I have enough trouble with what mine means in English. A cousin of mine got described as “aptly named” for signing the staff recommendation for the bombing of Dresden.
I’m referring to Air Chief Marshal Sir Douglas Evill, who was vice-chief of the Air Staff (actually chief of staff of the RAF, the “Chief of the Air Staff” was commanding officer, not actually chief of staff) from 1942–46.
