Jon Peterson's Game Wizards - The Epic Battle for D&D

I have to say that when I found out that Gygax spent his riches on loose women and drugs that made me like him more not less.

Jon Peterson's Game Wizards - The Epic Battle for D&D

For me, I'm not saying Gygax is never credible, but equally it raises an eyebrow that in every interview I've never seen him accept he'd made a single bad business decision.

    OSR Gamemaster Rescue

Oh, god, I am going to annoy the players in my Paranoia game SO much with this idea. I'm going to make them give a eulogy every time a clone dies, without repeating any previous points from eulogies. Thanks random YouTube guy!

    Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha

There's also the sequel Nomad Gods (the third game in the trilogy never arrived). I have the French version with a translated rulebook and it's very impressive if you like old school fantasy wargames.
  5. Black Leaf

    Running a Kingdom

That was after the political stuff rather than before I believe.
  6. Black Leaf

    Running a Kingdom

The reasons TBP don't like it are political, so afraid that's not really something to go into on here. It's not the game itself.

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

The Photocopier Fanatics sounds like a very English terrorist group for Top Secret.
  8. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

Jumping back on topic (non Pub like though that is), an interesting indicator that these debates about piracy aren't new. This is from Grognardia's readthrough of White Dwarf, in this case April/May 1979.

Duelling Fops of Vindamere - Game Thread

OOC: Well, Max definitely looks like a drunken oaf and Georgio has made the point stick! I lose one point of Foppish.
  10. Black Leaf

Duelling Fops of Vindamere - Game Thread

OOC: This is definitely what I mean; it's the same as actions with the main Fop. I think for these we probably don't need competitive rolls, just one standard roll for your actions.
  11. Black Leaf

    Running a Kingdom

It's worth checking out Renegade Crowns for WFRP. It's somewhat setting specific but it definitely focuses on the fun side of rulership.
  12. Black Leaf

    OSR Gamemaster Rescue

Absolutely. That should be the sole preserve of Runequest fans.
  13. Black Leaf

Jon Peterson's Game Wizards - The Epic Battle for D&D

Yeah, my general impression has always been that while Arneson was the more creative of the two, without Gygax it is highly likely D&D would have remained a pile of haphazard game notes.

Mythras Custom: Hope’s Refuge (Magical Boys and Magical Girls)

I might be interested, as long as you're ok with the fact I don't know Mythras. (I know BRP, so it's not completely alien either).
  15. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

I assume your real name is "Napoleon"?
  16. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

Go back to people being known by offensive nicknames for their surnames as well. I think my favourite of those is Badneighbor.
  17. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

The name on my birth certificate is near impossible to track down online, but my pen name ("Sam Flintlock") is trivially easy and from there you can certainly find stuff like my Facebook. I'm good with that because: a) most of what you'll find is my writing and that's the whole point of having...
  18. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

If you don't want your name to be known you shouldn't issue your own currency.
  19. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

Honestly, I think Pundit's an absolute joke of a little man, but I haven't seen or heard any allegations that match the way Fox operates. His main issue seems to be that he behaves like an idiot online and that his marketing is based on behaving like an idiot. He reminds me a lot of Arnold...
  20. Black Leaf

Piracy, the Trove and how they affect the Hobby

Yeah, if people want to use it to take a pop I'd suggest that the correct way to do so is to mock the contradiction between that and his self proclaimed hard man image. The whole "publicly available" thing feels like a red herring. I might, if I really put my mind to it, be able to find...
