I had not one but two awesome things happen in the past 2 days. First I got nominated for an ENNIE for best monster book (Twilight Fables), and yesterday I got to spend the afternoon with Rose Estes.

The book was written by someone (Dave Johnson) who repeatedly shared neo-nazi memes, and "edited" by another (Justin) who referred to black people as "porch monkeys." What did you expect? That's...way beyond the purview of any sensitivity reader.

Twilight Fables is just over halfway done. 630% funded so far. To quote someone "the digital level is...well...a steal actually." And as of a few days ago, there is an option for an OSR converted version. Possibly the best thing is that it's done. So there's no risk of Far West going on here...

My experience is the complete opposite. Artists work for tons of clients (or they wouldn't survive as an artist). I've never met a single one that acts as you describe. At this point, I'm really wondering who you're hiring.

Watabou has several free resources if you don't mind generated maps. I used to use Campaign Cartographer for years, but I find it too clunky now. Now I either use photoshop and just draw them, or I use Inkarnate. While there is a free version, the pay version is pretty cheap.
