    The Pet Thread!

Sorry dbm. We've lost several fur gods over the years and its been the same story. Cat fine, cat sick, cat dead (often next day). In many ways, that sudden movement between "I'm All Good" and "Rainbow Bridge" is a blessing as nobody wants their beloveds to suffer. I've been "that guy" furious...

    Kingdom Death

My friends who play KD have only great things to say about the gameplay. I'm always impressed by the stories that apparently are generated out of the random events. I'm surprised we haven't seen a RPG come out of it.

Never played Deadlands: Lost Colony. Any fans here? Interested in hearing about the setting and actual play experience.

(NSFW- no really NSFW) B/X Mars

What exactly put your game in the adults only zone? I don't want to name names (cuz I know the authors), but I know there's some boob art in the regular RPG section. Does Mars B/X have schlongs? Sex act art? Loads of da boobies?

Will DTRPG stick you in the "Adults Only" forbidden zone if your art has da boobies? I also highly recommend also offering the book POD via Amazon so people can get your game via Prime with new socks and toilet paper. Kindle Direct Publishing program - check it out https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/

    The "sweet spot" for Sci-Fantasy?

Agreed. It's rare to get art that so wildly embraces fantasy, but with utter seriousness. Waste World uses a D20, but not the D20 system. https://rpggeek.com/rpg/2772/waste-world https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/13/13937.phtml https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/classic/rev_1024.phtml...

    The "sweet spot" for Sci-Fantasy?

Is the game done? If so, provide linkage! If not, what's your timetable to a playtest draft?

    The "sweet spot" for Sci-Fantasy?

Gamma World!! Here's why. There are two great editions - the first one and the last one. The last one was built on D&D 4e by WotC. It's imperfect, but it is a great hybrid RPG / skirmish boardgame. If I want post-apoc fantasy with minis and 5x5 squares, its perfect because chargen is quick...

(NSFW- no really NSFW) B/X Mars

Aos, we've waited years for your work. Waiting another month or even six months is fine so you put out the B/X Mars you want. Also, it will give you more time to plan your marketing strategy. I'll PM you with some thoughts on free/low cost marketing this week.

Please put marketing effort into promoting this. It look fun, unique and challenging. Also, the black and white art is stark, powerful and stands out when most Kickstarters are selling coffee table art books instead of games. I see a real market for something like this, not just within the...

    The Pet Thread!

My forum pic is Sean. He's a purebred Siamese "apple head", the original Thai cats before they were bred into the current version. He's a rescue. I was signed up for emails from the local pound and late Friday night I got this notice of all the available pets plus the new pets who just came in...

    New Member Introductions

Black Morn Manor is an underrated game that deserves a new edition. It's really excellent, but the original was made so cheaply compared to today's luxury boardgame production standards.

I Might Have Fucked Up My WFRP!

I love the concept for this campaign. It's great stuff. However, I see the problem with the campaign revolving around the witch. I also agree with the problem of the PCs having no ties to each other. If I want disparate PCs to work together, I make sure either the players or myself create...

Principia Apocrypha: Principles of Old School RPGs

The attempts to control the OSR are pretty laughable. I'd much rather herd cats. Yes, I know that those who change the definitions do so to control the conversation. That nonsense isn't new in any arena. But I see no victory for them here. I half agree with you. Traditional RPGs are in...

Principia Apocrypha: Principles of Old School RPGs

Marketing. Defining the OSR isn't meaningful for your home games, but if you are trying to sell products, you need a community gathered around a defined concept. That's the value of the OSR brand.

Principia Apocrypha: Principles of Old School RPGs

The revisionist history obsession in the OSR is truly laughable, and its not just the young ones. Plenty of old timers demand that their experience must have been universal - especially those who only played with one group. However, once you get past the wimpfest intro, it's a decent primer...

    Best Out-of-Print Games?

And Rick Loomis is a good dude. Always nice to interact with him at conventions, and he's played in several of my T&T events over the years as long as I book them after the dealer's room closes. That's always fun.

If you had to choose one edition of D&D....

OD&D because I can built whatever I want upon the skeleton. I can tailor campaigns with such ease. I don't play OD&D RAW (never have), but the extremely basic chassis and that pure original energy is what draws me.
