I didn't mind most of his stylization, but the way he drew Sam with the ridiculously massive forehead, and Rahne with the most angular square face always put me off. I do think it is funny how much of his stylization of Legion has stuck as just canon appearance though.

There isn't really a D&D JRPG setting, is there?

I think the whole "magitek" thing is probably the most consistent thing in JRPGs. That and absurd levels of upper power. You definitely need to break from the "what real humans can do" to feel right to me. Insane leap distances, inhuman toughness/strength, etc.

Liefeld's main skill seems to be creating things that other people then make good.

The art in Monstress is gorgeous. The story is good as well, but I can't get over the art.

I really enjoyed East of West. It's a wild combination of genres, but he makes it work.

So you want to ask 2-40 questions? :B :B :B

    Marvel Comics

I spent an hour trying to explain X-Men to my two sons and man trying to get into any conversation without going into some kind of bizarre tangent about some whacky shit is impossible. It actually started as a discussion of how one of the artists for New Mutants insisted on giving Cannonball a...

The Lee/Kirby stuff reminds me so much of Gygax/Arneson stuff. In that we'll never know the full story. Just kind of sucks that things turn out like that.

The Video Game Thread: What are you Playing?

So uh, I don't think this is good news for the Bloodlines sequel: https://kotaku.com/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-delayed-past-2021-1846333086

I get you want to be closer to her, but dude, like, back up off the TV if you are seeing individual pixels.

    Universal systems: Differences and Weaknesses

They used Attributes and Skills as an example because they need something to use in the examples of play, not because they are the default. They explicitly state that they are common but not default. Also Attributes and Skills are Prime Sets, but so are Affiliations, Values, Roles, Approaches...

    Universal systems: Differences and Weaknesses

Where did you get that list for Prime Core Trait Sets. It never states default prime sets. It says Attributes and Skills are COMMON prime sets, but it isn't Core. It does say it uses attributes and skills in the examples in the book, specifically so it has something to use for example text, but...

Does anyone run just one system anymore?

To me the too swingy for Savage Worlds is kind of a feature not a bug. Like, bennies exist for kind of controlling the swinginess to some degree. Running out of bennies is when you hit the "true" danger zone, and then you start being really concerned about any attack... which works for what I...

    Universal systems: Differences and Weaknesses

I had a wrap, so a variation of a sandwich :B. I mean, tacos are kind of like sandwiches if you stretch the definition a lot! Thinking about it: Is a taco a sandwich sounds a lot like 90% of our arguments on this forum...

    Mod+ Storygame vs RPG Debate

Nah, not really. Total transparency isn't necessary, just enough to make decisions. Plus there will always be situations that you've not encountered, at that point, the GM makes a new ruling, and we use that as a basis for how that kind of action is taken. And it isn't all or nothing. And the...

    Mod+ Storygame vs RPG Debate

I find that highly competent people will have enough knowledge of the probability to decide between two actions. If they have no idea how each will be resolved, it's very hard to do. Again, you can lean on "well just think of which one would be more likely to work in the setting, not the rules"...

    Universal systems: Differences and Weaknesses

Eh, Fate Core is still way more defined than Cortex Prime is. How damage works has a baseline. The four base actions are pretty set things. etc. etc. For the most part, you can run Fate Core out of the book straight with just coming up with a skill list (hell I think there is still one in the...

    Mod+ Storygame vs RPG Debate

I tend to play games about highly competent people. They should be able to look at two plans of action and have an idea of which one has a better chance of success/more effective.

    Mod+ Storygame vs RPG Debate

I think to me using similar rulings is because I want players to be able to judge how likely the ideas they have are to work without them going through me. Like if a player did something once, I ruled it a specific way, and now they want to try something similar, they will probably have a good...
