Destined shares DNA with classic BRP games, but it's based on Mythras so there are many differences. Character building is different, defining your hero's culture and career as well as background events and Passions that define them. There is also a quick creation option if you want to get into...
My house rule for general hit points was always take the highest HP value (chest) and add the lowest (arms). It's quick and usually produces a good result. As Raleel pointed out you would need to tweak some powers but it could work.
Whoa... Lot of questions. LOL
It is geared for street level and mid tier superheroes. You can make any hero you want as long as you are not planning on tossing small moons around. I made a servicable version of Thor and one playtested made a Dr. Strange analog that worked quite well.
If people...
Mythras can do anything, but I am biased.
I'm Mike, one of the authors, and glad to see the interest! If you have any questions about the game please ask and I will respond when I can.
In the most recent issue of Batman Lex drank a single glass of a 20 million dollar bottle of wine and poured the rest on the floor just to show he is far richer than Bruce Wayne. I respect that level of smug villainy.
I'm going by the Superman the Animated Series version. He was still very potent, but the creators depowered him as compared to the comics. The comics version could push around planets, but in the cartoons he never displayed that level of strength as far as I recall. There were episodes where he...
Some context for that last post is probably in order. In the book's setting most people in the city use an app called Citizens Observe and Protect to report criminal activity, point out strange events, or alert emergency services to a situation. Superheroes also use the app to find people in...
Oddly the Netflix Daredevil show, specifically the hallway fight, was what got me thinking about Mythras and superheroes. It would do the street level stories in those shows pretty well, and a lot of our playtests were more street level stories. Just remember the cover and evade mechanics when...
While the included setting and the general flavor is superheroes, the game was designed to be used for any setting where you could have powers. In the GM section we talk about using it for epic fantasy, a gritty sci fi game where genetically modified soldiers battle a hopeless war against...
It the concession we make as gamers. How many times have we been clubbed by giants, immolated by dragons, and blasted by blasters while still managing to make to the next fight relatively unscathed? Comics are rife with examples of mismatched fights where the person who should leave their foe a...
Right now we are not covering the highest levels of heroes such as Superman, Thor, and the Hulk. It may be a topic we explore later on. The highest power level at this point could easily make someone like Spider-man, Green Lantern or Iron Man. So it will still cover a vast majority of comic book...
Honestly the reason I even considered Mythras came from season 1 of the Netflix Daredevil series. Watching the fights and the character work, I started thinking about street-level heroes in the game and that evolved into more. It's surprising to me how well Mythras fits not only gritty, low...
The book is still Mythras, and the goal is to make it a toolbox to do whatever type of game you want within the rules you already enjoy. I don't want people to feel like they are forced into certain types of games, and they should have the freedom to use what we present in whatever manner gives...
I’m very happy to announce that Elevation has been released!
Into the Unknown
Elevation was a proud organisation of brave explorers, seeking new worlds and alien species.
Now, 40 years later, its founder has been lost in space. Funds dwindle, outdated equipment falls apart and Elevation’s...
