Toric Toric - 4 on a D6. I'm using rolz.org but not sure if there's a facility to link to an actual roll. Anybody else know of a online roller where you can copy/paste link?

Does 4 mean 1/2 damage? And do I get a divide of H/2 for my padded costume? I'll adjust HTK/HTC once I know. As to what to do next...

Yep, the 4 means Glancing Blow which halves the damage done. And good catch, I had forgotten about the divider of 2 for HTK for padded costume. This does not apply to HTC though, only HTK. So after the divider for padded costume and for the glancing blow after the dodge, Farouk takes a total of 3 HTC and 3 HTK. He loses 1 frame so has 3 to use this round.

EDIT: And don't worry about linking rolls unless you really want to. I'm trusting everyone to report their rolls honestly.

Dumarest Dumarest - I have edited the IC combat post to reflect the successful Dodge and the half damage Double Devil took.

I should be able to get the next round up tomorrow.

Gringnr Gringnr - Starchild is close enough to reach either B5 or the leader in one frame of action which leaves him with three frames for attacking.

Bunch Bunch - Red Trident can find a way into the building from the roof and using all four of his frames, he will reach the combat on the second floor for the beginning of next round.

Starchild will attack the leader, with the thinking that "if you killed the head, the body dies".

Frame 1- close the gap to the leader

Frame 2- remove Asteroid belt from waist.

Frames 3&4- Strike leader with Asteroid Belt (whip). I think a whip takes 2 frames to use? But if time allows, I will attempt to grapple the leader with the Asteroid Belt, so that I can use its "Stunner" effect...

Edit: I rolled a 6...

Dumarest Dumarest - I don't know if Nicolette knows Tony is Double Devil. From the background you wrote up, it doesn't say. I'm assuming she doesn't know, but if that is incorrect, let me know. If she doesn't know, he just spots her among the freed hostages. If she does know, her reaction will be a bit different.

Bunch Bunch, Tulpa Girl Tulpa Girl, Gringnr Gringnr, and Longfingers Longfingers - Feel free to ham it up for the station manager, talk of your character's prowess, offer names, etc. Whatever you all feel like telling him. If you don't tell him anything, that is fine too, just indicate that your character isn't forthcoming with their hero name or whatever. Depending on what you say, some of your campaign ratings could go up or down. In fact, there will likely be some changes to campaign ratings just due to the fact that this battle was witnessed by so many members of the public (police, media, other assorted civilians).

And of course if anyone wants to do anything besides talk to Michael, such as maybe questioning the one still conscious bad guy before he is removed from the building, feel free.

Tony's double identity is a well-kept secret thanks to his Replication power allowing him to appear in two places at once, thus allaying any suspicions someone might have. Tony seldom uses his Replication power when fighting crime, preferring to keep it as an ace-in-the-hole and last-resort surprise.

I should have made it clearer that nobody knows.

Any thoughts or preferences on formally getting the band together, preferably somewhere away from prying eyes and ears where we can speak somewhat freely?

Well, the TV station is swarming with cops and station employees so anywhere on the premises is out of the question for privacy. Would have to be somewhere else if you wanted to talk without prying eyes and ears. Of course, DD is outside and everyone else is inside at the moment too.

On a mostly unrelated note, are there any major sports teams in New Hope? Also, what's the mascot/symbol for the University and City College?

All four major sports are represented (baseball, football, basketball and hockey) in New Hope. The New Hope Beacons are the baseball team. The New Hope Minutemen are the basketball team. The New Hope Blades are the hockey team. And the New Hope Marauders are the football team.

New Hope University mascot is the muskrat. City College is the porcupine.

Okay, this is my thought for what Gravitas would suggest to meet up later that evening. Toric Toric tell me if this is workable or if I'm overstepping my bounds here.

In the Highlands just opposite of City Center, not too far from the transit line, there's a stretch of land that was up until recently an older apartment complex, built back in the late 60's. KPM purchased the property, and after giving the residents the customary 2-month notice, tore down the older buildings with the plan of redesigning the area as a residential subdivision.

Currently the land is mostly empty lots, with the frames of a few houses-to-be here and there. The only completed building is the 'model' house used to show prospective buyers. Courtney Grayken knows the numeric code that will open the key storage box that holds the key to the model unit. Occasionally a contracted security firm will drive through the area, but not often enough to prevent a brief meeting remaining unnoticed. Especially with it being a Saturday night, especially if there is, perhaps, a home game for the Beacons and perhaps also a big-name concert in town.

That all works just fine for me.

I'll wait a day or so to see if anyone else has a suggestion that's a little more urban and sexy, as opposed to what essentially amounts to meeting up in the suburbs.

And also maybe something that technically isn't a B&E?

"Hmm," thinks Double Devil®, "that essentially sounds like meeting up in the suburbs. Too bad it's no place a little more urban and sexy."

Happy weekend everyone! I will be back later this evening to post in the IC thread and move the action to the dojo for your powwow. If anyone has anything else they want to do beforehand, feel free. Otherwise, I'll move things along then.

I will post later today (Saturday) in the IC thread to move things forward.

Alright, we've reached that point in a PbP game where some players have expressed an intention for one course of action, while another has suggested an alternative. Around the face to face gaming table, this gets sorted out in a few minutes (unless the group is really in disagreement, and then it could take longer). In PbP, it can take much longer as it is more difficult for the group to discuss and present arguments for and against, etc.

So my suggestion is that you all ( Bunch Bunch, Dumarest Dumarest, Gringnr Gringnr, Tulpa Girl Tulpa Girl and Longfingers Longfingers) discuss here in this thread the pros and cons of whatever course of action or actions are on the table. It can be handled in an OOC manner here, as players around a virtual table trying to figure out how you all want to proceed. Then once you've all reached a consensus, you can each post a single post or two in the IC thread representing the narrative and what your character discussed and has decided to do based on what was discussed here. That way the IC doesn't contain a long series of posts of small significance as each of you discusses the plan, or even worse, that everyone falls silent, paralyzed by several suggested courses of action but not willing to proceed.

For example, here you might argue for Plan A, but ultimately might decide on Plan B. Then in the IC thread, a simple post pushing the narrative that your character was a fan of Plan A but reluctantly settled for Plan B or something to that effect keeps the IC thread cleaner. Feel free to post your characters thoughts, feelings, dialogue, etc. related to this in the IC thread but use this thread for the potential back and forth between the players that happens in any normal face to face game when there is discussion of what to do.

NONE of this is to say you can't continue posting IC. I encourage you to do so. But if you feel you want to make a point as a player in a game about the events occurring in said game, that can be done here. I just wanted to make sure you all felt comfortable using both the IC and this OOC thread to discuss the happenings in the game. I want to make sure we don't grind to a halt due to INDECISION.

As of this moment, two character have suggested heading straight for the park for a showdown with hero turned villain Devastator, while another has suggested a more cautious approach, and an investigation into the missing weapons shipment and the bikers. Two others have yet to voice an opinion. I will push things forward once I have a consensus from you all. Of course, if discussions stall for too long and multiple real-time days pass, I will move things forward based on what the majority seemed to want to do.

I have no strong desire to split the group I just wanted to point out that option if others missed the possibility this is all a hoax with Devastator. I'll go with the group.

Yep, I figured you weren't looking to split the group and were just offering an alternative avenue, which is why I posted my previous message to encourage you all to discuss here as players what you wanted to do. And what I said above applies to ALL game situations, not just this one. If you all feel you need to discuss something as players before formulating your responses in-character, feel free to use the OOC thread. If it is a situation and conversation that you believe can be handled entirely IC, that's fine too.

I'd rather we not split the party (does that *ever* end well?). To my mind, Devastator takes precedence, we can deal with the bikers later.

Works for me. Splitting the party can be more manageable in play by post games than in others but it still has issues.

Yes, logistically splitting the party in PbP games is easy. Spoilers or two separate posts work just fine. If you guys want to split up, we can handle that no problem.

The only issues are if your split up characters run into danger they are unprepared for in smaller numbers. In D&D, this can be deadly. In a superhero game, it is probably less so, but could still be dangerous depending on the situation.

But it is entirely up to you guys. Superheroes sometimes split up in the comics, so if you feel that is the best option in a certain situation, including the current one, we can roll with that. If you opt to stay together and deal with one problem at a time, that's cool too.

So far, it seems like there is a leaning towards dealing with Devastator, but not everyone has posted yet. I will wait a bit to give everyone time to chime in before moving forward.

Folks
I think I'm going to have to sit this one out. Work has ramped up recently and out of nowhere I find myself running a weekly game and now being asked to prep another one to start in a couple of months. Every day I open the the IC thread, struggle to think of something useful to contribute, and close it down again. Rather than have you waiting on me to post, I'll put The Genie back in his lamp for now.

I was that way for a while too. Hope to see you back soon.

Sorry to see you go, Longfingers Longfingers. The Genie had an interesting backstory and would have been cool to explore over time.

I'm on vacation from work this week and had expected to have more time to post but have been busy with the family. Sorry for the delay. I will get a new IC post up later today or tomorrow.

Take yo time breh. Real life happens.

I may or may not be less available coming up. If it is likely to interfere with the game (and it shouldn't be, I usually check in a few times a day). We'll see. I'm not the most active here, but hopefully I'm pulling my weight. Anyway, no one's asked but my wife was just diagnosed with inoperable stage IV cancer. She will be starting chemo immediately. Obviously, everything else (besides our son) just took a big backseat. Sorry for the overshare, but that's what's up in my world atm.
