    Kickstarters Thread

I just came to post this, and wondered what people think. There really is no private/safe/whatever in forums, but as Steve is on Trollbridge and FB is very public...I have (overly) strong and (equally) mixed emotions.

The All-Purpose, Non-Specific, Catch-All Thread For OSR (And Adjacent) Stuff That Doesn't Need Its Own Thread

As there is now a dedicated thread ["spool" or cloth joke followed by rimshot] defining OSR, resurrecting this one with a question: what is a recommended adventure/setting/something that is close enough to your definition to mention? One that you want to/did play and/or put the time to convert...

    DUNE

Memories from when the John Adams (McCullogh?) hit the bestseller list: 1. A book everyone bought and talked about but nobody read (unfair. I listened to it's quite good--and I rarely touch biographies) 2. Non-fiction is sold by the pound.

    DUNE

(Older end of GenX here). Still undecided whether or not I miss the streaking movement, especially at sporting events. And as for sci-fi so much of the Heinlein/Farmier/Asimov/Niven etc. feels like nerd wish fulfillment. Again I'm not sure how I feel... [Insert non-existent film clip of the...

Winner. Turning off devices. I don't think the net is going to get any better for a while.

    DUNE

Scripture of traditions/religions [insert many and then many more] would like to hold your spice beer. ....And while we're on the subject, what do you serve with spice beer? Sand would get into sliders and nachos...

    OSR: what is it even

Nothing has made me want to go back to eating dead animals more than the vegan police. (Could not get spoiler caption to work: cultural/religious digression)

    OSR: what is it even

For a host of reasons, T&T has always been dreadful at attracting new fans (perhaps with the exception of the Corgi solo-era attracting Fighting Fantasy/gamebook fans) and this continues perhaps to a greater extent in the newer incarnations [insert 500 words on KS, M!M! editions, and the...

Do you know any sourcebooks or general scifi books/media that could give me inspiration for PC piloted Spaceships?

If you want to take it a step further and make it most, really all of their lives, searching on "generation ships" will get you a ton of excellent classic and modern science fiction.

What PHD Do You Need To Play...

And Dresden Files Fate (or any Dresden game if there are others) requires that you failed your dissertation defense in Latin. (Fuego that committee! [Insert Life of Brian clip on correcting Latin grammar]) Dangerous Journeys would ask you to hold its beer, but it can't find it or even remember...

What PHD Do You Need To Play...

+ 12% correcting other pubbers because their percentages actually add up to 100% and when does that happen at the table?

What PHD Do You Need To Play...

Tunnels & Trolls (Monsters! Monsters!, etc.): Theoretical physics to the deal with the contradictions, superpositions, uncertainty and &*@! unknown/random of the rules creators and IP owners. Pulling our string theory anyone? Third party creators are like that poor cat--even if still alive...

Game Lines That Died Too Soon (Not RPGs)

Never played Overpower and I don't think so. This is Deckbuilding as in Thunderstone or Dominion--but even more suitable for solo play. (The Alien implementation is the best I've played, though there are a metric ton I haven't)

Game Lines That Died Too Soon (Not RPGs)

(Dumbass RPG post removed.) While I'm glad it didn't go to the neverending limits of the Marvel Legendary system, I actually really liked Cryptozoic's DC Deckbuilder Game but after the half-a$$ed Rebirth it just died...

    Moderation Discussion Thread of 2024

Late life vegan, but now that you've made me clear of the threat, I'm willing to make an exception (and they still ask me to carve at Thanksgiving)

    Real Life and What's Happening...

That is effing brilliant. My family once did Disneyland (we lived nearby) on Christmas, figuring the park would just be a few singles and whatever other MOTs weren't up for Chinese food and movies. Nope. It wasn't supercrowded, but it wasn't one of our better ideas.

    Real Life and What's Happening...

For a host of reasons--(including superstition as I'm fortunately a low stage)--there will be no chemo selfie. However, I just wanted to show off what I bought for treatment show a little love for the community. (Photo was hogging the page so I put it in the spoiler. Not in a position to edit)

    Who is Shotgun Bob?

Any of my GenX peeps remember Sunset Sam? (RIP Michael Nesmith...(the "AI" seems to be just the sound and picture enhancement compared to other versions , but unsure, otherwise, I'd go with a blurier video)

RPG.Net has been purchased by the owners of RPGMatch

    1. I remember attending a GDC presentation in the mid 1990's where the community manager for I think it was Ultima Online discussed why they were purposely draconian in their enforcement, and seeing the growth of online spaces over the last few decades--much of it has stuck, and I find myself...
