I’ve been running a campaign of a French role-playing game set in 1900s Paris [https://rpggeek.com/rpg/78144/malefices-4eme-edition] since February, and honestly I think it’s one of the best campaigns I’ve ever run.
This has always fascinated me. In Imperial China, people would wear all sorts of hats or at least keep their hair in a knot and it was the epitome of faux pas to show one's hair.
(which is also why the Chinese resented the imposition of the pigtail by the Manchus so much)
My favourite “monsters” are Gloranthan trolls because it’s incredible how Greg Stafford and Sandy Petersen managed to create a believable nonhuman culture out of these brutish creatures.
Oh, I use this all the time. The players would tell me “OK we ask the guy...” and I’d answer “You don’t speak his language and he doesn’t speak yours”.
For Gloranthan fans only: There’s a part when Miguel O’Hara shows the tragedies of Spider-Man’s life/lives as being interconnected via an actual spider’s web. Did you have that “Arachne Solara!!!” moment?
I have been banned from RPG.net for a ludicrous reason (read for yourselves: http://mergezett.blogspot.com/2023/05/permanently-banned-from-big-purple.html)... Has anybody else experienced that?
We are running a donation drive this month to help offset the costs of running the Pub and to avoid running intrusive ads in the future. If you would like to help out please visit this thread for more details. Thank you!
