This kind of buyer’s remorse I get. In response to the explosion of Mork Borg products, some people seem to have responded with an exploding spending spree which I can see overwhelming the substance of the game that supports it. That sort of speaks as much to how people seem to consume these...
For sure. No RPG is for everyone.
I think attributing everything to it being an open licence is pretty dismissive. Mork Borg has had an obvious success - commercially, critically and as a source of inspiration for others.
I am not sure either of these are a bad thing though necessarily though. It’s great that we get variety in RPGs. We have plenty of serious fleshed out RPGs and ones that don’t have the aesthetic flair of Mork Borg. So having one swing the way is pretty cool.
Whatever Mork Borg is actually doing...
OSE is pretty much B/X D&D with a modern skin. So it compatible with B/X D&D modules with no conversion. OSE is as compatible with AD&D as B/X D&D is. IME there is a little work but it’s manageable.
I get the impression is that most of the collecting of VHS is about the big chunky cases, which have their own distinct aesthetic appeal. Several nostalgia marketed DVDs and Blu Rays even used VHS cases as a selling point.
Nice to hear that you enjoyed this. It got some scathing reviews early on and I haven't relooked at it, despite being interested in it initially. I may need to revisit it if I get the chance.
Yep, me too. I buy digital too but if I really like it and will likely return to it over time, I will buy a physical copy. Same with movies and RPGs.
I do tend to have some pretty specific and sometimes obscure tastes. I can’t count the times when I have gone to listen, watch, or play...
I wonder if this means Modiphius will reinstate GMS’s name in books they promised that he was not allowed to work on until Far West was released but they let him anyway provided he went uncredited.
My Brancalonia books turned up, just in time for KS #3. The mechanics may be all over the place but goddam does the setting and adventure material resonate with how I play most of my D&D these days.
I have recently undertaken a couple of years of culling. It was actually a fun process. My wife and I selected 1 game a month that wasn’t getting regular table play and decided whether to keep it or not after 2-3 plays. We managed to get rid of around 15 games that were obscuring other (better)...
Cool. At least that answers your original question, in that for most people the minis will be all entirely new. I assume you may have got a misprinted copy or that they are just now adding the new sculpts to the recent reprints of that box.
I have watched a few unboxing videos for the Alien Warriors mini expansion and none of them show the new Alien types that come in come in the new expansion. Kind of intrigued to find out where you got yours.
