    Real Life and What's Happening...

Just finished a nice holiday only for the cam belt to go 40 miles from home. Currently sat in the ferry terminal trying to think how I'm going to get home and ignoring the fact I have no idea how my stricken car is getting over the water.

How did you end up here?

    Bloody centrists!

    The SLAPCHOP painting method.

I didn't know the details, only heard snippets and gleaned something of the incident from YouTube video titles.

    Banned from RPG.net

Mate, there's more than a few of us who copped bans at TBP for bullshit reasons. Better to accept the place is run by bullies and narcissists and move on. Plus this place is much more chill. Oh yeah, and welcome to the pub.

    The SLAPCHOP painting method.

I started with the original 'Eavy Metal technique, white undercoat, base colours, wash, highlight and details. So my miniatures never got finished. Dip got stuff done. But walnut wood stain is good for warm, natural colours (greens, browns etc) and less good for cold or artificial hues...

    The SLAPCHOP painting method.

There is some suspicion that the reactivation issue was over-egged by a YouTuber who just so happened to be invested in a competitors speed paints.

I matt varnish everything. No worries so far.

    The SLAPCHOP painting method.

I've used it loads to good effect. A quick and effective way to get a good looking mini. However, the finished minutes tend towards a darker finish, not great if you prefer brighter models. Also it's not great for flesh - again being too dark IMO. Still,I prefer the effect to zenithal...

    Grim Dark Future. General discussion.

So what we need to identify is what makes these particular settings evocative and roll from there. Is there a name for the melding swords and sorcery with far future, post apocalyptic Earth?

Have you thought of filing the serial numbers off of Moorcock's 'Hawkmoon'?

    Grim Dark Future. General discussion.

These are my Thunder Warriors for GDF - all 3d printed (whole army probably costs £10 in resin and PLA). I love the background to the Thunder Warriors, especially the whole 'burns twice as bright' schtick. This is what should have been introduced instead of Primaris.

The first Moderation Discussion thread of 2023

I think every mod action should be explained in three page thread which highlights: - why the action was taken. - why it's a personal and moral failing of the perpetrator - how the poster should have known better - a vague admonishment telling the poster to learn from their mistakes and, - a...

    Ignore/Hide a Thread??

You say 50/50. Is this some kind of Antipodean maths what the first 50 is theoretical and the rest is scotch?

    Grim Dark Future. General discussion.

My friends and I (after much badgering by me) have started playing One Page Rules 40k clone homage, Grim Dark Future. For someone as rules and maths phobic as me, it's a revelation. It was the first wargame I've played in years that managed to evoke those tentative first games of orginal 40k...

    The Pub is Six!

I've only been posting here since 2021 but its been the most fun I've had online. I say fun, I've enjoyed it. I say enjoyed. Its been tolerable. Tolerable's a bit strong. Endured is better. Ok, I'm stuck here. Trapped by my addiction to memes and shitposting and too scared of our Geese...

The Big Generation X Nostalgia Thread

It's clear to me that Jetstream had no right to be polluting this thread with his Millennial hipster nonsense! I demand the mods do something so I can feel validated!! The next thing you know this thread will be full of stuff from the 2010s and people calling us boomers!!!

The Big Generation X Nostalgia Thread

The above post got me thinking...at what point did film/television/music become Millenial? What was the Last Gen X sitcom, genre show, film or album?

    What are you watching?

Freevee, Plex and their ilk are giving me the chance to catch up on the shows I missed first time round, or never got to see in their entirety.. I've currently got Magnum, Miami Vice, Dukes of Hazzard, Hunter and Farscape on rotation. I particularly like the writing on Miami Vice though the...
