Since it has come up recently, here's my opinion on the new BRUGES and Cults of RuneQuest: The Lightbringers.
Basic Roleplaying
Cults of RuneQuest: The Lightbringers
You can read this samurai duel with Mythras to get a brief picture of how the combat rules play out:

I published an example of play that focuses on spirit combat and chases (it was written by someone else) that you may find interesting:

Perhaps you will like the Runeblog. My focus is precisely Mythras/RQ/BRP. The only handicap is that I write some posts in Spanish, but some others in English. Yesterday for example I published an example of play of RQG (in English). This week I will publish a review of a little known Spanish...
In my teens, I enjoyed a lot the Shadowrun trilogy Secrets of Power, starting with Never Deal with a Dragon, by Robert Charrette.
As for RuneQuest Glorantha, some years ago I read The Widow's Tale by Penelope Love and I found it great. Very Bronze age and very RuneQuest. Read a review!
I wrote a review of M-Space.
It includes an alien race, a vehicle, a planet, and an organization I created using the rules in the book.
Read the review here if you're interested in knowing more.
@Iceman , I'm glad you've decided to get started with RuneQuest Glorantha despite the criticism I included in my review.
I actually think there's been no better time than now to get into that fantastic setting.
Exactly!!!
I have had mixed feelings, actually. On the one hand, it was fun to watch, but also terrifying and tense! They almost TPKd themselves there!
BTW, I finished writing my report while you replied, sorry! :ooh:
Well, we have just played that session. The showdown is not over yet, but it's been interesting so far.
First off, two of the players chickened out when they saw that their group of 14 would be facing 30 goons, not knowing that these enemies are not carrying any armour, besides the sorcerer...
Now that I think of it, we ended last session with the PCs just reaching the caves, and thefissures weren't there yet. So I guess the insane sorcerer will need to cast his spell after all. Besides, I don't want the enemy minions to amke any risky jumps...
Thanks for your constructive criticism, that's helpful.
About the jumping the fissures, I'd thought of making the fissures wide enough that they can be jumped, but if you fail the roll you risk falling down to the lava.
One of the swords' power is to allow you to see the most immediate future...
Most probably not, of course. :hmmm: But you may help me a bit with this:
Next session, the PCs in my Mythras samurai campaign are having at last their showdown against the evil sorcerer. I have a few ideas to throw at them (see below), but I'm looking for two things: ideas to make combat more...
I don't really know, but it looks like there is a Japanese RPG dealing with supernatural beings like vampires, werewolves, fairies, angels, etc. who fight each other in secret in the modern world: Beast Bind. The current 3rd ed. is called Beast Bind Trinity.
During THE KRAKEN convention last October I attended a seminar by Sandy Petersen in which he explained how he builds his horror scenarios.
Read my report here
(there's also a list of upcoming CoC books and a game I played with Lynne Hardy from Chaosium)
Thoughts?
