I hope whomever reads this is sitting down: the book is at the printers! The crowdfunding was in April and the book went to print in July. This has to be a new record for Palladium!
If Kevin can get the Rifters and Gardens of the Gods out by the end of next month, I'll have to start questioning...
I have the books but I'm going to buy some of the Savage World poker chips.
We all know that it will end up as another terrible 2d20 product. That's the world we live in. I'm supposed to pretend that somebody wanted Fallout to be a 2d20 system game and not Powered By GURPS?
Shipping is really expensive. I think it's most likely due to the weight more than the bulk. I'm assuming cartoon statues are not that heavy.
But I was shocked by the price as well.
I wouldn't recommend the Marvel Heroic Role-playing game. But it was specifically designed not to be a game I like. I don't like systems that are trying to emulate a genre instead of being the physics of the world if you get me. I'd make sure your players are onboard for it before you jump to...
You guys are probably right. I admit that I'm biased against WoTC and I don't give them the benefit of doubt or take things in a negative light just because I grew tired of the company after two editions of the game I really don't like.
In the mid 90's we started calling game shops Weird Pete's after the comic strip Knights of the Dinner Table having their game store named Weird Pete's.
My parish school has a family fun night every autumn and I run public games for the kids. I've played in a game at a Weird Pete's before and it was fine. I want to run some TFT games this summer while my family is in China.
I am high on complaining about what the kids like today but I’m mostly just commenting how old and out of touch I am. I don’t understand the appeal of watching other people playing RPGs but I don’t begrudge somebody for enjoying it. There are people that don’t get the appeal of watching other...
It just wasn’t Vamprie in the 90’s. It was Rifts, GURPS, Vampire, and some other titles would blip up. I’m going to be the guy that is rooting for D&D to be less successful and Vampire or any other game to be more successful. It’s why I’m really big on trying to run “intro” games at conventions...
The top 5 chart is from hobby stores. I hope you’re right but I am guessing you’re not. If it was selling that well and anywhere near the old Vampire game, we’d hear something like “Vampire 5E is the best selling Vampire” like we do with D&D.
I know that D&D is the 500lbs gorilla in the room...
There is a lot of choice but none of that choice actually sells enough is kind of my point. We have thousands of games but a lot of those games sell a few hundred or a few thousand copies. Maybe it’s me but I’d rather have fewer games and have more games that sell numbers that support their own...
D&D 5E is growing the D&D hobby. I do think the fact that we have the OGL and DM’s Guild limits the spreading out of 5E players to other games. We had a ton of options in the 90’s and a lot of those games were selling a lot of copies. I think one of the big reasons for the shrinking of non-D&D...
Next time you see a mainstream article about D&D notice how they list WoTC ad the creator. I'm not blaming the designers but as a corporate strategy they want to separate D&D from the past. The last Gygax edition was like 40 years ago. The last TSR edition was like 30 years ago. The bulk of D&D...
I am not blaming the designers but the corporate entity. The corporate entity wants Wizards of the Coast to be known as the creator of D&D. It is less messy than the real history.
I stopped going to Tenkar because the blog really isn’t a thing anymore. He spends a lot of time doing his podcasts and I don’t really see value in them. I don’t mind his long form podcast interviews depending on the person being interviewed.
I feel bad for Gail. There isn’t any value in the...
Remember that when Vampire came out almost 30 years ago it was selling hundreds of thousands of every book they put out. At the same time Palladium was selling a ton of books and SJ Games were selling a ton of books.
My point, and I apologise for it not being more clear, is that the new edition...
My point is that D&D 5E is experiencing a boom. The overall hobby isn't. Vampire 5E isn't selling hundreds of thousands of books. D&D has grown the D&D business.
We are running a donation drive this month to help offset the costs of running the Pub and to avoid running intrusive ads in the future. If you would like to help out please visit this thread for more details. Thank you!
