG - the mix of cyberpunk and fantasy (though of a very different style than Shadowrun)

It actually did have a RPG in Japan. It took me years to acquire a copy, whereupon I found I had been misinformed about it being a derivative of D&D/AD&D, and what it was is beyond my reading ability.

i’ve been trying to find my copy for about a year now, as I moved it while cleaning and can’t recall where I moved it to. It may have had an actual module released for it, or it may have had a self-contained solo gamebook released as well; shipping costs have stopped me from buying a copy to find out.
