GMS every time his latest Far West deadline comes and goes, amiright? :hehe:

Brandon Sanderson: "Hey, here's four books I wrote in my spare time between other books!"

His Cosmere stuff is basically my current literary obsession. I'm probably always going to be a bit sad that I was between jobs and on a tight budget when his kickstarter was live. Ah, well. C'est la vie.

If anyone noticed the emoji change in my post above, I honestly thought I was using a "pointing up" emoji until I thought to scroll over it just now and saw it was captions "fu." I was not intending to say f-u to anyone in this thread, and therefore I have made the change. Sorry if there was any confusion, or if I accidentally offended Baulderstone Baulderstone . I intended "pointing at the thing above," and I didn't check the emoji first, and I messed up.

I saw the post earlier, but I didn't notice the weaponized emoji, so don't worry about it. If I had seen it, I'd probably have assumed it was pointed at GMS in that context.

So, now that FW in the final stages before delivery (:clown:), will GMS tackle the pending pre-orders for Buckaroo Banzai? I'm sure al it takes is a change of rules, a renegotiation of the license and the final layout. Maybe a playtest session or two. Should be coming SoonTM.
But hey! Twitter is a harsh mistress. Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.

Meanwhile there is a change he will boast about being nominated for an Ennie, for some product he contributed half a page of scribbled lines too.

Someone give me the Tl;dr - this is going to be out any day now, right:grin:?

I just did some rough math. GMS joined Twitter in 08/2009, almost 13 years ago. That's 4745 days, not accounting for leap years. He has tweeted ~52.4k times during that span. That's around 11 tweets per day, every day, for almost 13 years. Since I am sure he's putting the same dedication and focus into Far West, the answer is yes, any day now.

Will Winds of Winter come out before Far West?
I liked the interview with George and Stephen King, where George asks how Stephen manages to churn out book after book, and Stephen replies something like "Every day I sit down at my desk and I write x pages."

Edit: goddit (it was vi pages)

...actually, one word per tweet wouldn't have been bad, either:shade:.

When you say 'any day', the emphasis is on 'any', yeah?
Yes, of course:grin:!
It was the "favoured novels" thread that reminded me of this fiasco, to be honest:thumbsup:!

What would happen if the inventor of the time machine went back in time and killed his own grandfather?
What would happen if you could prove God is fallible?
What would happen if you gave Schrodinger 's Cat a laserpointer?
Sheezes! Think! Before you decide to collapse the universe, yeah!?

Although, to be fair, he did also screw the pooch on ICONS Team-Up before Far West (I believe it predated Far West, anyway...I remember just shrugging and going "lesson learned" when I never got my print copy, then Kenson took control of ICONS after that).
And this is why I never backed anything else with his name on it

I guess it's back to sockpuppets to spy on the nerds who have me blocked

A propos of nothing in particular... Since when can you no longer browse Twitter more than a page down, before you get a nasty popup to Register & Login?
I remember not too long ago reading was unrestricted..

I noticed that too and was irked, even though I still have an account.

Ublock Origin can remove the overlay so you can scroll. Just have to use the element zapper to do so. I agree that it's annoying.

Yes, seems to date back about 1-3 weeks? BOOOOOO!
Then again too many tweets may be bad for your health.

I think of Twitter as the goose of the social media sphere.

It might be worth noting that I started on a spooky western in December 2021 and it is about to be released in a few weeks as a PDF. I'm not saying its a race, but I am saying he had a head start.

Just checking (as you haven't actually released anything yet) are you saying you've beaten him to publish, or are you saying that the race is about 'who procrastinates the longest', and that he's had a biiiiggggg head start? Cos Skarka's been saying he'll 'release in a few weeks' for a very long time!

So this has likely already been answered, but what happened to all the money from the campaign? How did he spend it all, and was there ever talk of a lawsuit?

I at least had a preview (6 playbooks and one threat) go out to Patreon members. It's out of my hands at this point, but at least it doesn't have to be printing/shipping limbo.

Here's the cover:

The money is long since spent, and nobody would ever bother with a lawsuit. No individual lost enough for Small Claims, and there wasn't enough money involved for there to be a Class Action.

The only way a lawsuit happens is if someone funds it themselves out of spite.

I imagine expenses were higher than projected and all the money is gone. People love to claim that Kickstarter money was spent on hookers and blow when in reality it's almost always a case of the creators biting off more than they could chew.

@ Jetstream Jetstream answered the lawsuit question.

Honestly, I doubt any of it was even spent on the project. Kevin Crawford keeps his project money set aside to be spent only on that until he releases. That's how you do it right.

Skarka? Naw, he didn't spend his paltry $50k on "hookers and blow." He probably just threw it in his checking account and spent it on food and rent.

Huh. It didn't occur to me that a professional in the industry would be so stupid and irresponsible as to dump Kickstarter money into a personal account for their own use but I suppose that's possible. Not saying it's true but if it is, it would help explain why people are losing their minds over the minor inconvenience of losing some money on Kickstarter. I thought they were just being petty losers.

I mean, if he hadn’t done that, then he should still have the cash. Unless he just keeps buying art and shit and then throwing it away when he changes his mind?

But it’s been my experience that it takes a lot of discipline to have money and then acknowledge that that money isn’t YOURS until a product is delivered. Discipline that I reckon the man doesn’t have given it’s been, what, 10 years now?
