Please tell me I'm not the only one whose first thought seeing that was "deathtrap & chronic radiation exposure"?
Yes, because the land would already be a desert environment, long before anyone though of having a picnic.

It is from a somewhat surreal film called the Color of Pomegranates; and I have kept on seeing that image today. To me, I think maybe she tells of illusions, that could be fortunes, or a quest for what is missing. She's the poet's muse in the film, appearing in multiple roles.

Parajanov was a genius.

Some of his imagery from The Colour of Pomengranates was nicked by a video director for Madonna. A common practice among video directors is to make a 'tribute' to a great art-film director that the vast majority of the pop fans are unlikely to get.

That's one of the weirder "robot giving head" pics I've seen.
I don't know what's more disturbing - the idea? Or the fact that I don't know what image this references...

He was and it is very sad how he was treated by the Soviet authorities over being gay. One thing that died with the USSR were all the small cultural writers, and film makers collectives, and now it seems their voices are silent.

How about this, is that she sells you illusions of life, love, warmth, and hope; then it's "And I Awoke and Found Me Here on the Cold Hill's Side" where you either give up, or try to fight it back. Either way you have lost a huge chunk of your life. (You can tell where my life is at)

A Pirates of Black Water Inspired Chronicle.

Just an Arcology - Put it on a planet, under the surface, on the surface, under the water, or in space (or a virtuality). Set people loose on it. Even without threats from outside or breaking things on the inside (which might happen to heighten drama), people will generate drama. Some of it interpersonal, some of it criminal, and some of it homicidal.

Atticus Doom from Mezco He is the inspiration for Mr.Bones

Okay, the rest of my writing this afternoon got hijacked. Mr Bones and the Eldritch are just too interesting.

The Eldritch Files **Noir Meta Pulp/ Urban Fantasy

Noir Introduction Monologue

"It's The City of Angels. No, it's really the City of Lost Angels. If there any angels here, they have certainly lost their way. Los Angeles and the entire valley, it's just a cesspool of corruption and actual evil; a place where dreams are broken, hearts are smashed, and greed runs rampant.

I'm a private investigator. I do what corrupt cops can't. I get answers. The cops may be corrupt, but they don't know. When I say the city of Los Angeles is corrupt and evil, I mean Evil with a capital e. The supernatural is here. The Eldritch for those in the know. Frequently people are changed, often after they've died in some way. Changed into supernatural killing machines. Using their special powers they get what they want whether it be vengeance or wealth.

I am Braden Chase and these are the Eldritch Files.

Don't get me wrong, The Eldritch have been with us since the beginning. The first time somebody crushed somebody's skull in with a rock. They have been here throughout history. The cause of many a legend I've been told. However, since The War and the American civil war, where war became a factory that turned out nothing but Death - cold heartless death. The Eldritch energy has increased. Now it exceeds the veil that protect us from these horrors. Now certain areas it's common. Most people can't see it, but most people might feel it. And if you're one of the unlucky few you can look at straight in the eye."

I came up with The Eldritch doing this character: Mr Bones. The Eldritch are half ghosts, half eldritch horror. The Horror needs an anchor to touch the world and a focus, a Ghost needs the power and the access. Combined, they become supernatural things. (Ferals, Hunters, Ghosts, Greedy, Undead, etc). There are the living who are touched by The Eldritch, who are wizards, loremasters, or slayers. Then of course, The Archies... you know the normal people in a noir pulp game that find themselves in deeper and darker than they could ever think they could get.

This could be a monster of the week (or monster every few weeks) with a monster arc (big bad or monster encountered a couple of times). It could be a straight spook hunter (ala CoC). It could be Pulp Supers vs Eldritch OR Pulp Supers and Eldritch vs Eldritch OR Eldritch (as the pulp supers) vs Criminals of the Day and the occasional Eldritch.

I want this set in the 20s-30 Los Angeles, with a dark noir feel. But other times, other places, with or without noir, could happen.

So far only 2200 words for it... but yes a setting and a chronicle or six

In the Heart of a baroque transtellar empire, The Pulse system allows the Emperor (a female in this case) to keep track of The Star Galactic Empire and the swirl of "great thoughts" and "great feelings" in her people. From The Pulse, she sends out troubleshooter to help quell any negative emotional swells/ thoughts and solve any problems. With Power Sword and Augment Suit her Knights defend the Star Galactic The Star Breed use the power of their minds to aide all. The Fold Pilots keep it all moving. The Troubleshooters download their minds and spirits to various bodies to make sure The Star Galactic stands tall and strong.

From Here
My first thought was it's like a benign 40K, but a) we don't actually know for sure this Emperor doesn't survive on sacrificed souls and b) "negative emotional swells" could include "discontent with the Emperor's regime". So maybe not that benign...

This painting makes me want to write an Over the Edge scenario and/or Delta Green recursive operation involving some incredulous metanarrative where the players play Agents who have become aware they are characters in a roleplaying game played by the nerdy kids of Carcosa while their parents are off at that cliché play about strangers and masks and boring old adult things. It seems like the game has been going on forever and the Agents have become self-aware shadows cast on the walls by an unseen light...

Something with flying ships...
I was having the same thought the other day. I sometimes get the urge to do an islands-floating-in-the-sky setting. I blame watching Flash Gordon at an impressionable age.

It could be sword-and-planet or high-fantasy, but dieselpunk is a bit more exciting because I have never really done anything with it. The islands are floating in the sky of a gas giant. There is a not-Ming baddie building an empire with his navy of Sky Dreadnoughts.

The PCs might be pottering around in something like this just trying to make a living:

I would throw in sorcery as well, maybe as a lost art that has to be rediscovered to give the free peoples a chance against the evil empire of sky dreadnoughts.

I've used this, actually.
I don't want to just use their art, so I'll probably work with an artist to create my own for my game. The idea just gave me so many ideas as to what I wanted.

This is not a music video, so it does not go into the other thread. If you watch the whole thing, it is a "piece of art" in the most definitional sense. Someone is either mad or a genius or both. (It is long, so have the hour+ set aside.)

I was going to say my inspirations are a bit NSFW, but compared to Galactic Ass Creatures from Uranus they're pretty tame!

OK that's three pics. Main thing is that this obscure (in English) dead S&S comic artist Brocal Remohi massively inspired my Dragonbane: Xoth campaign. :shade:

Bunnies & Burrows 1.jpeg

This is one of those nature photos that, if you know what is going on, it's stunning and full of awe. And if you don't know what's going on, it's fodder for untethered imagination.

Having higher degrees in science and religion, I can say with absolute certainty this is obviously a midnight ritual of Lepus eschatology to forestall the End of the World as Hares Know It.

This has also become a cover image for our Bunnies & Burrows campaign.
