Monolith Games (the board game company, not he video game company) have a kickstarter up for the new Batman: Gotham City Chronicles. It includes preety massive expansions for their miniatures heavy board game....and a full on Batman: Gotham City Chronicles RPG.
I must admit, I was kinda meh...
I made this dumb thing. I hope it will be fun!
Maybe one (or some!) of you all can use it for something too. It has absolutely no setting information or included adventures.
Feel free to comment. Maybe I'll update it for clarity, idk...

The deal is done. I was not expecting a logistics and distribution company to take over for Flying Buffalo. John Ward, like Rick Loomis, headed up GAMA for a good while. Other than that, all I feel is :blah:, since there doesn't seem much history to Webbed...
First, my definition o the terms:
Binary Skills: You either have the skill, or you don't. Having the skill is enough to succeed at the check. Not having the skill means you fail.
Skill Check: Your skill is a bonus to accomplishing the task under the skills purview. Your skill is tested by a...
So, I've come up with some mass combat rules for PF2e. It's highly inspired by Warhammer Fantasy Battles 3rd edition (since that is the only edition I every played), but tried to maintain the Pathfinder standard scale for everything...
Pretty stoked, although I spent the better part of my hours with the new console last night downloading Series X upgrades for games. There are not many new games for the system, but the quality of life upgrades for everything on it is pretty much the "game-changer" for me.
Massively improved...
This article does a pretty good breakdown of Advantage and Disadvantage from a probability standpoint:
Advantage in D&D 5
I am not a fan of Advantage/Disadvantage in play. I thought it was a cool idea on paper, but it always felt really swingy and unreliable as either a bonus, or a penalty...
Hey, I know there is at least one serious Mythras player here.
I listened to a podcast recently that got me interested in Stormbringer....which is OOP.
Is there an equivalent with Mythras, or some other BRP OSR game? What should I look for?
I started looking into Mantic Games again with the Hellboy RPG kickstarter.
I first heard of them when they launched what were basically 3rd party, cheap-o Warhammer Fantasy figures, but it seems they've garnered a fanbase of their own now.
Anybody here played any of their stuff? Got any...
There is a Pathfinder 2e Humble Bundle started today.
Really good deal. All in is $30 and comes with $360ish worth of .pdfs and a hardcover copy of the core rulebook.
$5 gets the scorebook and some other odds and ends in .pdf.
$20 is where they include the Bestiary, and is all you would need...
One of the best Soloable RPGs has a big Bundle of Holding going on right now. It's currently at a really good deal (20ish dollars for the upgraded collection)
Figured this would a good place to let people her know, and maybe even start a T&T chatty thread (since it is one of my fave RPGs)...
Taking the no politics risk here, itch.io has a bundle on their website of 740 (mostly) video games, print and play tabletop games and tabletop RPGs. It pwyw with a minimum ask of $5.
Troika! and Blades in the Dark seem to be the highest profile pieces of the bundle from the RPG world. There's...
I've been on a classic games kick, trying to check out and experience the older versions of current classics, or the OOP old school greats.
Here's a recent ebay haul:
That Cosmic Encounter box cover is amazing.
I backed the Cortex prime Kickstarter how ever many years ago it was. We've finally recieved what is basically going to be the print version of the rulebook.
First impressions: The production is VERY slick. The art is also fantastic.
I have some nearly forgotten experience with Marvel Heroic...
So, I was just thinking about Chase rules.
In my experience, very rarely are two people evenly matched in a chase. Whoever has the fastest car....should just win.
Whoever has the highest combined STR+CON (or game equivalent) should always outrun pretty much anybody in worse shape than them...
Being a big fan of this game series, and having a lot of Covid-19 related time on my hands, I built two different relatively ready to play implementation on two different platforms:
Roll20:
Tabletop Simulator:
They both feel pretty good. Roll20 was a pain in the but to script normal attack...
So, last minute, my RPG group decided it was best to play online with Roll20.
It worked out pretty well, I had never used roll20 before, one of my player's had used it a bit and was able to give me a crash course in about 1/2 an hour.
Things I learned:
It's not you, it's roll20:
Roll 20's...
With the re-release of Ptolus in full swing on Kickstarter, I wanted to contrast that release with this one I just picked up at my FLGS.
Written by Robin D. Laws, The Yellow King RPG is a generational RPG setting using a new variant of the Gumshoe system.
Each included book is a new era in a...
GMed my first session last night. Running for 5 players. An all Goblin squad.
Things that surprised me:
First level fights were done quick. Got some exposition, exploration, a "low-level" and a "moderate level" encounter in a 2 hour play session.
After setting up the encounters beforehand, they...
I don't know if y'all have seen this. I knew Rick was having medical trouble from the Mercenaries Spies and Private Eyes kickstarter updates. Looks like he could use some financial help for his fight with Cancer.
