The Predestination Engine & Other Stories is our first scenario collection for Casting the Runes. These seven investigations take the characters across the United Kingdom at the turn of the 20th Century, from London to Edinburgh, and involve them in hauntings, summonings, strange rites, macabre visitations, and things from folklore. Each adventure is standalone, but a loose campaign can be formed, and while developed for Casting the Runes, the adventures are almost statistics-free and can be used with your favourite supernatural rules-set.

Written by Paul StJohn Mackintosh and Tobias Cooper, these adventures wonderfully evoke the atmosphere of Edwardian Britain.

Big fan of the game I'll need to get this soon!

The setting is Edwardian by default.
I get that now, I just don't own it and didn't realize that was the case. I own most of the Mythras stuff, but one can only purchase so many things at a time. I'll move CtR up my to-buy list.

Casting the Runes is a GUMSHOE game, right? Not Mythras?

Fenris-77 Fenris-77 yeah it's a GUMSHOE game by TDM. I'm still interested because I like the system (got PDFs for all kinds of Pelgrane press stuff). But flagging you just in case you weren't aware that it isn't Mythras.

I had forgotten this was Gumshoe, so now I’m even more interested in the conversion. I’ve been working on my own Mythshoe

Funny you should say that, I'm doing something similar for Victorian/Edwardian Mythos-adjacent play.

Paul StJohn Mackintosh, who wrote 'Casting the Runes', will be producing a Mythras version. It'll focus heavily on using Mythras for investigative games, which is something the rules can do, but we haven't explicitly tackled so far. Plus an Edwardian setting with a cleave towards folklore/folk horror rather than the Mythos, and I think it'll be a great setting. Mind you, the Casting the Runes Gumshoe books still contains tons of rules agnostic information on Edwardian period.

I'd actually rather the focus be on folklore and folk horror rather specifically mythos stuff. RPGs for mythos stuff are already thick on the ground (too thick in some cases IMO).

I will be very interested to see this. I have no doubt it can, and am not familiar enough with CoC to know of any investigative predecessors. Gumshoe i liked because it specifically bypassed some investigative issues. I'm hoping for a pretty full discussion of that.

Grabbed. Been following this game since you first announced it on the MR James Appreciation page.
