Yeah... I sort of like it, but it's not that good. Not even close.

I was in on the original Numenera KS, but it sure seems like everything they've done since then has been...expensive? Maybe I just got spoiled by getting tons of stuff for like $60, but all the post-Numenera KS's seem like not-a-deal, you know? I feel like I should just wait until they turn them over to Bundle of Holding for like $15 for everything...

They stopped the bleed and learned. Death by Stretch goal is a real thing in Kickstarter project, and many people are learning from it and not offering the moon in their KS anymore.

I just wait for the BoH now. Let's face it I'm not actually going to get it to the table before it hits BoH.

Cool. I just ordered two Ubiquity books, The Desolation books. Thanks for sharing this Ubiquity book.
The only Ubiquity book I have is Leagues Of Adventure, so I feel compelled to get this campaign for it
Thanks for posting, I am likely to back this if I can
This one ends at 7:00 PM PST today. Funding is through backerkit instead of Kickstarter.
Against popular demand, I've also backed this !!!
Numenera's my thing however, I wish MCG would return to primarily focusing on it, but a few generic Cypher books won't do me no harm
Time to go back to work and earn a few more quid to support this addiction, heh heh

I'm the opposite. There's been some really interesting things to come out of the Cypher system.

I certainly agree with you there, and I do have five or six Cypher books that also agree with you.
It's one of the reasons I prefer Cypher over Fate Core these days, as there is a healthy range of good quality products constantly being published.
But I do love the Numenera setting, and just want to see some more campaigns for the Ninth World at present; more Devil's Spine, Jade Colossus, Slaves of the Machine God, stuff like that

For those with too much time on their hands:

I just love the vibe of the Goodman Games products!!!
Such rich material and presentation from a fun bunch of people who totally dig the same stuff I like

In an another Alternate Universe, Joseph Goodman decides to branch out beyond DDC and D&D 5E to also publish Mythras Gateway books using Mythras Classic Fantasy as the engine. It's just a dream, but there are many parrellel universes out there, so I'm sure this must be happening in at least one of them, heh heh

I found this interesting while browsing Reddit tonight.

...I have three main issues with this:grin:.

1. WTF does "bioessentialism" mean? I honestly don't know. (Not sure if I want to know, either, but let's risk it:tongue:).

2. As above, for Asian "exoticism". (I mean, I've only read one Shadowrun edition, possibly 3rd, but don't remember anything specifically Asian in it. Might be me not remembering stuff from nearly 20 years ago, though, maybe it wasn't in the corebook).
Unless it's about the katana fetishism, which is...well, at some point the available information regarding swords was that katanas are simply better than any other sword (despite the fact that katanas are sabers to begin with, and "better" can be easily disputed even in that category:devil:). I'd assume that the mass-produced katanas in Shadowrun aren't produced using the traditional method, though...

3. The idea of "euro-style turns" in an RPG fills me with dread (Torchbearer, I'm looking at you:shade:)!

One that grabs my attention at the moment is Raven, an RPG that sells itself as role play in a world inspired by Edgar Allan Poe. "Gothic Horror and Cursed Magic." You play a member of a family with long history which is cursed somehow (sounds a little like Amber, actually) and have to deal with the curse and supernaturals trying to take you down. It's made by a small company from Spain, if I remember correctly, and this is their first English RPG. The vibe seems kind of like Ravenloft but the dice system is more narrative than 5E.

I am not sure if I would ever run Raven, but this game looks absolutley gorgeous!!!
If I do throw money at it, then it would be at the higher tiers for all that lush swag.
I've flagged this as a "Remind Me", it would definately have a home in my bookcase...

Same here. I'm getting the core book mostly as a pretty coffee table book. 'Been asking the campaign people to add the prints as an add-on.

For those with too much time on their hands:

This looks really cool, but I've realized recently that I don't need huge monster manuals any more. In a Dungeon Craft video, the lead designer's main elevator pitch was "there's 500 monsters!!!!" Like, okay, I have about 3000 monsters already across many monster manuals from various companies. What else makes this special? How many variations of goblins, giant spiders, oozes and skeletons do you really need?

I mean do any of us really need any new RPG products anymore?

It is not a matter of Need. It is a matter of Want and Desire.

Besides those of us who "are more comfortable economically" when compared to most gamers really need to support the hobby, much the way the wave (or two) before us did.

I didn’t do a good job on quoting Necrozius Necrozius but I was referring to their saying they don’t need huge monster manuals anymore. I mean I really don’t need any more RPG stuff honestly but there is some older stuff I want.

Well beyond core books and dice, there's nothing else we need to buy

Its quite amazing really when you think about it. The entire commercial side of this hobby is financially sustained by 'wants'

I'll post this here since in my opinion it deals with Kickstarter, Free League, Modiphius etc. Also, normally I don't like to see a business fail, especially in our shared passion/hobby.

That said, I am quite happy to see Funagain Logistics go away, because from day one that I had dealings with them they were utter shit. I'm surprised Free League didn't mention it, I guess this started happening towards the second half of January, my wife did a search and read out some article from Funagain Logistics about closing shop. Sounds like they did that very stupid thing of underbidding everyone else so much so that when shipping costs increased they were fucked.

Shadowdark by Kelsey Dionne (The Arcane Library) is now live on Kickstarter

The typography definitely took inspiration from the Black Hack, OSE, and (to an extent) Mork Borg. Most of the best parts, actually.

I don't need another OSR dungeon crawler, but I kind of want to support this one just based my my liking of their design ethos.

I just backed this (all the digitals). It sounds cool after watching a few reviews on YT. The only thing I'm not mad about is the 'real time' thing. That's a little too non-traditional for me. But I like the way that 'time' and 'light' should always be a factor and there 'aint no night vision.

Saw the author/artist of this one in the Randomworlds discord tonight. It's an attractive looking game, targeting being for kids as early as 5 year olds, but honestly, i'd probably be down for this if I had some whiskey or rum going. The game seems simple and fun.

Professor Dungeon Master does a quick preview of Shadowdark. Marrying old-school principles and dungeon crawling to modern game design and quality of life is my jam so I am excited for this release.
That was a great run through for it. I had already backed, but even more excited after this.

I'm vaguely interested in Shadow Dark, but not enough to throw money at it. Especially since I just picked up the Black Hack.

And I have Rune coming.

And ESPECIALLY since Five Torches Deep didn't hold my attention, and I see this as a similar effort.

Still, the KS seems to be doing well, so not about me.

All totally understandable! The Shadowdark RPG quickstart is free and I highly suggest that anyone interested take a look before backing.

I decided to back Shadowdark. It seems like a perfect practical companion to OSE. Fills in several gaps that I found missing.

Now the question is... do I get the core book in physical (costing me 100$ CAD with shipping) or do I get the full digital package to get all of the zines and adventures (for 75$ CAD)?

The book being black and white and very legible seems perfect for me to print out myself...

Edit: just scanned through the quickstart. This is definitely a nice book and system. I prefer the breadth of content in OSE, but there are MANY things in this that I'd use with it. Still torn between the physical core book or the all-in digital pledge.

Shadowdark's Thieves

I admit that I really like the simplicity of how this game handles thief skills (compared even to Lamentations of the Flame Princess). Basically all "checks" are roll d20 + attribute bonus vs. DC (no roll under attribute checks). Thieves get advantage on the traditional thief skills.

However, I like how at each level they get better at it in core BX/OSE. I wonder how to merge these two concepts?

I'm intrigued by this.

But am I correct in thinking that it is not "compatible" with 5e the way that Into the Unknown is?

It’s the mistaken belief in DNA.

Shadowrun had a ton of Japanese megacorps. However, there wasn’t much exotic about them. The Elven nations were the main exotic locales mainly due to Magic.

I’ll let someone more familiar with Into the Unknown answer this question about Shadowdark

Well you can ignore the reference to ItU -- I just wanted to know whether Shadow Dark is 5e compatible.

But after a bit of digging, it looks like it's not (which is fine -- I was just curious).
