"Hi... yeah, could I have 6 giant rats please". Don't know why I found that so funny!

The guy being labelled as Role-player, Frother and Student got me.

Hackmaster 4E is literally (word for word in some cases) just AD&D 1E with 10% humor added (apparently a requirement of the license Kenzer had), a bunch of Dragon/UA stuff folded in, and some additional unique stuff that Kenzer came up with. I feel like it's AD&D 1.5E
Oh yeah, I had it mistaken for RoleMaster today when I replied:grin:! It's when you mentioned "Kenzer" and "license" that I realized I'm off base:thumbsup:.

My players voted for the Sword, the Crown, and the Unspeakable Power for this weekend's game. I've started reading/prepping it and it could be fun. The player who is going to be the Crown is my player who inadvertently always plays Dr. Watson. We'll see how he does when he is in charge.

Adventure Seed: Oil Supply – Part 1: A Little Fix
A single spark can become an inferno. What starts as a tenement fire is only the beginning, Dead Heads, Black Dragons, the Union, but who is pulling the strings?

I require a full report of the proceedings. SCUP is right at the top of my to-play list.

SESSION FIVE OF NIGHT BELOW (5e)

A somewhat lackluster session due to rushed prep and a string of unlucky rolls. We have also moved back to Roll20 and I find it easy for people to get distracted and things take longer than they should.

August 8th, 234CE

- Play begins in the Goblin Shaman's private cave around 12am on August 8th.

- Having traded the shield+1 for the Ring, the party say their farewells to the goblin tribe who are eager to see them gone. Adventurers make them nervous.

- Bastion gives the Shaman a Talisman of Kelemvor. Though the Goblin does so with reservations, he places it on a ledge in the cave and promises to cherish it.

- The party leaves and debates their destination, deciding to march through the Patchwork Hills north, and cut across the plains to their estate purchased last session.

- A random encounter is rolled with the result of Goblins, a hunting party carrying a deer. The group spots them with a high Perception check and decides to avoid them.

- Arriving at the farmhouse, the party brew an excellent Frog Stew after Dasia rolls a good Survival check and rustles a few up.

- They rest until the early afternoon.

- Traveling to Milborne without incident, they meet with Darius Carman once more and explain to him the Mystery of the New Mire. He marvels at the ring, a single bead of moisture running down his thumb as he holds the thing. He suggests Tauster may be able to help out with Identifying it.

- He pays the group their promised reward, holding Bastion's portion for when stone and timber are available to start construction on his temple, and Darius tells the group about more possible work: a river boat is in town, seeking guards for their trip to Thurmaster and onward to Parlfray Keep.

- Bastion heads to the market to preach the gospel of Kelemvor and soon Samheis shows up, the new priest of St. Cuthbert met in the first session.

- A short theological conversation is had, and the priest tells Bastion of the Gleaming Glade, a location in the Hardlow Woods where a long-dead Parlfray defeated an evil priest of Rannon, the Lord of the Unquiet Grave. The land is cursed, says Samheis, surely Undead walk there. Bastion vows to travel there and deal with the necromantic threat.

- Balki talks to Garyald, telling him of their experiences in the New Mire. Garyald suggests that since Jelleneth has not yet been found that she may have run away. Balki argues against this and asks of the ranger Shiraz. Garyald says that there has been no word of Jelleneth from her, but that Shiraz is dealing with an issue of her own. Balki neglects to follow up on this.

- Nelson the Gnomish druid, his player having returned, talks to Old Grizzler. They trade insults and Nelson asks him if he possesses knowledge of magic rings. They dwarf says he knows of no rings that leak water.

- Back in the square, a riverboat captain approaches Bastion and makes an offer for work. As mentioned, they need guards for the journey to Thurmaster. Bastion accepts on the group's behalf.

- Captain Gorm tells them to meet him on the unfinished bridge the next morning and the group retires.

- Walking up early, the weather is discovered to be almost unprecedentedly foggy. A light drizzle falls.

- The group meet with Captain Gorm and board The Painted Lady.

- While they travel east, which is slow work considering the fog and the general untrustworthiness of the river, Gorm tells the group about his travels from Helm.

- About 6 hours into their trip, as the bulk of the Thornwood looms to the south through the curtain of fog, the boat hits something in the river and comes to a complete stop.

- The group pass their Dex saving throws and remain on their feet, but arrows fly out of the mist to the north and combat begins.

- A group of six armed men run out of the fog, some begin to cross the water towards the stuck boat while others fire crossbows at the surprised group on the deck.

- Someone beyond the group's line of sight to the north begins chanting a spell and Bastion is Held.

- A terrible fight ensures. Though Bastion shrugs off the effects of the Hold Person spell, he rolls critical miss after critical miss, dropping his rapier again and again into the river.

- Balki critically misses, shooting Nelson in the back and Dasia is almost immediately knocked unconscious by a bandit into the water, surviving through her sheer dwarven fortitude (three death saves at disadvantage).

- The brave Captain Gorm, though terribly wounded, slays a bandit with a knife while his crew cover in fear.

- The tide turns and bandits are slain left and right, the evil priest Ranchefus raising up one as a zombie after his Guiding Bolt luckily misses Balki.

- Finally, all the bandits are thrown down and Ranchefus barely escapes with his Wings of Flying after Bastion hits him with two Holy Smites, bringing him down from 60 to 19hp.

- Play Ends and the DM grants the party a level, realizing at this time that Dasia was never leveled up when the group did two sessions ago. Might have made a difference!

A tough session. Running a game from one PDF while looking up converted statistics in another (all on different pages) was annoying and we got less done than I'd wanted. Still, we're moving along!

Crossfire hit's a snag and needs support. The question is, who supports the supporter?

I've sort of got the writing itch back again I was checking out various SRD's available on itch, and have some ideas I plan on working on using a couple. Right now though, I'm working on something for Drivethu's PocketQuest using a more narrative system called Breathless.

Two of my Players were not able to make it to the first session of the Sword, the Crown, and the Unspeakable Power, but the other two made characters:
  • Umbra, the Wizard of the North. (the Adept)
  • Chander Tirill of the Circle of the Sacred Well (the Hex)
Next up we'll make the Crown and the Black Hood.

The foundational Myth of the game I took from the fluff of Weekend Warrior Experience larp, so I can start learning it for this fall. LOL Here it is:

So the Adept gains his power from the Shards of the Void and the Hex gains his from the Shards of Life.

Same here! Been meaning to play it for ages.

In the midst of a battle last Savage Worlds session, Pierre was at -3 thanks to one level of Fatigue and two Wounds. I gave him a Benny for managing to roll a zero.
Always funny, that, and doubly so with a creative GM...:shade:

Technically it's Latin for "through my greatest fault".

Thou dost quote the Confiteor falsely, methinks.
Exactly. Fault acknowledged...now where does it say I'm sorry for said fault:angel:?

Mea culpa is "I did this to you"
The maxima just adds "Fuck! Yeah!"
So much yes! Except the "mea culpa" I'd translate as "yeah, it was me"...
"Fuck! Yeah!" however, is a very adequate translations of the feelings when adding "maxima":shade:!

Eric Bloom is a pretty cool dude. Big into online gaming btw, he used to game with some of us over in an online text based rpg for some years via GEnie services. He also was into the graphical based mmorpgs that came along later. My wife keeps closer tabs on him these days than I do since I don't do Facebook etc.

I have signed up to Chaosium's Writing Course, to try and learn new tricks.

We'll see how it goes, but at least this way I'll write Ragnaglar's Breath, which includes acid rain, poison gas and all sorts of nice things for Dorastor. Shower of Gorp, anyone?

Adventure Seed: Oil Supply – Part 2: Brand New Me
Who is the Suit, and what are they planning along with the Black Dragons? Brand New Me picks up where A Little Fix left off. Find out what's really going on as you face off against gangs, robots, and supervillains in this epic conclusion.

Still working on my PocketQuest game. I'm not great at writing adventures (I tend to write plots akin to SW Savage Tales). The author of Breathless has what he calls "Adventure Frames" for one of his other Breathless games, and sent me some of that to use as a reference for mine. I went a little overboard with the first one I wrote. I went back and heavily revised it today, and felt much better with the results. I plan on doing 2 more, and then I'll export it from Affinity to pdf, then upload it to Drivethru. I've been enjoying the challenge of putting this together, and hopefully this doesn't turn out to be :crap:

Looking forward to my DCC game tomorrow. Last session we gained a home base, we bought an inn in one of the small cities that we've been basing out of lately with some of the loot we gained from defeating a two headed giant troll. Same troll that criticaled my warriors leg and gave him -5 to movement. Hehe.

Steel Aces: Playing Jacks 2, Page 11: Do You Though?
It's time for Bulwark and Guardian to learn what wave two really looks like as Huntsman takes on both heroes.
