essentially, i'm looking for options I can steal stuff from that are in the same vein as Tamoachan or Forbidden City. Tamoachan is just about perfect - right length, incentive, etc.

Any adventures people would recommend in this space? Bonus points if it is close to a one shot or a competition module

edit: i just found adventurelookup, so that should help. and it reminded me of isle of dread, which i've used 3 times and they still don't realize it.

It's small, but Spiderbite from White Dwarf #55 is a neat little dungeon in a jungle.
small is perfectly fine. it's to toss in when a dungeon is needed.
X8 Drums on Fire Mountain maybe? Dungeons under a pseudo-Polynesian island on Mystara.
excellent. i'm not familiar with this one, but yes definitely based on that flavor.

I remember it fondly from way back in the day. Given the recent brouhaha regarding a certain Mythras book, I should probably flag that it prominently features, well, Polynesian Orcs.

There's also Gygax's Isle of the Ape, which I believe is basically King Kong in Greyhawk. Never played or owned it though, so no idea if it includes a dungeon. Or is any good.

indeed, i will be ripping them out, not because they are some stand in for a minority, but rather there aren't orcs on the island
DCC has a new one, Jungle Tomb of the Mummy Bride. It is groovy.
awesome, i'll have to check that out. i have a small stack of DCC modules from a bundle, and they generally fit the tone. imagine, if you will, a set of WW2 soldiers, stranded on an island, exploring for map making or hunting for food for their camp, and coming upon a dungeon to investigate...

Hence the second line.

Into the Wyrd and Wild as a great die drop system for making what it calls wilderness dungeons. I use it expensively extensively. You'd have to populate it yourself of course, but that could just be a matter of some good random tables.

Melan(Gabor Lux) has the Temple of Pazuzu (3e) which is a jungle island setting with wilderness elements and a dungeon. There is also Palm Wine.
also not familiar with either of those. thanks!

Caverns of Thracia is set in a jungle. The 3e version contains many more details on the overground areas.

There are also several jungle-based submissions to the 1-page dungeon contest.

Another I didn’t know about and didn’t think about the contest

Lorn Song of the Bachelor by Hydra Cooperative is great. It might be a stretch to fit the whole thing into a single session, but it might be doable. There's definitely some good stuff to inspire / steal from in it.

It's not bad, but it can be brutal. Like OG Tomb of Horrors brutal.

Raleel Raleel , I'm not familiar with Tamoachan or Forbidden City, but the Savage Worlds adventure The Eye of Kilquato has a jungle dungeon at the end.

“We found a small supply of 7.62 ammo and can spare it for the machine gun”. It’ll be fine.

Two parters are fine. I’m just collecting a pile so I can pull from a variety of different sources.
Does Isle of Dread have useful jungle stuff? I don't recall....
Meh, it has a dungeon. I’ve used it a few times. They still haven’t caught on. The alien korpru will be perfect for introducing some alien tech that would be very handy if they ever get back to fight the axis!

The Shadows of Forgotten Kings is a jungle themed dungeon adventure. It's written by Zzarchov Kowolski, who (arguably) has produced the best adventures for Lamentations of the Flame Princess. I've only read this adventure, not run it or played it, but it seems like it would be pretty fun.

Hmm, the next module after Drums on Fire Mountain is X9 Savage Coast, which does have some jungle content. I haven't read it in ages though.

Thanks! No particular edition preference. I’ll end up hacking it anyways.

Secrets of xen' drick had generic adventure sites you could build adventures around then later in the book encounters.

If you already don't have it A bird in hand is an adventure for Monster Island.

The TG series from Cut to the chase games is available on Drivethru-

TG1 Lost Temple of Ibholtheg,

TG2 Tongues of the Screaming Toad,

TG3 Shadow Out of Sapphire Lake.

There is also The Feathered Valley on Drivethru

Pazio had some adventure paths set in the M'wangi expanse you might also be able to take things from.

There are of course the old D&D Hollow World adventures.

I've got a lot of use taking ideas from the old AD&D Scarlet Brotherhood book.

There is also Primeval Thule and there were some adventures put out for it.

Thanks! I have bird in the hand of course, as well as all the primeval Thule stuff. However, the rest I don’t have. The TG series and the hollow world stuff sounds right in the right spot. Definitely pulpy.

There are also some short adventures (one page to about ten pages) out for Primal Quest Essentials that might be of interest:

Tiny Weird Encounters: Primal Edition,

The Watchmen of When,

Witches Don't Die & The Demon From The Depths

To add on to this - any adventures that include alien tech, similar to temple of the frog or expedition to the barrier peaks?

I am sure you are not aware, but this is quite an amusing suggestion since the location of "The Head of Anak Krakatau" in Monster Island is a tribute to the "Spider Bite" scenario written by Oliver Johnson for White Dwarf. Unusually for Pete Nash, he signposted this in neon:
To one
side is a ledge upon which is another corpse is sprawled,
dressed in archaic colonist style together with brimmed hat
and some sort of leather rope coiled on its belt. Around
the neck is a pendant with the name Olv Jonson inscribed
upon it, and grasped in the bony fingers is a water-dam-
aged book – the only remaining words still legible being
‘dwarf’, ‘white’ and the number ‘55’.

This would make a good one converted to Mythras ... some good stuff in there. It has some "pygmy" stuff that I wish it didn't and makes me cringe, that aside it has an interesting location setup and is very well suited to Monster Island.

Oh, very cool. That would be some enticement to get Monster Island.

hello everybody!

here as always for my shameless self-promotion

my dungeon-in-jungle set in Ravenloft:

my dungeon-in-swamp set in Krynn:

I am also looking for jungle-themed adventures to mine for ideas. I'm working on a single-session horror crawl inspired by John Carpenter's The Thing.

The Serpent Crown.
Pulp survival-horror in the terrible world of Carcosa. An expedition for a snake-man artifact deep within the Tchlotlep Jungle turns into a deperate battle for survival.
