Savage Worlds - Tests of Will

Actually, the design goal of the new system was to have roughly the same experience as before (which the math and experience indicated) but with less hassle. Without trying to sound like a marketing drone, I think SWADE might be pretty damn tight.

Savage Worlds - Tests of Will

They have been made more generic. In SWEX it was just Taunt and Intimidate, but in SWADE it's all Tests, and can be any skill at all, and opposed by the attribute that skill is based on. I've found that makes them more usable, and more often used, as they became a more generic tool. They also...

Savage Worlds - Tests of Will

SW is a fine machine, and you can freely let people do those kinds of things without worry. In a game with bennies, you should not think about "abuse". In practical experience? Yes, it does crop up, and makes a combat slog something more interesting. I have not thought of it as Create...

    Rolemaster

Up until Against the Darkmaster I had thought of Rolemaster as dead and forgotten, mismanaged and not well handled. As I started with MERP and RM it felt quite sad to realize it had come to that. RMU I have given up on, totally. I think it will be very interesting to see what comes from AtD.

    Podcast Reccomendations

I have listened to Happy Jacks RPG Podcast for many years now, and I think as far as advice show I think it's one of the best. It was funnier before, but is still good. Lately I have started to follow Savage Interludes which although focused on Savage Worlds is very good on general advice on...

    Espionage and Modern-Day Action RPGs

That was clearly me reading sloppily. Sorry for that @chuckdee ! Yes, Operators was what you were talking about. I got on that since the feel of Fate is something that some people have a very strong reaction against, and I think Ghost Ops will feel very different in play from that experience...

    Espionage and Modern-Day Action RPGs

This really is an overlooked genre. I have played Top Secret/S.I. and had great fun, but now I'm most keen on trying Ghost Ops that was mentioned up thread. A small correction about that, though. It's not based on Fate, it's based on Fudge. Fudge was the basis on which Fate was built. Ghost Ops...

    Layout and design how-to's

I've found you can get surprisingly good results, regardless of the tools, if you have a clear design with some idea of how to get information across. If you use many different fonts on a page, it will look messy. Headers are supposed to stand out, so there it's ok. If you have (coloured)...

And that gesture is very much appreciated! :shade:

Forbidden Lands – Does It Live Up To The Hype?

I have run it quite a bit and think the survival parts and exploration parts work quite well. It's a neat system, quite well packaged. Personally I kind of felt the same as the OP about the back history and the setting really didn't do much for me. I also did like the goblin/halfling kin and the...

    Layout and design how-to's

Well, if I am going to pay money for my software, and that is regardless of the amount, I only pay for something that's built to work on my system. Using work arounds does not cut it. Also, read to the end of that thread and you'll see it does not work any longer.

    Layout and design how-to's

As Affinity Publisher does not provide a Linux version, I'm using Scribus. It has its issues, and after doing a bunch of novels with it, I have found work arounds for most of those issues. I would say though, try to keep your documents small. It becomes very slow with hundreds of pages.

    Magic World: Hail and Farewell

Cull the conspiracy theories. There are solid business reasons for most actions at Chaosium these days. MW sold terribly bad, and while a trickle of money from the pdf sales might be nice, you also get constant questions about the line, someone has a problem downloading a file and so on. Yadda...

    Kickstarters Thread

I just put in a few bits into this campaign for Ghost Ops: Second Strike which is a covert ops game for those that fancy running around with assault rifles in your rpg adventures. It might be something someone around here also could be interested in.
