I feel old. I'm a zillennial with ~2/3rds of my life still ahead of me and I feel old. I remember the days of dialup, geocities, gamespy, neopets, and more. I'm wistful whenever I see dead links and abandonware. I'm in awe and existential dread of how technology advances at an accelerating rate...
I’ve gotten flak for using old editions and new editions. I’ve left fandoms due to edition wars. It’s so asinine and sucks out the fun. It’s killed my passion for ttrpgs.
Copyright is ridiculously long and needs to be shortened to 20 years or so. I want to snatch up TSR's dead IPs and revive them. As well as a bunch of other dead ttrpg IPs.
I think English spelling needs reforming so that spelling reflects pronunciation. This would reduce the need for spellcheckers in the first place. Most of the reason for poor spelling is because spelling hasn’t been reformed since English received standardized spelling centuries ago.
My noxious mood makes me hyperbolic.
A bunch of my fav artists nuked their galleries in response to being scraped and now their artwork is just gone. Future generations are impoverished. It’s like they don’t want their work to be preserved and appreciated decades or centuries from now.
There are loads of articles popping up when I google "ai making humans stupid". Here's one: https://worldcrunch.com/tech-science/artificial-intelligence-makes-humans-stupid
I'm sorry for my noxious mood. My frustration and existential angst has been unusually high this week.
Exactly. “AI” is just a stochastic parrot. It’s not intelligent and cannot compensate for the increasing human incompetence. It just exacerbates existing problems.
I watched an lp for an AI art game called Zarathustra, and the production value was so painfully amateur. The city map was...
AI is making humanity stupid, uncreative, and easy to enslave. It is starving real creatives so that consumer zombies can plaster their social media with soulless content farming and the vampiric rich can continue sucking us dry. This is all well documented and accepted science at this point...
Sorcerous Paths and the Initiatory Adventure (Optional)
Once a sorcerer masters Ritual Magic, he cannot learn High Magic until he completes the Initiatory Adventure. To begin the Initiatory Adventure the sorcerer must select a Sorcerous Path, which may be chosen as soon as the sorcerer learns...
Second Circle Sorcery Spells
All Second Circle spells are cast as rituals using the Ritual Magic Technique. Targets beyond visual range may be affected using a magical connection, although in many cases the effects are more powerful if the target is present in the ritual space.
Universal Spells...
How much of these books did you read? That comparison is so ridiculously absurd that I honestly can’t believe you read anything beyond a schizophrenic Wikipedia “summary”. Invisible War was written in the late 80s inspired by Highlander and Doctor Who.
I bought the books to read for myself or...
There were other settings that tried to do urban fantasy, but they all died. While I don't know how you define a ripoff, I personally think none of them were ripoffs aside from that godawful Vampire: Undeath (and even then that had like one or two interesting ideas buried within). Nightlife...
Indeed? I think this will finally kill the franchise. No great loss there. I see it as an opportunity for new creators to make their own original IPs. At least I would hope indie devs would take the opportunity, but I don't hold my breath.
I'm not converting anything. I'm writing a spiritual successor that I release into the public domain so that I and fans can hypothetically sell for profit without risking litigation. This necessitates making a number of changes to the setting to avoid copyright infringement. In my dedicated...
What would you prefer I call it when some dudes who don't know anything about animism run off half-cocked with buzzwords pulled from a mix of pop anthropology and pop occultism?
