Best Selling RPGs - Available Now @ DriveThruRPG.com
I think there are a few people here who have some passionate opinions but I think for a large sum of us this is where we go to get away from the super opinionated. I mean there's a good number of them in real life and I don't need more. I probably dont notice them much because I dont think I can get worked up enough to fight over anything this forum is dedicated to.

Group pressure and general consensus are real things, and very much part and parcel of human life.

But although I've seen some dogpiles in the Pub - and they're low intensity compared to many many other RPG places in the Interwab - I can't say I've seen a mob on this forum (then, I don't read all the threads because I've got a life  ).

Mobs are kind of bloodthirsty, and this forum hasn't got a taste for blood (aside from dragons' blood - sorry, Smaug !).

I sincerely think the folks who are running this site are doing an amazing job of keeping things positive in here. And I'm not saying that to suck up to them (I don't know how to suck up, because I'm such a sophisticated French bastard generously dispensing my Old Europe aristocratic wisdom with nonchalance and laissez-faire :shade:).

My 2 cents anyway. Take care everyone. Peace.

The cover art reminds me a lot of the artist for Artesia

Oh, that's pretty! Is that for the most recent edition?

Indeed it is, and it was an easy sell for me not just because I am a major completionist, but it has a ton of stuff in a very tight package. Loads of new spells, some monsters, some expanded rules revolving around magic... Sounds like a very good book, and one that is damn near necessary at my table once I kick things off.

EDIT: https://www.chaosium.com/the-red-book-of-magic-hardcover/ -- That's the one

I got that not too long ago myself, though I've not had a chance to look it over properly.
I've also got the 3rd edition of Kieckhefer's Magic in the Middle Ages book on pre-order at Amazon. Supposed to ship September 9th. You might be interested in that one too. I read the 1st edition many years ago, but didn't read the 2nd edition, so looking forward to seeing what new information there is.

Thanks. I'm in the same boat--I have a copy of the first edition but never got the second. I may wait for reviews to see how much the third edition has changed before considering buying it.

This showed up in my mailbox today!

I like this cover ; it quite conveys the informations that magic is a thing of the Gods and the Spirits, that you practice it in lockstep with the Divine, that it is quite powerful, and... nasty and dangerous !

I dig the artist, really, but... last time I read Artemisia I couldn't help notice that he's got difficulties in drawing his characters' faces (as in: they all look the same). But it was a long time ago, so maybe he's improved (yes, I'm quite demanding in the artistry department).

Just picked up Alien and Vaesen. Haven't run the year zero engine, so I thought I'd give it a go. One of these will be my next game for sure. I don't know if I could run an 19th century game, so might push the time forward a bit.

Picked up Spire and Heart.

How’s Heart?

I’ve had Spire for a while and am finally preparing to run a campaign starting in a week or so. I really like the setting and the system seems pretty cool.

I am definitely considering picking up Heart. If you don’t mind sharing your thoughts on it, that’d be awesome.

I haven’t dug deep yet, but Heart was what inspired me to get the books. I love the Darkest Dungeon vibe.

Gotcha. Yeah, from what I understand Heart leans more into dungeon crawling through the Spire setting. When you do get to them, let me know.

I was thinking of starting a Spire thread once I get my campaign started, but it's not a game that comes up in discussion a lot here, so I wasn't sure if it would make sense to do that.

I've got the Spire Bundle of Holding but haven't had a chance to run or play it yet. Want to get a hardcopy of Heart I think.

Heart looked too pretty to not get in print.

Reading through Spire, this looks great. This is how you make a game with a political statement while still remembering to make a cool, playable game.

I'll be snagging the rest of the PDFs, for sure.

I picked up two RPG books in the last 10 days, at a couple of my favorite comic/game stores. The first was the Luther Arkwright RPG, though I'm not all that familiar with the comics and setting it's based on, I am all about D100 systems.

The second is the new Dune Adventures in the Imperium RPG. My wife is a fan of the books (though I admit I've not read them) and this might draw her back to the gaming table. I don't know the 2D20 game system, but the reviews for Dune seemed mostly positive and it feels like it might be hard to come by if the license issues arise yet again.

I never have been able to find a copy of Luther Arkwright in person, snd the core isn’t on DriveThruRPG for some reason. I bought the adventure collection some time ago, but I had to put it down after beginning to read the third scenario.

I also acquired both of these within the past few months and they’re fantastic books; even if my luck goes sour and I can’t get a group together they are a delight to flip through.
