Oh no, that was not what I was implying.
That's what I find more plausible.
An ability check is one of the oldest mechanics of RPGs.
Using them straight for initiative was an idea that was just lying around.
Sovereign Stone (the original one, not d20) had only the skill roll - in combat usually a weapon attack but other rolls like magic or movement like "getting to the door first" were possible as well).
High roller went first.
The low roller could either abort and parry (doing a re-roll with hopes...
I have never heard of that series.
But it seems all episodes are on YouTube? Even the unaired ones???

Well... to be honest, a customer? Most probably yes. A player? Most probably no.
Considering that I rate Vance's Lyonesse as one of the best fantasy epics out there I obviously need to buy the game. But since the book includes rules I won't need to buy Mythras proper.
I used to GM a houseruled...
He must be "one of us". Publishing a tie-in RPG and giving it away for free is not something a normal comic book writer would do. Especially if it's done so low-key that it doesn't even count as marketing.
I have been away from the internet for the past one, two years. Only now, being sheltered at home and all, am I trying to catching up with RPG forums. (What did I miss?)
And oh boy, does coming here feel like coming home, with all those familiar names that I remember from ... another time and...

Dragon often had thematic reviews - "horror games" or "sf games", not just new games. So say, Alternity Dark*Matter would be contrasted vs. Call of Cthulhu or...
And if you want to use some funds for slickness it's even against the spirit (and rules) of this Kickstarter:
So some current OSR zines would not even qualify:
Wormskin (color interior, perfect binding)
Nod (wrong format, color cover, perfect binding)
Even older (sadly defunct) OSR zines...
Aaaand ... it's financed!
The fact that it took so long (3 of the 5 weeks) proves that the OSR is almost non-existent in Germany! now I hope that we can unlock a few stretchgoals. It wouldn't be a Basic Set without a solo adventure.
(Every generation needs its traumatic Aleena experience...)
Take this with a grain of salt, it's been a long time since I played it (and I don't have access to my rule book atm) but BESM also had an interesting mechanism for summoning or rather building demons (or spells, or companions, or pets, or mecha): You would spend character points at creation, to...
N5 Under Illefarn, one of the best intro modules that ever appeared for a new campaign setting.
It was a bit like Keep on the Borderlands, with a small keep/town as a base of operations, but this time fully integrated in a setting. Lots of descriptions of local movers and shakers, and a dungeon...
