I’m just jumping in to say that horses can be absolutely terrifying in real life if you are just used to trail nags.
The ones used by mounted police are huge and monstrously strong. Large groups of humans simply can’t stay in place once they start pushing.
On a related note, there is true...
Big Savage Worlds news is updated versions (SWADE) of the Fantasy, Horror, Supers, and Science Fiction Companions (which just successfully Kickstarted).
Also an official SW Pathfinder conversion.
Well, as Peter Graham (or maybe somebody else) is alleged to have answered the question “When was the Golden Age of Science Fiction?”
“Twelve”
I sincerely believe that 11 or 12 sets your entire future of interests and hobbies. You will forever love that book series or movie or hobby if it gets...
I would have to say minis, also. Despite a very good friend who buys and paints and buys and paints and buys and paints…
My objection is mostly for a strange personal reason. It’s not the cost (though that can be very high) or the storage (which can be excessive), it’s because I like having an...
Despite the dated effects, occasional stupid plots (alien kumite comes to mind...) and some, let's say uneven acting talent on B5, all of the alien races felt extremely well-developed with unique cultures and goals. Such a great show.
I’d go with Savage Worlds, but that’s always my answer for “what’s the best system for this action movie?”. Alien? No. Aliens? Absolutely.
Star Wars , Star Trek TOS and Rebel Moon? Yes, yes and yes.
The Edges give everyone something special (including animal empathy for the Indian guy and...
One of my first forays into Savage Worlds was the Eye of Kilquato. (On Drivethru it says $10, but the entire adventure is in the Preview...)
Boat chases on the Amazon, shootouts in the jungle with Nazis, a crocodile cult, a precious treasure, it was excellent.
It created many table memes for...
I love using the Mongoose Traveller life-path to spark creativity and create unexpected characters.
One of my players rolled up an Entertainer whose career was ruined by a rival. She was imagined to be a one-hit-wonder pop singer who lost her career and reputation when another pop star faked a...
I have complete “gamer ADD” and flit around from system to system, but Savage Worlds is the system I keep coming back to.
Sure it is gimmicky and “gamey” and swingy and everything else it is accused of being, but it’s so fun.
I can’t think of any system I’ve ever played or run that can get...
For Savage Worlds character building, it’s hard to beat Savaged.us
After spending far too long trying to make customized races and weapons in Hero Lab, Savaged.us was a breath of fresh air. Want to make a Wookiee or stat up a Type-2 Phaser? Piece of cake.
I’m also a sucker for a character...
Modiphius just announced that Star Trek Adventures is getting a 2nd Edition.
Featuring:
An updated and streamlined version of the 2d20 System rules, designed for an authentic Star Trek experience
Compatible with 1E supplements and books (more on this later!)
Be part of a crew from any Star...
My wife missed huge chunks of pop culture when we were raising babies. When I bring up a movie, or song, or tv show I remember from the baby years, she usually replies “I think I fell asleep when that was on”
Not to be too…indelicate, but when I zoom in on the face, I’m not sure if that represents a gigantic man, woman, or alien shape changer caught mid-transformation.
The horse, however, looks great (other than the tail remnant behind the left foreleg)
Shadowdark has a standalone random table for threats to lighting (page 110, Attack the Light) that could be incorporated into a “normal” random encounter table I suppose.
I really, really like the old version of Cepheus Light. It’s now considered a “legacy product”, but I prefer it to the newest version of Cepheus, which is starting to veer off into its own thing.
It has fewer professions, simplified skills, some cybernetics, and fun combat that isn’t super...
I just want to someday run a straight-up Boot Hill 2e game where the characters start out as normal folks but work up to become the movers and shakers in a community- own the saloon, get elected sheriff, run a successful ranch, etc.
In ‘81 or so it was raining so we had recess inside. Joe Clement brought in his brother’s Monster Manual and some character sheets so we could play D&D on the floor of the classroom.
We fought a Peryton, but Joe wouldn’t let us look at the picture. “What do you mean it looks like an eagle with...
We are running a donation drive this month to help offset the costs of running the Pub and to avoid running intrusive ads in the future. If you would like to help out please visit this thread for more details. Thank you!
