To me, Clifford Simak is one of the greatest SF writers ever. Glad to see him mentioned here.

    Star Trek random thoughts

Wished I could remember the source, but many, many years ago I read that Gene Roddenberry had based the Klingons on the Imperial Japanese of WWII. That has always made sense to me as Roddenberry served in WWII.

What is wrong with Modiphius' 2d20 system?

I don't mind metacurrency too much, but I think in Star Trek Adventures it's a wee bit broken and needs tweaking. The fact that a PC can choose to roll for success on a task that is 0 difficulty just to try to get momentum is just crazy. I'm also not a fan of how vague the character stats/skills...

    Suggestions for "low stress/violence" Television

I agree with this. Go back and look at older TV shows. Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, My Favorite Martian, etc.

    Star Trek random thoughts

This. I remember standing in a huge line waiting to see it. At minimum it was a love letter to Star Trek fans. Like finarvyn, I'm still in awe watching certain scenes, especially the (rather long) drydock scene.

What are these weird-ass dice from?

Great thread idea! Here's one that came in a used copy of Star Trek The Role Playing game that I bought on eBay. It's a d20 and I've never seen one quite like it. Any ideas?
