Ridiculous eBay Prices

Best Selling RPGs - Available Now @ DriveThruRPG.com
I bought one of these for .99 cents back in the day, and people kept giving me copies as a gift. I better go see how many I still have, to determine if I can retire early.

An outrageous price - that really isn't when you think about what's included

There’s already five bids. Somebody must really want those Mentzer boxed sets!

Are woodgrains at 10k these days?

Act 1, Scene 1 of the world's most cringe heist film, Ocean's 1d10+1.

I have two types that irk me. This is one. High prices for empty boxes. $112 for a Holmes box.

The other thing I hate is when they take one of the reprints, which are still available at the source, and sell it at a much higher price. This one is double the price. At least they admit it's a reprint and shipping's not horrific.

But come on, if you order it from DriveThru, you have to wait a few extra days while they print it. This guy has a copy ready to go now. When you think about it, paying double is a real bargain!

This may have made sense during the Pandemic when DriveThru PoD orders were delayed by 2-3 months, but that's sorted now.

It’s the Woodgrain Box that would be the real $. The whole thing went for USD16k
Oh indeed. I'm hoping, and suspect, the stuff will go to a good home. That's the kind of price someone pays when they are a collector who wants to curate and preserve things for humanity. It's far more than just having the game to play. May seem like alot, but that is more due to disparity in wealth. Can easily see a multi-millionaire geek deciding to buy this...it's a very inexpensive toy in the greater scheme. Nothing like planes, boats, cars or second, third, fourth homes...etc. Also less than the tip it seems for a 2 day luxury yacht cruise

You can pay $80.00 bucks plus $5.00 shipping to get something that's available through DriveThruRpg (probably originally from DriveThru) for $30.00 bucks including pdf plus probably similar shipping.
Now I wonder whether the seller originally bought the 'Hardcover + pdf' deal, and somewhere there's another listing of the Spelljammer pdf for double its cost?

That's pretty pathetic..
Though get this. The English version of that book are no longer available on DriveThruRpg. lol. Just the non English versions. Even though that's a previous DnD version, I guess WotC didn't want the competition with their new version of Spelljammer? It was available a few months ago because I was pondering getting it to re-add to my library. lol

Edit: Just occurred to me that the seller had this figured out and making a buck from WotC being asshats. Well played eBay Seller, well played.

I just checked DTRPG and the English version is still for sale. Are you behind a VPN or something?

It's available for me. $26.99 for the hardcover plus shipping.

Agreed with above. Spelljammer: Adventures In Space is still up for PoD. Were you looking at the wrong book? Some of the other books aren't for PoD.

Odd, I'll go look again. I had no luck when I did search on their site and only found it when I Googled it and it showed the Portuguese language version only. Huh, odd, probably a PEBKAC. ::grumble::

Edit: Found it listed in dmguild and not drivethrurpg, so definitely a PEBKAC situation. Someday I'll figure out how/why they'll list some things from DnD in DriveThruRpg and others only in dmguild, they're both the same damn company.

TristramEvans TristramEvans Since you asked me about the Firefly board game expansion I kept having problems getting on eBay. Thought I'd mention that today I finally won the bid for that last expansion my wife was missing. The Kalidasa expansion. Managed to get it sealed in box for $150.00, about $75.00 cheaper than the last one I bid on and lost the bid right when time ran out when I'd last bid $225.00 and someone bid 2.50 I think it was higher. lol Glad to get that out of the way.

Oh man. Great Escape in Murfreesboro is having a 20% off in-store sale this Saturday. When I stopped by last weekend they had the core plus 2 expansions there. I didn’t really register the prices but it felt like they were cheaper than that.

Been trying to find one for months. Ever since my wife mentioned that she was missing it. Kept getting out bid, so in the end I'm just happy to finally get the darn thing.

Just thought I'd comment on something.

I received an RPG book I ordered from an ebay seller today. It was a normal transaction, meaning I got what I wanted and the seller got some money and there were no problems.

A recurring issue I've had with ebay packages have been USPS postal carriers. For some of them, if they can in any way manage to shove something into the mailbox to avoid having to deliver a package, they will. I've had perfect bound RPG books ruined because the postal carrier went out of their way to fold the package along the book's spine, effectively breaking the book. This would be possible because sellers would not pack the items protectively. Most ebay RPG sellers can barely be bothered to put a RPG book into an oversized envelope if they can get away with it. For that reason, I'm always happy when sellers go to any effort whatsoever to provide some protective packing, even if it's as minimal as putting "Do not fold or bend" on that oversized envelope.

This seller actually used bubble wrap around the item, and had the book in and taped securely into a cardboard wrap style of packaging. I felt it was more than sufficient for the item, and it did it's job well. I left positive feedback happy that the seller had taken that basic step.

Usually after I leave feedback, I just double check that it made it to the seller's profile. I've had a few instances where feedback didn't take and I'd have to submit it again. So I go to the seller's profile and see things are fine, but the seller has a neutral feedback from another buyer. I'm curious, so I decide to check what the neutral feedback was from.

The neutral was a customer who got the exact same kind of packing that I got for my item, but they were NOT HAPPY about it. They did not consider it sufficient at all. They were not happy.

I thought that was amusing. I was happy with the packing I got while the other guy got the exact same thing and was pissed off about it as not good enough. I hope that other guy doesn't order a lot of RPG stuff from ebay.
