And I'm reminded of a couple of pieces from Fantasia, in something closer to their original choreography.

Chinese dance from The Nutcracker Suite - this features in the sequence with the dancing mushrooms. This video also includes The Russian Dance.

And Dance of the Hours, actually the final act of an opera called La Giaconda by a chap called Ponchielli. Unfortunately there don't seem to be any live performances on Youtube with decent audio levels, so you may need to turn your sound up for this one. The animation from Fantasia for this one is fab, and apparently the ostriches, the hippo and the crocodile were all based off real people. Sadly, due to The Mouse's enthusiasm for copyright enforcement, full clips of this sequence aren't abundantly available on the interwebs.

Still, the bloke in the red outfit has an impressive codpiece.

So below is Bach - Cantate BWV 156 - Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe. Give it a listen and tell me if I'm crazy. I put it on just now and I hear a whole lot of Hey Jude at the beginning. Maybe I'm just tired....

You are not crazy

Is this something that's a know thing, except for me? :errr:

I don't know. But hearing the video you posted I see what you are talking about.

But looking it up online now apparently that was an inspiration for Hey Jude (I know a lot of rock music does borrow or take inspiration from classical: the song Black Sabbath is a variation basically on Mars the Bringer of War). Here is a video on Bach's inspiration for modern music:

So, TIL Paganini, best known for painfully hard violin caprices, also wrote this.

That smile at 52 sec and that look at 1:51...

I've always wished I could jam like that... my brain gets in the way too much on keyboards and guitar.

My grandmother was a violinist. Unfortunately I am a certified talent-free zone. We know this because she attempted to teach me the violin and even sent me to violin lessons. The results were .. not pretty. Poor Miss Bognuda was traumatised by it to the extent that she remembered it years later when we once bumped into her on the street.

And that is how I came to know that I don't have a shred of musical talent. It has been theorised that my musical talent is the only thing in the universe smaller than Planck's constant.

I feel this would make an epic sound track for a battle -

An 11 character-singer scifi themed symphonic/prog metal piece from the Ayreon Project with some production notes in this video. Virtual who’s who of prog metal vocalists.

Noticed Phil Ochs is gaining some traction on reaction video channels. Mostly his protest music, but these are some of the ones I have seen people react to (the last two are a couple of his wittiest):

Also saw someone reacting to his song Changes, which I've always felt was a very sweet and simple song:
