  • What do you do when a player starts moping when her PC gets taken out, but denies that she'd want you to fudge? (Not that I actually would).

@TheophilusCarter I disagree. The problem wasn't the battle itself, it seems. She's just kinda depressed.

I'd just prepare something cool for her character to do next time; perhaps a plothook linked to her past or something like that.

Not a bad idea, though I generally add such elements left, front and center. For all characters.
Still, a bit of special pandering might be in order, given the OOC reason.
Still running S&S with Flashing Blades. No fights to speak of last session. The players advanced a stat for the first time!
Business went as planned today!!! And last night, I actually scared a player running CoC!

Just to make sure everyone is clear on that: the two events weren't related!

I want details. About how you scared the player that is. You are welcome to share details about your business dealing too, but I will probably not read them with the same level of enthusiasm.

So: I'm not sure how it worked. I ran the "official" Quick-Start, pretty much by the module...I assume it was the "slow burn" and uncovering evidence of people murdered or driven insane. Well past midnight IRL, because that's what I mean by "late-night session".
My business plans didn't go quite as I expected. That sucks.

    Can you talk about it?

Yeah, but it's not RPG-related. I just had an appointment which should have culminated in me becoming some guys' landlord. They cancelled it about 3 hours before the time came.
Can't believe so few people want to share the inherent problems facing a comics book publisher. And yet... https://bit.ly/2M6DyFB

I've thought about it, but I can't apply it to the setting. I mean, most of my problems are flaky artists, lettering software being unwieldy and intimidating, or print specs not coming out right.

You know, man, that list actually works for me. If you could tell me more about the publishing on your side, I can apply it to the setting. But I can't apply it if I have no frame of reference (for example, the third part).
Just realized that I am going to replace BASH with another system for my campaign...the question is, Flashing Blades, or Two-Fisted Tales?
Daughter liked her first game.Well, at least she says so... kids are too polite sometimes!

OK, it seems she's got into it. She came to request another session while I was asleep...
As a bonus, I get to play! The wife is running it!
Thinking of giving my daughter her first RPG book...Sorcerers of Ur-Turuk, maybe?

Do look into BtW. It’s got lifepath chargen and formulaic (but very effective) scenarios.

I've got BtW (both editions, IIRC). The lifepaths are great, and I like how they're splitting magic into spells/cantrips/rituals:smile:.
It's just that the close combat system, without mincing the words, sucks. She'd never expect her dad to run a game with a similar feature:tongue:!

Maybe I could adapt the BtW lifepaths to Mercator/Traveller or Mythras, though! In fact, I think that would be exceedingly easy, and might even help her learning some arithmetics:evil:!
    Or maybe Zenobia?
Of course, the easiest would be to run Camp Cretacean, which is custom-made for kids:grin:!
