Golden Cathedral (There are lots of great photos, search them). It, or something like it, is where I would start a D'Ni or Unwritten chronicle
(Yes, some of my work is in the Library )

Okay, this is a cool set of buildings Vienna Gasometeres .... the modern conversion are cool... however, this image is posed to give GMs something to think about/ remember (especially if they are playing gaslight fantasy, steampunk, early urban fantasy, and a 163X campaign ( this is the game, but I would use a different system) ). Coal Gas is a powerful driver of lighting, heat, and early to middle industrialization. Gas Holders are a feature of gas use, buildings used to hold gas before pipe distribution. (They are usually roundish with a sealed roof and a central bladder with a weight over the top.) Now, these could make an interesting addition to a fantasy or early historical world. (You could make similar things holding mana for more magitech uses.)

If you went cyberpunk, solarpunk, or modern urban fantasy, these are just cool buildings. They are currently refurbished to hold apartments, shopping, and offices. In a cyberpunk/ solar punk setting, they would be easily resealed and become mini-arcologies. Thus it would be an interesting setting for a set of scenes OR a neighborhood scaled game.

Okay. So don't know if it is real or great CGI. Google Translate sort of failed me. But what did translate implied that it is a real mountain of fire in July. Unclear if the sounds are real or not.

Very cool no matter what....

YES it is CGI, augmenting a cool image...

My players are always asking me for very specific descriptions of the forests and jungles their characters go through, often for strategic reasons (though not always combat related). How far apart the trees are, how sloped the ground is, etc. I don't mind going into a lot of detail, but I find that a picture is often more effective in some cases, so now I keep a folder of outside scenes on my laptop that I can show them. This thread is a great source for new pictures.

The reality of these is fascinating. They're not homes, but wine grottoes used in the stomping of grapes and fermentation. Doesn't exactly look sanitary, but I guess the alcohol kills any bugs.

Directions there look like a stone bitch. Oh, my place? Sure, take the first left, then two rights, then another left, then a wobbly bit past a rock, then another two lefts - mine's the unmarked wooden door....
Sounds like trying to find a house in the old, slopes regions of Nagasaki. I don't know how the postal workers do their work their.

Beautiful Picture

Well scratch another off the pile. It is a good thing I found some today.

The Image wanted me to make a gothic semi-horror, semi-suburban fantasy, almost of the Dark Shadows variety. A clan is cursed. A few of the inner core live in the castle (technically a manor now), with some who have been scattered (or lost who have been drawn here) coming in.

The Clan must deal with their individual curses You are shadowed (made a monster of sorts), yet to redeem your souls held by the Demon Avant... you will cut (fight/hunt) the shadows who are drawn to your darkholde - the well of negative power under the castle).
